Chapter 392 Don't You Think Things Are Chaotic Enough?
Stellan hustled over to the company. She really didn't wanna deal with the press, but she'd already seen the online chatter.
Those internet trolls were gunning for her. It looked like this drama wouldn't die down unless she made a public apology. If it was just about her, she wouldn't give a damn, but this was about Nexus Innovations. When Stellan got to the company, it was swarming with reporters outside. The moment they spotted her, they rushed over, shoving dozens of mics in her face.
"Mrs. Knight, got anything to say about this mess?"
"Seen the online comments? What's your take?"
"First Marigold dies, then there's a safety accident. How's your relationship with Mr. Knight now? Thinking about divorce?"
Each question was more brutal than the last. Stellan was speechless; these reporters had zero chill and would ask anything.
Stellan sighed, "First off, I'm really sorry about the safety accident. It was my bad management that led to this mess. I wanna apologize to the public and send my deepest condolences to the families of the deceased. I promise to learn from this and tighten up management, and I'm open to supervision from everyone." She added, "As for my personal life, I don't wanna say much. Just know that my relationship with my husband is solid, and there's no way we're getting a divorce." The reporters kept pushing, "After all this, your relationship with Mr. Knight is still good? Does this confirm the rumors that he ditched Marigold for you?"
"How do you respond to the accusations online that you caused Marigold's death?"
Stellan shot back, "If that were true, I'd be in jail right now, not standing here talking to you. Today, I'm here to apologize and explain the construction accident. I'm not gonna talk about personal family stuff. That's all for today."
"Alright, Ms. Storm has said her piece. That's it for today. Please leave." Tommy jumped in to keep things under control.
But the reporters, having finally cornered Stellan, weren't backing down and kept firing questions. Tommy did his best to hold them off.
As Stellan was about to leave, surrounded by bodyguards, a loud voice from the crowd yelled, "Stellan, you're so evil. You caused Marigold's death and still act innocent. You're a disgrace to women and deserve to die!" Then, someone chucked a beer bottle at her. Tommy reacted fast, jumping in to shield Stellan, and the bottle smacked him in the head.
Blood started pouring from Tommy's forehead. The bodyguards quickly took down the attacker. Seeing Tommy bleeding, Stellan was freaked out.
"Are you okay? Hurry, get him to the hospital." Stellan rushed Tommy to the hospital.
By this time, Alaric had already woken up. He felt way better after waking up, just like Josep had said: even though the meds had nasty side effects, a good sleep did the trick.
It seemed like everything was chill. After getting up, Alaric walked out of the bedroom and, not seeing Stellan, asked Mia, "Hey Mia, where's Galatea?"
"Mr. Knight, she went out. She's probably at the company," Mia replied.
Alaric was confused. 'She went to the company? Didn't I tell her to stay away from there?'
He quickly pulled out his phone to call Stellan, but then he saw the news notifications.
[During a press interview, an aggressive individual threw a beer bottle at Stellan. Fortunately, her male assistant reacted quickly and shielded her. The male assistant was injured and taken to the hospital.] [Stellan's male assistant reacted swiftly, protecting her without any harm. His reaction speed was even faster than the bodyguards!]
Seeing these news reports, Alaric was floored. 'She got attacked during a press interview? What press interview? Where did these reporters come from?'
Alaric quickly dialed Stellan, who was still at the hospital with Tommy, and asked, "Galatea, where are you now?"
Stellan replied, "I'm at the hospital."
"Are you hurt?" Alaric asked, his voice full of worry.
Stellan said, "No, Tommy's hurt. I'm here with him while he gets bandaged."
Alaric pressed, "What about you? Are you okay?"
Stellan reassured him, "I'm fine, don't worry. I wasn't harmed."
Hearing this, Alaric's tension eased a bit, but the news still had him fuming. "Stay there, I'm coming to the hospital right now."
"No need, I'm about to head back..." Before Stellan could finish, Alaric hung up and sped to the hospital.
By the time he got there, Tommy had finished getting bandaged. It was just some minor cuts. When Alaric arrived, Stellan and Tommy were walking out of the bandaging room together. "Mr. Knight," Tommy greeted respectfully.
Alaric gave a curt nod and then looked at Stellan, scanning her for any signs of injury. "Are you really okay?"
Stellan said, "I'm really fine, Alaric. Don't worry."
"Mr. Knight, you stay with Ms. Storm. I'll head out," Tommy said.
"Tommy, make sure to keep your wound dry and take care of it," Stellan quickly reminded him.
Tommy nodded. "Got it, Ms. Storm."
After Tommy left, Alaric's expression darkened. "Didn't I tell you not to go to the company? Why did you go behind my back?" He was clearly pissed.
Stellan explained, "The media was blocking the company entrance, making it impossible for us to operate normally. I've seen all the comments online. They're all targeting me, basically forcing me to apologize publicly. If I don't, they won't stop, and I don't want to affect Nexus Innovations."
"Do you think apologizing will make them back off?" Alaric snapped, "I told you I'd handle this. Why did you have to go rogue? What if that beer bottle had hit you? Why can't you trust me? When did I ever need you to apologize? Don't you think things are chaotic enough?"
