Chapter 141 -
When they looked into each other's eyes, Rose's eyebrows inevitably fluttered. Asher's face slowly broke into a wicked smile. That suddenly made Rose slightly ill at ease. He was clearly in a very dangerous situation, but he looked so relaxed. What the hell was he thinking about?
Rose increasingly found that Asher's thoughts were very hard to be seen through. Recently, Asher made her feel pretty frustrated. She did not like that kind of feeling. In the end, she gnashed her teeth, and her gaze became stern.
"Miss Schmidt, do you know him?" Her assistant asked cautiously.
"You're not needed here. Get out," Rose said coldly.
Her assistant's heart skipped a beat before she left the office hurriedly.
At that moment, Asher averted his gaze from Rose's face. With a cigarette in his mouth, he
glanced at the members of the Gentlemen slowly. In the end, he fixed his gaze on Tristan's face and asked with a vague smile, "Did you gather these people?"
Tristan took a deep breath and pretended to say calmly, "So, what if it was me? Asher, you're going to get beaten up today!"
Asher was surrounded by the Gentlemen. That piece of news spread like wildfire in their circle. After all, the upper class was only that big. Besides, almost everyone in the circle was focused on that affair during that period. If anything happened, they would soon get the news.
"Why did Asher go out for nothing? He knows that the Gentlemen wants to deal with him. How could he worry others like this?" Layla had just received a call, telling her that Asher was surrounded by the members of the Gentlemen. She felt worried and angry at the same time. Mr. Knight looked at his granddaughter thoughtfully. He found that Layla's attitude toward Asher seemed to have changed. She did not seem so aloof toward Asher now.
Mr. Knight smiled happily and said, "I talked to your grandpa last time. He's still very confident in Asher. What's more, Asher has decided to stay. It proves that he must have a way to deal with the Gentlemen. So, we don't have to worry much about him. Maybe he can't wait for the Gentlemen to make a big move."
Layla pursed her lips and said, "Grandpa, I remember that you weren't very optimistic about Asher in the past."
Mr. Knight smiled and nodded. "That was in the past. People change. Asher is pretty good now. What's more, your attitude toward him has changed too, hasn't it?"
"Me?" Layla was stunned at first. "I'm his cousin, am I not? Grandpa, I'll talk to you later. I've got to go there and see what's going on."
"Hmm, go ahead. Don't forget to call me."
Layla nodded before she drove out.
At the Lanes.
"Maggie, I hear that Asher's in deep water. Rose isn't easy meat. She's got the Gentlemen as her trump card. So, she doesn't have any scruples about dealing with Asher. I think it's pretty hard for Asher to leave safe and sound since he's been surrounded."
The person who was talking was a young woman with a good figure. She was none other than Annette, Maggie's cousin.
Although Annette was a junior in the Lanes, she generally was unconcerned about the affairs of her circle. She rarely went out. However, now she claimed that she had heard of Asher's incident so quickly. That made Maggie slightly surprised.
"Annette, I remember that you don't care much about the things happening in our circle." Annette chuckled and said, "It depends. Both Asher and Rose are outstanding people in our circle. They're at daggers drawn. Honestly, I'm very interested in this. Maggie, do you think Asher can resolve the current trouble?"
Maggie wrinkled her nose and replied, "How would I know? I'm not close to them." After a pause, Maggie said, "Annette, why not we go and take a look?"
"Sure." After a brief hesitation, Annette nodded. "But it's best if we don't show ourselves. Both the Crawfords and the Schmidts are not weak. It's troublesome if we annoy any one of them." After the piece of news was spread, not only did Maggie and Layla rush there immediately, but the others were also very interested in this incident. After they gained the news, they drove toward Pearl Group.
"Asher, you're going to get beaten up today!"
Hearing Tristan's words, Asher could not help but frown. Was he going to be beaten up? After having lived for so many years, the only person who had ever beaten him up was Noelle. But who the hell was Tristan? How could he talk so arrogantly?
