Chapter SAPPHIRE BELLE
Bella:
A knock on our door awoke Hazel and me, causing us to spring to our feet, assuming it was my mother or Alpha Fredrick.
"Coming!" Hazel yelled, rushing to the door while I trailed behind her.
She opened the door to a bare hallway. She looked left and right, but there was no one.
"Who thinks pranking is fun at six in the morning?" I groaned, walking back to my bed with heavy eyes, hoping to catch thirty more minutes of sleep before the rising bell.
As I threw myself on the bed and shut my eyes, Hazel spoke.
"There's something here," she said. I groaned further, trying to keep my eyes closed, but I knew it wouldn't be possible with whatever Hazel had discovered. "It has your name on it," she added, causing my brows to wrinkle.
Of course, it had to be for me.
"It's from the Sapphire Belle Sisters. They want you to meet with them after school," she said. I groaned further while she sat on my bed. "This is a great opportunity for you. They are the highest sorority club in school, and you'll probably have your own minions."
When she said this, I sat up, pulling the pillow away from my face with my brows drawn down.
"How do you even get the best grades in school when you are invested in things that literally waste one's time?" She shrugged.
"It runs in the family," she replied, causing me to groan and get up from bed.

I wasn't able to go back to sleep, so I took a bath and prepared for school, after which I waited for Hazel to go through ten thousand personalities, a Taylor Swift concert, and a little of Beyoncé.
After that, we left for breakfast. When we got into the cafe, I thought the event of the previous day would have been erased from everyone's mind, but to my greatest surprise, they stared at me, and they praised me.
"I like your shirt."
"Her body is perfect, and ugh, I want to have her face. The triplets are at her feet. Fuck!" another girl whined.
I ignored them all and walked up to the buffet to get served. I got Belgian waffles with whipped cream and strawberry compote.
I wanted orange juice, but it was finished, which made me select the organic yogurt most people left out for the orange juice.
"I hate yogurt," I said as Hazel and I sat down at an empty table.
"Well, it's my lucky day," Hazel said, and I rolled my eyes, digging into my meal.
As the students chattered, I bit my delicious waffles, then I sipped a bit of the yogurt, squeezing my face from the sour sensation it gave on my tongue.
Hazel chuckled, sipping hers in delight, then she glanced at me. She stopped eating and continued to look over my shoulder, which made me stop eating.
"You do not want to look back," she said, grabbing her waffles and taking a bite of it.
This made me look back to see the twins headed to our table with their trays. My heart skipped a beat as I tried to compose myself, but I found myself unable to pick up my waffles.
"Can we join you?" Kai asked, and I swallowed hard, looking at Hazel, who shrugged at them.
"We'll take that as a yes," Finn said, and they placed their trays on the table with Kai seated next to me and Finn opposite him, next to Hazel.
The four of us ate our meal in peace without saying a word to each other. The silence at our table drew the attention of nearby students, causing Hazel to clear her throat.
"Do you know Bella hates yogurt? And she will probably..."
"You can take mine!" the twins said in unison, causing me to sigh while I glanced at Hazel.
"I said it first, and she gets to take my drink," Finn said, placing his bottle of juice on my tray.
"No, I said it first," Kai insisted, placing his bottle on my tray, too.
This gave the students something to talk about, and in no time, people took out their phones, struggling to be the first to get juicy gossip into the diaries.
"I think I'm full, and I do not want anything from you guys," I said to them, returning the bottles to them.
I watched them stare angrily at each other, making me sigh once more. I racked my head for a conversation to smooth out the atmosphere.
"Where is Ryder?" I asked, taking a bite out of my second waffle.
"Serving his punishment. His father hasn't called him since it began, and he fears he might have cut him off," Finn said in an unbothered tone, making me question if their friendship was legit.
"Yeah, it would be better if he called to yell at him or something, but he's been mute for twenty-four hours," Kai added.
Their words made me feel something. Not enough to make me forgive him, but a little of sympathy. This caused me to stand up.
"I'll be right back," I said, and I walked back to the cafeteria servers.
