Chapter 52
Chapter 52 Fill in the Amount Yourself
Bradley was momentarily stunned by Jake’s retort. Thinking Jake was just in a bad mood because he lost, Bradley shrugged it off. “I won’t bother to ask that flighty woman. I’d rather steer clear of her.”
“Is that so?”
Gwen’s cold voice suddenly emerged from behind Bradley, causing him to jump.
He turned around and exclaimed, “How do you walk without making a sound?”
“I’m right here. Do you have something to ask?” Gwen stood firmly with her arms crossed. Her piercing gaze revealed that she had clearly overheard Bradley’s insult.
Jake remained quietly to the side. Though he didn’t directly look at Gwen, he inadvertently stole glances at her several
times.
For some
reason, his mood felt chaotic.
“Pfft, I’m not interested in women like you. Don’t push your luck. Go find your sugar daddy.” Bradley waved dismissively, his attitude dripping with disdain.
Gwen took a few steps closer in her high heels. Seeing that, Bradley instinctively took a step back
“Has anyone ever told you that you look just like a hag in the market when you’re gossiping?” Gwen remarked.
divorce. Incensed, Bradley shot back, “How dare you? You’ve been flaunting yourself in front of Jake even after your going as far as to ruin his collaboration. I’ve seen many scheming women like you, and you have the nerve to mock me? What a joke!”
Just then, a janitor wheeled a cleaning cart past them. Gwen seized a bucket of murky water that had just been used to clean the floor and dumped it all over Bradley.
Bradley was wearing a white linen suit today. When the water splashed over him, it not only drenched him but also revealed every detail of his physique. It was even more embarrassing than being completely naked in front of the public.
“Gwen Lawson! How dare you?”
“Does this meet your standards for what a sugar daddy should do?” Gwen pulled out a checkbook from her bag. She quickly signed her name and shoved it into the collar of Bradley’s suit.
“Fill in the amount yourself. I’ll cover the cost of your clothes and your humiliation. If I catch you gossiping about me again, it won’t just be dirty water you’ll be getting.”
With that, she strode away, her heels tapping on the ground.
Bradley glanced at the check. Indeed, it was blank, with Gwen’s signature prominently on it.
Turning to Jake, he asked, “She has lost her mind, hasn’t she? How am I supposed to go out and meet people looking like this?”
Jake replied coldly, “You had it coming.”
He then loosened his jacket and tossed it at Bradley’s face.
Bradley fumbled to push the jacket away and hurriedly covered his waist with it. Looking at the two who were completely indifferent to his plight, he yelled, “Hey! Why are you leaving? You think I deserve this, huh?”
Back at the office, Gwen checked in on the investment project department’s work over the past few days. She discovered that thanks to Theodore’s involvement, they had seen a noticeable increase in returns.
It was clear now that keeping Theodore in the project department was an incredibly wise choice.
Chap 52 Ful in the Amount Yoursel
Theodore had a keen instinct for venture capital from a young age. He founded his own investment firm as soon as he bought his first stocks.
By the age of 15, he had already made a name for himself on Wolf Street. If it hadn’t been for his father, Pedro Quinn, things might have turned out quite differently for him.
Pedro feared that Theodore would get lost in the world of money, so he insisted that Theodore return to the family business to learn management.
After reviewing the various reports, Gwen clocked out for the day.
As she stepped outside, a striking red sports car pulled up beside her. Theodore stepped out, this time bearing not a bouquet of roses but a beautifully wrapped box.
His charming eyes sparkled with a cheerful smile as he greeted her, “We meet again, milady.”
Gwen glanced at her watch and was about to say something.
“Don’t you dare start with that work talk now. It’s after hours,” Theodore replied earnestly. Clearly, he was still apprehensive about her earlier outburst.
Gwen looked at her watch and realized that indeed it was past 6:00 pm.
“You can’t block your boss‘ path during
Theodore gulped, looking a bit flustered. “I know you’re not a bad–tempered person. Is there some sort of misunderstanding between us?”
