The Princess’s Broken Alpha

Chapter 16

There was a soft knock on the door as Zion twirled the pen in his hand in the office. He hadn't been able to sleep since night. The past few days have been a whirlwind and a nightmare. He ran a hand through his blonde hair and eased back. The door slowly opened and unsure grey eyes peeped from behind the door.

"Come

in"

"Are you busy Alpha Zion?" Julie softly asks.

"What is it Julie?" I bark out.

Julie nervously comes in from behind the door closing it, her chubby cheeks red. She stops before the desk not making eye contact and fiddling with her fingers.

She finally looks up and meets my eyes.

"I'm so sorry for what happened on Thursday," she says apologetically and her eyes are filled with tears. Oh shit. Julie is a softie.

"Why would you be sorry Julie?"

"If it wasn't my fault then they wouldn't have forced you to shift."

It was humiliating and it's hard to look at your pack members after that but what can I do.

"Julie, it wasn't your fault. They're just assholes. If it weren't you then it would have been somebody else."

"Yeah but you didn't have to do it and save my life," she said quietly.

"Then who would we have to scold people and throw a tantrum to put the chairs back perfectly aligned in the dining hall?"

Her cheeks are bright red and she laughs and puts both hands in her pants pocket.

"For what it's worth nobody really cares and if they do I'll fight them"

"I think I can more than manage Julie."

Her eyes suddenly go wide " Your wolf is huge! I think it could rival Delta Sam's wolf. I think it's also pretty cool you have blue eyes and the gold streak. The guy's were talking about it and-" she catches herself and breaks off.

And they were saying it's a waste for my wolf to be that big and a cripple. I quickly break the awkward silence. Julie means well and she's actually precious. "Thank you Julie. Is there anything else?"

"No, that's it. I'll leave you to it" she awkwardly fumbles and leave and I put the pen down. I had accepted a long time ago that the world wouldn't be kind to me because of my state and the werewolf world was the worst. Accepting it didn't mean it didn't hurt. "Zion!"

Samuel mind links me.

"What!"

"Just got report that there's a Lycan spotted on the back west border heading up. They're trailing the scent"

I slammed the pen on the desk. It wasn't bad enough we had to suffer through a visit with the bitches now we have to house one until they find their escapee that we absolutely know nothing about.

"I think it's a female! Probably the hunter? I'm gonna make sure"

Samuel chips out and hurriedly shifts heading towards the howl.

Kiarra could hear the wolves howling. Their shadows disappearing behind the deep thicket of trees as they trail her. She had to give it to them the Cartier's location was impressive. They had fences along the road marking their territory and every inch of the border was well manned or well wolfed. She spotted cameras and holy moon goddess that's a big wolf. A big wolf dove through the trees charging towards her.

Kiarra decided to head further into the thicket and scale the fence instead of heading on the road and up to the main building. Something in her clicked and she wickedly decided to test the large wolf's speed and started to run hearing it's large paw thudding heavily behind her as she dodged through the trees. She slowed down and turned sharply and the big wolf skidded scrambling from the sudden change in direction and momentum, almost colliding with a tree. It's green eyes were menacing and it loudly growled in warning to her. Its long canines visible. She ran deeper into the forest enjoying the adrenaline running through her. The trees moving past her in a green and brown blur.

There were other wolves powering through on the hunt as she went deeper into the forest. More wolves joined in the chase and she could still see the large dark brown wolf peddling hard behind her. Another large growl sounded through the forest and she saw the shadow of another coming from the side towards her. He was big as well but not as big as the big brown wolf. They looked pretty similar, probably the brothers but he was the faster of the two.

Kiarra laughed and pushed forward a little bit more so as not to lose them. She hadn't even broken a sweat neither changed form. Here she was barely running through the pack land being chased by over a dozen wolves, the sound of their paws behind her. What was she thinking? This was certainly some kind of welcome or way to meet first hand. Any normal person would take the front entrance. They probably thought she was the missing Lycan.

She could tell the two large wolves weren't the alpha. Well obviously as he was in a wheel chair. She should probably stop and introduce herself or just head up to the pack house, she had to meet everyone and would head there eventually after all this. She decided to head to the pack house. She'd been running for around fifteen minutes when she saw in the distance to her right glimpses of white. Interesting, the houses were simple and beautiful, lined in a scheme fashion and she shot up the hill leaning back into the forest feeling the wind tearing against her.

That's when she saw the flash of silver and using her speed she easily dodged it as it whizzed pass her.

They had small towers with men that shot silver arrows!

She guessed it was a warning.

Samuel was struggling his ass off. He knew Lycans were fast but he could tell she was moving very slowly to let them catch up and he was busting his ass behind Daniel who was pushing with everything he got. The wolves behind him were barely there as they faded out not able to keep up with the speedy chase.

"She's heading to the pack house!" Daniel shouted in front of him.

"Zion!"

"What!"

"Do you ever answer nice and cheery?" Samuel asked.

"She's making us her bitch!" Daniel wheezed cutting in trying to catch his breath as he kept powering with everything he had. They quickly relayed to him she was heading up to the pack house and focused on trying to keep up. It was over thirty minutes now that they had been high speed running.

Kiarra could tell they were mindlinking and increased her speed and they started to fade out before completely disappearing. The large pack house soon gleamed up ahead and she slowed down before it her wolf in a frenzy. She fought to contain it as she was going crazy to find her mate. She stood on the walkway waiting for about ten minutes before she saw the large brown shadows jump from out of the line of trees and surge towards her.

They halted to a stop circling her and growling fiercely and Kiarra looked at them both as their green eyes watched her every movement.

"Took you both long enough!" she said confidently.

"Who are you?!" the smaller brown wolf asked.

"I'm Anastasia"

He looks over at the other wolf and he nods.

"She fits the description", the bigger one agrees.

"Welcome Anastasia, just one second."

They both went around the side and came back wearing shorts.

"I'm Daniel and this is Samuel."

They were respectful but they stayed a good distance away. The large one was definitely not friendly with a deep scowl on his face and only nodded at her looking at her warily. Daniel didn't seem that much friendly either and his pleasantry seemed forced replaced by a cool demeanor. She figured they were probably upset about the chase. But the way they looked at her when they thought she couldn't see made her feel otherwise. She tried not to think too much about it taking in the beautiful architectural details of the pack house. They finally reached the entrance and Daniel pushed open the door and enters when the deep authoritative voice sounded.

"I hope they don't expect us to fucking bow this time!"

Kiarra bristled internally at the harsh unwelcome tone. She spotted the wheelchair and responded moving from behind the tall brother.

"No but if you weren't in a wheelchair I'd let you kneel-"

Her words died in her throat as her heart raced and the world seemed to stand still as she stared into the most beautiful green eyes she'd ever seen. His eyes were blazing fury as he looked at her and then they slightly widened in surprise. He was very handsome with deep rich golden hair, high cheekbones and a sharp jawline.

He smelled divine, a deep earthy intoxicating masculine scent and she couldn't help but breathe him in more and more. She wanted to dive into him, give herself to him whole and she felt a deep shiver run through her. She could feel her palms going sweaty under his intense gaze and her knees felt weak. The pull is so profound she could barely catch her breath and her lungs ached before she opened her lips and softly called.

"Mate "
