Mommy,We Got a Husband

Chapter 460 Illness Turned Out to Be a Great Help

Right after Stellan finished saying that, the air fell silent. A terrifying silence!

Alaric was at a loss for words, and Stellan, still fuming, didn't want to talk to him. The only thing you could hear was their breathing. After a few more seconds, Alaric grabbed Stellan's hand. Stellan tried to pull away, but Alaric held on tight and wouldn't let go.

"Galatea, I'm really sorry about Mia. Please don't be mad. I swear, I'll find her, okay?"

Was Stellan only mad about this? The reason he wanted Mia gone was to stop her from telling his whereabouts, which came from not trusting her.

Stellan said angrily, "Don't worry, even if we find Mia, I won't let her work here anymore."

"Galatea, I was just being stupid. Please don't be mad. When we find Mia, she can keep working here, and I won't have any objections." Alaric admitted his mistake sincerely. "Let's talk about it when we find her."

Whether they could find her was uncertain, and even if they did, Mia probably wouldn't want to come back.

"Alright, it's time for your treatment injection," Stellan reminded him. "If you're really in pain, just tell me. If you keep pretending, I'll give you another shot to make you really hurt."

"I wouldn't dare," Alaric said tactfully. "I'm the patient, and you're the doctor. My life is in your hands. I wouldn't dare act out. It's hard enough on you being so angry and still having to give me the treatment injection." "Shut up!"

Alaric obediently shut his mouth.

Although Stellan was still angry, she never let it affect her focus when giving Alaric his treatment injection. She was always fully concentrated and extremely serious.

After Stellan gave him the injection, Alaric slowly started to react, though the reaction was milder than before.

"How do you feel? Does anything hurt?" Stellan asked.

"It's okay," Alaric said, trying to find an opportunity to cheer her up. "Your medical skills are getting better. My reaction to the treatment injection is less each time, all thanks to you..." "Alaric, if you keep rambling, I really will give you another shot!"

"Then I'll shut up."

The two of them fell into silence again. Despite her anger, Stellan still prioritized Alaric's health, giving him water and massaging his body with great care.

For the first time, Alaric felt that being sick wasn't so bad. If he weren't a patient right now, he probably wouldn't even have the chance to say a word to Stellan.

"Honey, you worked late last night. Why don't you take a day off today?" Alaric asked cautiously.

Just as Stellan was about to respond, Alaric's phone rang. It was on the bedside table, so Stellan could see the caller ID.

It was Neil.

Seeing the name, Stellan's eyes flickered. "There's still work at the office. I have to go. There are doctors at home. Just tell them if you feel unwell." "Galatea..."

Before Alaric could finish calling her name, Stellan had already walked out.

Alaric felt a sense of resentment. He had thought Stellan would stay today, but Neil's call came at the worst possible time.

Seeing the call, Alaric's heart started pounding. He was really worried Neil was calling to say they had proof Stellan had accidentally pushed Marigold.

With that thought, Alaric lost the nerve to answer the phone. The ringing stopped, but soon enough, Neil called again.

There was no dodging it.

Alaric picked up. "Neil."

Neil asked, "Why didn't you answer the phone? I have something important to tell you."

Something important?

"What?" Alaric felt like he didn't even have the guts to ask.

"Great news! Bill confessed. Now we have a witness for Ambrose's murder of Todd. Once we find physical evidence, we can arrest Ambrose. It's a big breakthrough." Neil, all pumped up after getting Bill's confession, couldn't stop talking. "We were so focused on the surveillance footage that we forgot about such an important witness. We took quite a detour, but we finally succeeded." Hearing it was about Todd's case and not related to Stellan, Alaric let out a sigh of relief.

"That's really great news," Alaric said, not really feeling it.

"But you told me before that the Vale family was involved in the Storm family case. Stellan also called me last time, saying there's someone behind Stuart.

The Vale family is involved in so many things. We don't need to rush to arrest Ambrose. We can slowly gather evidence and wait for the person behind Stuart to appear before arresting the Vale family. What do you think?"

"Neil, you're very thorough," Alaric said.

"Why do you sound so weak? Did you just get a treatment injection?" Neil asked.

"Yeah, just finished."

"Look at me, calling at the worst time. Alright, you rest. I just couldn't wait to tell you about the big breakthrough."

"Okay," Alaric responded faintly and then hung up the phone.

Ambrose had committed so many crimes that, no matter how perfect the methods, there were bound to be flaws. Alaric wasn't surprised that Ambrose would slip up.

What concerned him now was Tommy. From the surveillance footage yesterday, did Stuart cave so quickly just because Ambrose lost it and tried to push him down the stairs? Was there another reason? After Ambrose's outburst yesterday, his position was restored, and he was back in his old office with the same setup.

Since Neil took him away, a lot of work had piled up at the company, and there were many documents on his desk that needed his approval.

But after looking at them for a while, Ambrose couldn't focus. He picked up his water cup to take a sip, but as soon as he lifted it, his hand slipped, and the cup fell to the ground, shattering into pieces. Ambrose stared at the fragments, feeling like he was looking at himself. Recently, he had been feeling particularly anxious and had been having all sorts of bad dreams.

"Mr. Vale, is everything alright?" Tommy said.

As he stared at the fragments in a daze, Tommy hurried in after hearing the noise. Seeing the broken cup, he quickly brought tools to clean it up.

Ambrose watched as Tommy collected the fragments and eventually threw them into the trash.