The food was finished, so I got a paper bag and wrapped the two remaining pieces of waffles I had. Then I grabbed Finn's juice, which wasn't opened yet.
"I'll take that now," I said to Finn with a smile, and he nodded. Then I slung my tote bag on my shoulder, grabbing Hazel's hand. "Hazel and I have some assignments to finish before classes start," I said, and she nodded, getting up. She packed her stuff and bid them goodbye. Then we walked away, not caring if they bought the lie or not.
"But you know they didn't buy it," she said, and I shrugged.
We got to the class building, and I went around it, knowing where Ryder would be. There I saw him at the back, operating the lawn mower, which made me pause in my tracks.
"Stop staring at me that way," he said, stopping the machine. "You know I can tell when you're here," he said, turning to look at me.
My heart skipped a beat.
It was just a nice gesture, and nothing more, I told myself as I walked toward him with the paper bag in hand, while Hazel followed closely.
"Hey," I said to him when we closed in on each other.
"Hey." He replied as I stared at the trickle of sweat that ran down his beautiful face. Then I took a deep breath, recalling why I was there. I stretched out the paper bag of waffles to him with the orange juice.
"Saved you something from the cafe this morning," I said, and he took it with a smile on his face, which I could sense was fake.
"Thanks," he replied. "I could really use some food because I've barely eaten since the suspension," he said in a low tone.
"Sorry about that," I said, and he scoffed, turning his face away. "I heard about your dad, and I will try to put in a good word for you so he won't be hard on you."
When I said this, he looked at me with his eyes widened.
"You would do that, even after I've been a dickhead to you my entire life?" he asked, and I nodded, forcing a smile on my face too.
The air was awkward, and although it was his fault, I tried not to push blames. He made his way towards some benches at the basketball court that were a few meters away, and I turned to look at Hazel, who tweaked her head in approval, so I walked with him.
He sat down and offered me a seat, then he began to eat, while I watched him with my mouth wide open. I knew it was the mate bond, but everything about him was goddamn sexy. His jaws were finely defined, and the way he chewed, the Moon Goddess have mercy!
"Want some?" he asked, but I was too engrossed in his godlike physique to know he was speaking to me. "Bella," he called out, placing his hand on my lap.
This sent a pleasant surge of emotions, which jolted me back to reality to see him holding out the juice in front of
me.
"NO, I do not. I am quite satisfied," I said.
Suddenly, we heard students chattering.
"Classes are about to begin, and I think we should get going," I said to him, and his brows furrowed.
"Yeah, detention sounds fun." He threw his face away, and we became silent again. "You do not need to feel bad for me," he added.
Then I got up and fastened my bag on my shoulder. He got up too, after trashing the paper bag in a waste bin, and then we walked towards the lawn mower.
"I better get this inside," he said, and I lifted a corner of my face to show I was present in the conversation.
He grabbed it while I headed towards Hazel, who was playing with the ends of her skirt.
"Hey, Bella," he called out when I had taken two steps, and I turned to face him.
"Do you have something to do after school?"
His question took me aback for a moment, and my mind went back to how lost I was being with him. I didn't want
that to happen, because I couldn't tell what would come next.
"Yes, I got invited by the Sapphire Belle sorority, and I will be attending the meeting after school," I said, and I
watched his face fall.
"Okay, I will see you some other time, then. Thanks for the meal," he said, and I waved him goodbye rushing to Hazel.
I grabbed her hand and rushed out to the front of the school, where I took a huge breath by the door.
"I thought you weren't interested in the sorority."
"Yes, and who says I am going? It is better than going out with Ryder," I said, and she shook her head.
"You cannot escape it, because Fae is in the club, and she will tell him if you aren't there."
I swallowed hard when she said this.
"Then I guess I will be there," I said in a low tone as we walked through the hallway of students who couldn't stop
staring at me. "All I wanted was a normal mate," I said, and Hazel patted my back.
"You are so lucky to have Noah. I would kill to be in your shoes."
When I said this, she let out a faint chuckle, and then the bell for classes rang.
"We should get to class," she said.
