300 Days With The Alpha Beta Triplets

Chapter MORE FLASHBACKS

THIRD PERSON POV:

CONTINUATION OF FLASHBACK:

Evelyn left Fred's room with tears clouding her eyes, and Fred, determined to have things his way, allowed her to go. All he could think of was how she didn't love him enough to leave with him, and he wondered why he was doing so much for her when she probably didn't feel the same.

As she walked away, Herald noticed her distress and felt a pang of concern. Though he'd initially stepped back after learning of her involvement with Fred, seeing her in such a state made him reconsider. He took off at once, going after her to know what was troubling her.

Evelyn's steps led her to her father's old cabin in the woods, her safe haven. She morphed into her wolf form, abandoning everything she'd bought at the market, and raced to the cabin. Once inside, she shifted back and collapsed onto the floor, crying bitterly. But her solitude didn't last long. Herald, having followed her trail, gathered her discarded goods and drove after her, his concern growing with each passing mile.

When he arrived at the cabin, he approached cautiously, hearing the faint sounds of her sobs. As he opened the door, Evelyn, sensing someone unfamiliar, leaped at him, knocking him to the ground. They froze, eyes locking, both caught off guard by the sudden closeness. Herald couldn't help but admire her-her strength, her grace, even in her vulnerable state. Evelyn, realizing who it was, quickly pulled back, her face flushing with embarrassment.

"I'm sorry, Alpha King Herald," she stammered, offering a stiff bow.

Herald, amused by her formality, got to his feet, dusting off his clothes. "And she's a fighter," he teased, a small smile playing on his lips. Evelyn looked away, trying to steady her racing heart. His presence unsettled her in a way she couldn't quite explain.

She assumed it was her grandma's words getting to her head, so she shook it off, hoping she and Fred would work things out when they get over their fight.

He handed her the items she'd dropped. "You left these on the road," he said gently.

Evelyn took them, her cheeks burning with shame. She mumbled a thank you and hurried to the small kitchen, desperate to distract herself. She couldn't believe she'd let him see her like this-so broken, so exposed.

"You should get going," she said, her voice strained. "It's getting late."

Herald nodded, turning to leave, but as he reached the door, a sudden downpour erupted, the sky opening up with a vengeance. He rushed to his car, but the engine refused to start. He tried calling for help, but no one answered, including his mother. The cold, biting rain seeped through his clothes, chilling him to the bone.

He returned to the cabin, knocking softly. Evelyn opened the door, her eyes widening at the sight of his drenched form. Without a word, she stepped aside, allowing him to enter. Then she handed him a blanket, starting up the fire to keep him warm.

"I guess I'll have to stay the night," he said, shivering slightly. She nodded, not fully grasping the consequences this night would bring.

**

They were both startled awake by a loud bang on the door.

"Open up!" a voice demanded. Evelyn's heart raced as she recognized the voice-it was her grandmother, and she sounded furious.

Herald and Evelyn exchanged a panicked look before she hurried to the door. When she opened it, a crowd from their pack stood outside, their faces twisted in anger and betrayal. At the forefront was her grandmother, her eyes filled with tears.

"Herald, how could you?" his mother cried, pushing through the crowd. "Your daughter's innocence has been taken by the Alpha King of the Rune Pack," she accused, her voice trembling. "He must marry her."

END OF FLASHBACK

The words echoed in Evelyn's ears, pulling her back to the harsh reality of her past. The voice of the former Luna of Rune Pack was like a cruel reminder of everything she had endured.

"You're right," she whispered. "I'm not ready to revisit those memories." She shuddered, tears slipping down her cheeks. "I haven't even thought about the part where I was forced to keep trying in order to produce male children or how I knew I was set up that night when the Luna refused to answer her calls after she knew Herald was in the cabin. She left us stranded."

Fred pulled her into a tight embrace, holding her as she trembled against him. "You don't have to go through it alone," he said, caressing her hand tenderly. "I should have been there for you, but I failed."

Evelyn looked up at him, her eyes filled with anguish. "You believed me," she said, her voice cracking. "That's the only thing that kept me going."

Fred placed a hand over her mouth, silencing her. "Don't say that," he said, his voice pained. "I've never stopped blaming myself for what happened. I should have done something, anything, to prevent it. If you hadn't run off that night..."

"But I did," she interrupted, her voice firm despite her tears. "I ran, and this is where it led us. We can't change the past."

She sobbed into his chest, and Fred held her tightly, whispering soothing words until her tears finally subsided. "We need to rest," he said softly, brushing a stray hair from her face. "Tomorrow is going to be a long day." Evelyn nodded, leaning on him as they stood up together. "You'll have to speak to Mr. Stormclaw yourself," she said, her voice steadier now. "Because if I'm forced to take drastic measures against Fae, they won't like what I have planned. I swear by the Moon Goddess, I'll fight with everything I have. My patience is wearing thin."

Fred kissed her forehead, guiding her back towards the bedroom. "We'll face whatever comes together," he promised.
