Chapter 17. Princess in Distress
When you care
You'd do anything Even if it's too much - Percy
I was upset when Grady told me about what happened to Jacqueline, me and my team had just gotten back from our mission for our sister, Ella. Though I'm glad Grady was there for Jacqueline, somewhere deep inside me regret the time of not being there for her.
Holding Jacqueline in my arms, I let her nap the afternoon away in my embrace. There's nothing I want more than to keep her safe. Grady was out in the living room, trying to juggle between Ella's issue and Jacqueline's. I wanted nothing but to help him, yet I was not letting her go through this alone. I need her to feel safe, I couldn't imagine what she must've gone through this afternoon.
The day went by fast. After a quick dinner, Grady and I were back to handling Brice and Ella's issue. Both of us went back and forth to my brother's room, attending to Jacqueline's needs. Waited on her trying to get her to rest and eat, she was looking cozy in Grady's hoodie and just his socks, drowning herself under the covers of his bed.

"What do we have on these guys?"
I asked Grady the second we were alone in the living room, Ella had joined her fiancé to rest in one of the guest bedrooms. My brother looked exhausted, too much was going on in one day.
"Bruce is handling it, I talked to him half an hour ago." Bruce was our college buddy, he owned the security company where we decide to invest in when he needed the expansion fund to keep his business afloat against his peers. That was two years ago, now his business was thriving. The man kept saying that he owe us and we know he wasn't talking just about finance.
"Bruce is good at these things, he'll come back to us with a full report," I said to my brother, my hand was to his shoulder assuring him to take a rest. After Melody, Grady can be a bit weird when he gets too exhausted or when he had a lot on his mind. The man would stir in his sleep, mumbling words, and gets restless.
"You're right, I'm going to lay down in your room. Will you stay with Jacqueline? I don't want her waking up alone in the middle of the night and freaking out." I nodded at him, Jacqueline was staying in Grady's room, where he took her as they arrived late in the afternoon.
Though I know tomorrow will arrive soon enough, I was hoping to get some answers tonight. I was anxious and I see my brother was too. "Rest Grady, I'll take care of her and waited for Bruce if he has some preliminary result from his search. I got this, brother. I'll see you in the morning."
Jacqueline was still resting, I imagined her stress was still lingering over her mind. Me and Grady decide that we didn't want to bother her with Ella's issue. We both saw how fragile she was, I didn't think that the sexy vixen can be this rattled and somehow it made us realize there was something more than what she was reflecting. As if something had happened in her past that made it harder for her to shake the afternoon incident. Or maybe it was just our twist-up minds concluding stuff that shouldn't make us worry in the first place.
The night went by with her in my arms, her body molded perfectly with mine and we sleep until dawn. That's when I felt the bed dipped and Grady joined us, resting to her other side.
"How are you feeling?" I whispered, not wanting to wake her.
"Much better, I just need to be with her," Grady whispered back and eases in under the cover, where she stirred and turned to face him. Her simple gesture made me smile. I kissed her hair and told Grady I was going to make coffee for us and he nodded.
With our crazy lifestyle, we work insane hours, sometimes sleeping only four or five hours a day. At times we felt like we were going to burn out and that was when we decide to start investing in vacation homes. The concept was to have a vacation in these homes. We need to unwind, we need these places. Spending money on our properties is the best way of making more money. But then we ended up renting them and somehow it lead us to more managing and hours of talking to our property agents.
That was until Capri until we decided to take a week off work and accidentally met Jacqueline. We didn't realize that we had a good time and went back refreshed though slightly frustrated by her. But things quickly changed when Grady decided to pursue her and we get her agency to sign her a six-month contract with us.
The thought of our first night together was distracted by the sound of the coffee machine bringing me back to the current situation. I fixed Grady's coffee and mine and brought the cups to his bedroom. We drink our coffee in silence before we both start opening our phones, where the flood gates open and we were busy with our emails, sipping coffees until Jacqueline stirred awake between us.
"Morning, baby girl," Grady greeted her, kissing her forehead. "How are you feeling, princess?" I asked planting my kiss on her temple. We both chuckled when her eyes widen, clearly surprised thinking that we all spent the night together. She can be the cutest.
