The Girlboss Begs for Remarriage by Chu

Chapter 2106

The first room Frank entered had a coffin placed dead center, with various other burial items around it.

Upon closer look, there were signs that they had been moved.

"This isn't a tomb... It's a hideout!" Lara exclaimed.

"Wrong. This isn't made specifically to be a hideout-it was a tomb, later fashioned into a hideout,' Frank explained as he realized why there was no significant structural damage inside-someone had dug an additional passage directed here, a place to hide. Lara nodded. "Makes sense... But if there were people who used this as a hideout, why didn't they take the artifacts?"

"It's most likely because of the era when it was built," Frank replied. "Think about it-in which period would you need a hideout?"

Lara realized with a start at Frank's explanation. "So they dug it during a war? That does explain it, since antiques aren't worth anything during such times."

Frank nodded and led her to the next room-it was a lot less interesting, as it was mostly empty and the floor showed signs of cracks.

"It seems that the antiques were launched out of this room," Frank said, staring at a human-sized gap while listening carefully and soon hearing the trickling sounds of water.

"We're not going to fall, are we?" Lara joked.

Frank ignored that and headed to the third room.

There were no cracks or antiques, just stacks of scrolls.

"I think this would be more valuable than other antiques," Lara said as she pointed at the stacks but did not open any.

They were quite old, and since she was no specialist, it would not do to risk ruining it.

As she kept strolling around, she noticed a painting that she recognized right away. "Isn't that... the View of Fureno?"

"What?" Frank had heard about the painting too. "Wait, could the one in the museum be a replica?"

Lara shook her head. "I don't know, but..."

She suddenly trailed off, her expression turning dark as her whole body froze up.

"What's wrong?" Frank hurried to her and was surprised when Lara threw herself into his arms, clinging firmly on him and refusing to let go while her hands groped him endlessly.

"An aphrodisiac?" Frank murmured as he quickly pushed her away and sniffed the air.

There was indeed a curious smell in the air, and it came from that painting.

It had to be decades since anyone had been here-would an aphrodisiac kept around for that long still work? "Mr. Frankton..."

Lara threw herself into his arms again, purring, "It's so hot..."

Frank could not deny that he was attracted to a cool beauty like Lara, but how could he take advantage of her when she had been drugged?

Gently knocking her out, he laid her level on the floor while brushing his finger on the painting, sniffing it.

"Divine Delight?" he exclaimed in shock, having heard that it was horrendously effective, even allegedly beating the gods. And if not treated in time, the victim would need...

Scooping Lara up in his arms right then, Frank ran all the way to the entrance, felt around the wall, and found the switch.

He pressed it, and as the wall slowly

opened to reveal a passage, Frank snapped at the thugs who

waiting, "Get out of here

turn

yourselves in!"

With that, he no longer paid them any attention as he hurried away.