Asher took a deep drag of the cigarette before he looked at Tristan disdainfully. "With just you?" "Yes, just me! Why?" After he said that, Tristan felt that it was slightly improper. As such, he added, "I've got the support of the Gentlemen!"
"The Gentlemen? You scared the hell out of me." Asher maintained his sneer and a frivolous gaze. He did not care about those people in front of him. He then said bluntly, "A group of garbage has the guts to call themselves gentlemen. How ridiculous! Drive the cars away. Don't block the road!"
At that moment, the members of the Gentlemen were growing in numbers. There were just a dozen of them just now. Not long after, there were more than forty people.
However, there was something strange. Although there were a lot of them, they subconsciously backed down while facing Asher. No one dared to step forward and stand out among the crowd. Tristan's new girlfriend also could not help but size Asher up carefully. She had always heard of Asher's name in the past, but she had never met him. It was the first time that day.
She was meeting Asher for the first time, and she felt that he looked very handsome. Besides, he had an elegant temperament with a mysterious sense of maturity. It was vastly different from how she imagined Asher to be.
When she heard of Asher in the past, it was always someone getting beaten up. Consequently, she thought that Asher was a dumb and worthless rich heir with great muscles.
Even though Asher was facing so many members of the Gentlemen, he was not afraid at all. That was his aura and the unique charm of a man. On the contrary, there were many members of the Gentlemen. Although they seemed powerful and arrogant, they all looked timid now. That was the difference in their auras.
All those members of the Gentlemen bowed their heads or averted their gazes. They did not intend to speak. Seeing that, Tristan became angry. He shouted, "Aren't you guys very powerful? Why are you such cowards now? There are so many of us. Do we have to be afraid of him? Did you forget what Miss Schmidt said? You guys are afraid of him, but I'm not! "Asher, you've got two choices. Get down on your knees and beg for mercy. Or, get beaten up. Pick one!" Tristan pointed at Asher and said with great wrath.
However, Asher's eyes turned cold, and he said with a dull voice, "Tristan, you're given two choices too. First, get into your car and get lost right away. Second, be like Sam and spend the rest of your life in a wheelchair!"
Sam?
Everyone soon thought of the eldest son of the Schmidts. It was not an exaggeration to claim that Sam's status in the circle back then was only second to Sebastian. However, he still got beaten up by Asher until he became handicapped. It was very horrible.
The members of the Gentlemen looked at each other in dismay as they held their breaths. Tristan became very angry. He acted like he was about to fight against Asher. However, the woman beside him immediately pulled at him and shook her head gently at him. Her meaning was very clear. She wanted him to stop immediately.
However, Tristan did not heed her advice. He abruptly shook away her hand and said with a hideous expression, "Why? Are you scared, too? Don't be my girlfriend if you're scared! Get far away from me!" After that, he clenched his fists and walked toward Asher.
Tristan knew very well that someone had to be the leader in that affair that day. However, no one wanted to step forward. As such, he decided to be the first to take action. As long as he fought against Asher, the other members of the Gentlemen would give a hand.
"Tristan!" At that moment, Savannah's voice suddenly came from a near distance. Tristan turned around happily. As expected, Savannah had come. She was the second-in- command in the Gentlemen. It would become easier to resolve that issue with her here. "Sis, you're just in time. They're too afraid to make a move," Tristan said with indignation. Rose was not around, so Savannah was the pillar. The members of the Gentlemen hurriedly greeted Savannah, but she wore no expression. She stared straight at Tristan.
Savannah knew that Tristan would take the lead, so she rushed there hurriedly. Luckily, it was not too late.
"Dealing with Asher is what everyone in the Gentlemen should do. Why are you acting like a hero here?" Savannah glared at Tristan. Tristan wanted to say something, but he gave up after he saw her gaze.
"Step aside!"
A familiar voice was then heard. Asher looked over in the direction of the sound. It was none other than Layla. She barked at the members of the Gentlemen to clear a path for her. Only then was she able to get in and walk straight to Asher. She asked with a low voice, "Are you alright?"