"I'm going to start on breakfast and let you two talk." Grady pecked her cheek and walked out of the room. We had talked earlier about telling Jacqueline what I was doing yesterday, feeding her little bits of information before we talk again at breakfast.
Jacqueline was up, went to the bathroom to do her thing before she was back to my side and steal my room-temperature-coffee and rest her back on the headboard.
"Yesterday I was busy with Ella, her fiance's stalker was making us run around trying to figure out the next best move. But it's all over now, they're both safe, resting in the guest bedroom. You will see Ella later, but can I ask you favor not to tell Ella about your incident?" She was quiet, not saying a word, and waited for my explanation. "Damn, I shouldn't be telling you how to do things, but she went through a lot and I..." she cuts my words when she said her yes, and I was relieved instantly. "Thank you, I just want her to relax, the last couple of months had been such a roller coaster for her."
"Grady, I know and I was there, sort of, we're not that close. Not that I don't want to, just that we're both busy," she blushed and I tilted her face and put my lips on hers.
"You're going to be okay, princess, I promised you." She didn't say anything back, she just nodded.
We settled in the dining area, with Jacqueline between us. Breakfast was on the table when Ella entered, holding hands with Brice.
She looked pleasantly surprised seeing Jacqueline but then blurted out her question. "Jacqueline? I didn't know you're coming here." Ella's question surprised her, then she look at me as if she was searching for an answer. Our sister looked at me and Grady, I know our seconds of silence were telling her that something was wrong, that Jacqueline was not just having breakfast and checking in on her.
"She was the emergency that made me leave you yesterday," Grady answered, "We'll talk about it later, but she's good for now, tell me how are you feeling? Brice?"
Brice took a seat after pulling a chair for Ella. The famous author greeted me, Grady and Jacqueline then answered with a thank you for yesterday. "I'm better, a lot better with Ella by my side."
Our sister kept on looking at me and Grady, then at Jacqueline. I know she sensed it and she faced her neighbor's best friend, and I can see that Jacqueline was giving her the look, the silent 'I'll tell you everything later and yes I'm in trouble' look. Then Ella nodded and let Brice put his hand on her, while she was back to focusing on my words.
I was recapping Ella, catching her up with the situation regarding her fiancé Brice and his stalker issue. She still appears to be overwhelmed as she drinks her coffee. It was a heavy discussion for her, I can feel it and Jacqueline was a bit stunned by what had happened yesterday.
Breakfast ended more than two hours later and Ella finally had time to talk to Jacqueline. I was hearing her words when she only shares a vague explanation about her problem with one of her billionaires. Though we haven't had any clear report on that, it was the simplest answer to end the conversation with Ella, for now.
"Percy and Grady are handling it, I'm fine Ella," she smiled weakly, Ella hugs her and tells her that she will be there for her, that she wants Jacqueline to call her. But Jacqueline assured her that Percy and I were helping her. "Be with Brice, I will be fine, it'll be over before you know it and we'll be having lunch with Ben and Gemma just like the old days."
"Oh, gosh, it seems like it's been years," Ella smiled and finally hugged her one last time before she heads back with Brice to his place.
Putting our plates and cups in the dishwasher Grady explained our plan for the day. "I've cleared our schedule, we should go to Jacqueline's after this, let her pack her stuff..."
"Whoa... whoa, hold back a bit. Why will I be packing my stuff?" Jacqueline suddenly was to her feet and we were both standing to her sides within seconds.
"It's cute that you think we're just going to let you wander around after what happened yesterday, princess," I said taking her hair to one side and kissing the back of her neck. "You're coming to stay with us, baby girl, at least until this whole situation blows over," Grady added caressing her face and kissing the tip of her nose. We both noticed her little gasp and lite shudder indicating that she enjoying our attention towards her.
"Em I guess if you both insist." We both smile, let out a little laugh before letting her go, telling her to go to get dressed. I had washed her yesterday clothes and told her where they are. She blushed a bit probably knowing that I had put her undies in the washer and dryer for her.
"I'll call Bruce asking for an update, I want to get her to move in as soon as possible."
"If I hadn't known you. I'd say you're a bit too eager for her move." I smirked looking at my brother, but he didn't need to voice it out knowing I had felt the same thing towards Jacqueline.
She did affect both of us the same way. Strange that we both wanted her to stay with us, knowing we don't even have our dates for sleepovers.
