Can't Win Me Back (Isabella and Nathan)

Chapter 58

"Isabella, look at yourself. Where's the dignity and grace of being Hill's wife?"

"You're useless. You don't have the delicate appearance to make a good front for me, nor the brains to manage my business. And every day, you cause endless trouble... I must have been cursed for eight generations to end up marrying you." Nathan, his eyes bloodshot, shouted like a cornered beast.

Isabella slowly regained her composure.

She climbed up from the cold floor, her face hollow and desolate, but underneath her calm exterior, her heart was storming with emotions.

She had once thought that Nathan's indifference towards her was simply due to his lack of love. But now, it seemed that he didn't just not love her he actually despised her.

"Nathan, is this the real you, finally showing your hypocritical face? You said you wanted to repay me, to take responsibility for me for life-turns out it was all a lie. You only built that image of a person who values loyalty and affection for the outside world." Isabella suddenly let out a weak, bitter laugh.

"Heh... I was really stupid."

After living two lifetimes, only now did she see through his true nature.

"Nathan, don't you feel uncomfortable dragging me into this marriage without a divorce?"

Isabella's words intruded into the most shameful area of Nathan's heart, and his anger surged. He snapped, "Isabella, you've become smarter. But no matter what you do, I'm not divorcing you. My reputation, my credibility as Nathan, will never be destroyed by you." With that, Nathan staggered off.

Isabella looked at his disheveled back, a faint smile playing at the corner of her mouth.

How laughable. She, Isabella, though born humble, had grown into someone tough and resilient. Not only did she have fair skin, a beautiful appearance, and long legs, but her ruthless business acumen also rivaled his, the so-called heir standing on the shoulders of giants.

He was blind to her strengths and had the audacity to despise her?

That night, Isabella couldn't sleep.

Nathan's relentless pursuit to avoid divorce was giving her a headache.

By the early hours of the morning, overwhelmed by exhaustion, Isabella finally drifted into a shallow sleep.

In that half-conscious state, she vaguely heard Victoria's voice:

"Nathan, the City of Reincarnation is an irreplaceable treasure. Theodore bought it for five billion, so he won't easily hand it over to Isabella. She must have promised him something huge to get her hands on it."

"A woman with nothing, what could she possibly offer Theodore?" Nathan sneered.

"Nathan, you and Theodore are business rivals. If Isabella is bought off by him, won't you be worried that she might sell your business secrets?"

Nathan's voice, filled with arrogance, came through: "Her? Even if I put the company's secrets right under her nose, she wouldn't be able to understand them. A foolish woman like her could never be a spy."

Isabella, half awake, opened her eyes, but the smile on her lips didn't quite reach her eyes.

Nathan, oh Nathan. As her husband in both lives, he never truly understood her.

She had built the "Thea You Ni" company from scratch. In just one year, it had made tens of millions in profits.

People were calling her a business prodigy.

Victoria maliciously speculated, "Isabella never received love from her parents, and her life has always been barren. A girl like her, poor and vulnerable, would be easily swayed by material temptations. As long as Theodore offers her a little warmth, she'll probably listen to him without question. What's worse, he's given her the City of Reincarnation worth five billion. She'll probably be at his mercy for the rest of her life."

Nathan, imagining his wife serving another man, felt a wave of unease rising in his chest.

The anger he unleashed was so fierce it seemed it could blow the roof off.

"I won't let her have any more contact with other men."

Isabella only found this laughable. Did Nathan think she was some caged bird? Did he think he could control her social interactions? What a fool.

Nathan continued, "Theodore is just an inexperienced young man. What's there to fear?"

At that moment, the door creaked open. Isabella, holding her phone, stood at the doorway like a ghost.

Nathan and Victoria's eyes flashed with panic. Victoria quickly tried to explain, "Sis, don't misunderstand, nothing happened between Nathan and me. We were just talking."

"Talking? At this hour, alone in a room together, and you call it just talking?"

Isabella pressed the shutter on her phone.

All they saw on Isabella's face was disdain and scorn, not the jealousy or resentment they had expected. Both of them froze for a moment.

In the past, if Isabella had seen Nathan too close to another woman, she would have made a scene, but now, she was calm.

Nathan was momentarily lost in thought.

Victoria snapped out of it and reached for the phone. "Isabella, who gave you permission to take that photo? Delete it."

Her movements were aggressive, and Isabella, fearing she might get hurt, obediently handed her the phone.

After all, she had already sent the photo to Ava in a flash.

Victoria took the phone and deleted the photos from the camera roll with a sigh of relief.

Isabella crossed her arms, her lips curling into a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes. "Sis, this is my house. Please leave immediately. I don't welcome you here." Victoria's face turned pale. "Bella, how can you do this to me?"

She gazed at Nathan, her eyes filled with fake tears. "Nathan, since my Sis dislikes me visiting the Hill family so much, I won't come anymore."

Nathan scolded Isabella harshly, his

face dark. "Isabella, this house isn't for you to decide. It's me who's in charge here. The door of my house will always be open to Victoria.f you continue to make trouble for your Sis, you can get out."

Isabella didn't get angry. Instead, she laughed. "Is that what you said? Nathan, don't you ever ask me to come back."

With that, Isabella turned and walked into the room, slamming the door shut with a deafening sound that startled Victoria, causing her to shrink back. Nathan's face was dark, and his mood was extremely foul.

"Nathan, my Sis is angry. What should we do?"

Victoria squeezed out a few fake tears.

Nathan scoffed, unconcerned. "How long can she throw a tantrum? No matter how many times she does this, she'll still come back to me in the end." Victoria smiled through her tears. "That's true."

She and Nathan snuggled up and walked downstairs together.

Isabella packed her bags and dragged her suitcase downstairs.

In the living room, Victoria and Nathan stared in shock at Isabella. Victoria was the first to speak, "Isabella, stop causing trouble. When have you ever really been willing to leave Nathan?"

But Nathan's eyes showed some panic.

The last time Isabella had run away from home, Nathan's father had become displeased with him.

If she repeated the same behavior again, it could cause an even bigger uproar.

Isabella walked up to Nathan with her suitcase, tossing a divorce agreement at him. "Nathan, you're not money. Not everyone can't live without you. If you're so sure, sign this divorce agreement and let me go. From now on, you take your sunny path, and I'll take my solitary bridge."
