Her Revenge Contract

Chapter 129

Katherine's

POV

"Marry me." The words rang in my ears, and I froze out of surprise.

Xavier wants me to marry him.

Did I hear it right?

Does he want to marry me the human way?

"Let's make it official," Xavier continued, "and get married the proper way. I can't see any reason why we should wait until we do the Luna Ceremony. I want to make you my lawful wife now. I want you to carry the Black name and title." In wolf culture, marking was enough, and it was seen as a symbol of marriage. Yet Xavier wanted to take it one step further by getting married the human way.

I glanced at Xavier in shock, yet I couldn't deny the tenderness and love with which he said those words.

"Being only my fiance in the human world is not enough for me anymore," he continued to argue his reasons. "I need the world to know that you are mine!"

Any girl who heard Xavier's words would be moved; she would say yes instantly without any hesitation. I, on the other hand, had conditions; I wouldn't just go blindly into this, yet, like any other woman, I became emotional.

I slowly turned around, and my arms snaked around Xavier's neck. My eyes shot full of tears, and I couldn't help but bite my shivering lip.

"Are you sure?" I asked, hearing my voice break, "Do you think I am worth the title?"

"You are more than just worth the title!" He said this while pecking my lips.

"What do you say?" He asked, "Would you be my legal wife?"

I slowly nodded, my head still a bit in a haze.

"Yes!" I managed to squeeze out, "My answer is yes!"

I buried my head in Xavier's chest, holding on to him tightly.

"But?" Xavier said and looked down at me, kissing my head, "You probably have conditions?" Xavier knew me all too well.

"I do," I said, and Xavier pushed me away at arm's length.

"And what conditions will those be, Ms. King?" He asked, cocking an eyebrow.

I internally laughed.

Just more than a year ago, he offered me a contract with conditions; now the roles are reversed.

Only this time, we were negotiating our marriage. Oh, Goddess, I couldn't even say the word marriage.

I lifted my head and looked Xavier in the eyes, and without further ado, I started.

"I want to be your equal, not only carry the title of your wife," I said cheekily. If he thought I was going to stay in pack territory the whole time, he had a surprise coming.

"I want to be at your side with every decision made and every problem that comes our way, fighting side by side, and I want no secrets between us, no matter how small."

"Agreed," Xavier said happily, hugging me tightly. "I can't wait to see you walking down the aisle dressed in white and becoming my wife."

"The rest we could discuss later," I said, pushing Xavier away from me and turning around, "but before that happens, I still need to feed you!"

Xavier chuckled happily and let me go. I have never seen him this excited and happy before.

I returned to my future duties as a wife, cooking a meal for my future husband.

About thirty minutes later, we sat at the dining room table, having our meal. It was just a simple Spaghetti bolognese, but I knew from experience that it wasn't as good as Xavier's cooking, but he dug in and finished his food. "That was delicious," he said when he got himself another plate.

I rolled my eyes at him, shaking my head.

"Not as good as yours," I said.

"But on the contrary," he said, looking at me, "everything always tastes better when it's made with love."

"Keep on flattering me, Alpha Black," I said, teasingly, "you might get somewhere!"

I watched Xavier's eyes darken, and I knew what was coming, but I had more important matters to discuss first. Our lovemaking will have to wait-business before pleasure.

Xavier took a bite of the pasta, and I took my chance to discuss my little predicament while he was chewing and could comment.

"Alpha William came to see me today," I calmly said. I refused to find Xavier's gaze, knowing that it would upset me.

"What did he have to say?" Xavier asked when he had finished swallowing, and he sounded extremely calm, which was exactly the opposite reaction I expected.

I lifted my gaze and saw Xavier looking at me with great interest, waiting for me to continue.

"He has a project that he wants me to help him with," I said, getting to the point.

"Is that so? What kind of project?"

I knew Xavier would have a lot of questions, and I was prepared to answer them. I have mentally prepared myself for it; I have even laid out some questions he would ask.

I quickly explained the contract roughly to Xavier, then promised him that I would bring a copy of the contract tomorrow for his review.

"It will be a great opportunity to get more business for the company," I said, "which would provide King Group with a stable income for a couple of months until the project is completed. It will cover most of our overheads." Xavier nodded and continued eating.

"I am just a bit nervous about accepting the contract," I said, and Xavier froze. He slowly placed his utensils on his plate and scrunched his eyebrows together.

"Why?" He asked, "It sounds like a good deal to me."

"I wasn't sure how you'd feel about me working with William."

I could see that Xavier was conflicted with himself. His face turned from stone cold to hard to red, and then he quickly recovered and let out a breath, looking at me.

"It is your choice," he answered. "I will support and respect your decision, whatever you decide to do."
