Chapter 391 Why Is This Treatment Reaction Getting Worse Again?
Josep was waiting for them to finish breakfast before hegot to work, making Stellan and Alaric feel kinda awkward.
Noticing their discomfort, Josep quickly chimed in, "Hey, no rush, guys. I've been here a bunch but never got a good look at your yard." Stellan jumped on that, "Easy fix. Mia, show Mr. Watkins around the yard."
"On it, Stellan." Mia turned to Josep, "Right this way, Mr. Watkins."
Mia led Josep outside. The villa's yard was massive, with a pool out back and a garden that looked like it was straight out of a magazine. Alaric watched Josep head out, then turned to Stellan, "Josep's really serious about my treatment. He showed up super early last time too." Stellan nodded, "That's just how he rolls. Super dedicated to every patient."
Alaric asked, "Josep's been in Country A for ages. Is he planning to head back to Country M anytime soon?"
Josep had originally said he was here for academic exchange with medical experts, but it had been a while, and he was still around. Was it just for Alaric's treatment?
If so, it seemed kinda over the top. Actually, he was just giving Alaric injections now, something even a nurse could handle.
Stellan shrugged, "Last I heard, he was here for some exchange program. Maybe that's still going on? I haven't really asked."
Alaric said, "Josep swings by every few days to give me these shots. I don't think it's necessary. Galatea, why don't you talk to him and see if you can take over? No need for him to keep making these trips." Stellan, still munching, replied, "I don't want to bug Josep either, but he seems cool with it. Honestly, I'd prefer he handles your treatment for the next six months. With his skills, it's a no-brainer."
"Alright, it's just a lot to ask of him," Alaric said slowly.
After they finished eating, Mia brought Josep back in.
"The yard's huge, and the backyard's even more impressive. That little garden is top-notch," Josep said.
"Josep, you're welcome anytime," Alaric said gratefully. "You've been a lifesaver. Galatea and I keep saying we need to treat you to a meal to show our thanks, but we haven't had the chance." "No need for that. Treating patients is my job," Josep said again, "Shall we get started?"
"Sure." Alaric headed back to the bedroom and lay down, with Stellan by his side. Josep gave him an injection, and this time the dose was pretty hefty.
Maybe because of the bigger dose, the reaction was stronger. Unlike the mild reactions before, it felt like the first time all over again-dizzy, nauseous, and wiped out.
"How you feeling now?" Josep asked.
"A bit rough," Alaric admitted.
Hearing that, Stellan got all worried and quickly asked, "What's going on, Josep? Didn't you say after the first treatment, the rest wouldn't be this bad?"
"Chill out, it's all good. This reaction won't stick around. A good nap will sort him out," Josep reassured, "Each injection's a bit different, so the reactions vary. But trust me, it won't be as bad as the first time." "That's a relief," Stellan sighed, feeling a bit better. She turned to Alaric, "Just get some sleep, Alaric. You'll feel better after resting."
"Okay," Alaric nodded, already feeling drowsy from the meds.
Alaric soon drifted off. Stellan tucked him in and then stepped out of the bedroom with Josep.
"Josep, are you sure he'll be fine after some rest?" Stellan asked, still a bit anxious.
Josep replied, "Relax, don't you trust me?"
"Of course I do. It's just hard seeing him go through this," Stellan admitted.
"Don't worry. He'll bounce back soon," Josep assured her.
Stellan felt a bit more at ease. "Alright."
Josep changed the subject, "I heard Nexus Innovations had some issues."
"Yeah, a construction accident," Stellan said, "But it's mostly sorted now. Once the public interest dies down and the safety inspection team gives us the green light, we should be back on track." Stellan knew it wasn't that simple, but she wanted to keep things positive.
"That's good. These things happen in business. Don't stress too much, especially with Mr. Knight not being well and his mom just passing. He needs your support," Josep advised. Stellan nodded. "I will."
"Oh, and about Tommy," Josep added, "I saw him at Mrs. Knight's funeral. He mentioned you're paying him a lot but he doesn't have much to do. That's not cool. Other employees might get upset." Stellan explained, "He's new and still learning the ropes. I wanted him to shadow Silas for a bit. And his salary isn't that high."
"He's getting a general manager assistant's salary. That's pretty high. Don't play favorites. You're just the acting director. You don't want to stir up trouble with the staff," Josep warned.
"I get it. I'll think about it," Stellan said.
"Good," Josep smiled.
Stellan saw Josep out, while Alaric was still snoozing.
She stayed by his side, gently wiping his face with a warm towel. Her phone buzzed, and she quickly silenced it. It was Tommy calling.
"Ms. Storm, there are a ton of reporters outside the company again. We can't shake them this time. Mr. Nash is at the entertainment center and isn't picking up. What should we do? Should we get Mr. Knight to come over?" Tommy asked. Stellan glanced at the sleeping Alaric, feeling bad for him. There was no way he could go to the company today.
"I'll handle it," Stellan said. The reporters were really there for her anyway.
She put down the phone and whispered to Alaric, "I'm heading to the company. I'll be back before you wake up." With that, Stellan grabbed her car keys and dashed out.
