Chapter 459 Your Acting Isn't That Good
Alaric was acting all buddy-buddy, and Stellan was just not having it.
Stellan walked into the hall, with Alaric trailing behind, saying, "I've already left records at all the train stations and airports. The moment there's any news about Mia, I'll know." Stellan replied, "No need, I already called the cops. They'll handle it."
"You called the cops?" Alaric was surprised. "Well, that's good. They have more resources than we do."
Stellan didn't say anything.
Just then, Caspian, Harry, and Elisa came out of the bathroom after their showers. They saw Stellan and greeted her, "Mommy, you're back?"
"It's late, go to bed," Stellan said coldly, heading straight to the guest room.
The three turned to Alaric.
"Daddy, we just helped you make up with her last time, and now you've upset Mommy again?" Elisa was really annoyed.
Arguments were something these kids couldn't handle. They had tried their best last time, but here they were arguing again so soon.
"It's just a misunderstanding. Can you help me make up with your mommy again?" Alaric pleaded.
"You guys are really hard to educate. We have to go to school and also help resolve family conflicts. It's exhausting," Harry said, distressed. "Especially Caspian, who isn't very tall or emotionally intelligent. Putting this kind of pressure on him, aren't you afraid he'll end up a dwarf?"
Caspian shouted, "Harry, are you looking for a fight? You're the dwarf!"
"Don't insult yourself. If I'm a dwarf, then you're even less than a dwarf."
"As long as no one gets seriously hurt, you two can fight all you want," Alaric said, giving up on managing Caspian and Harry.
Alaric then walked to the guest room door and knocked lightly. "Galatea, can I come in?"
"I'm already asleep. Whatever you have to say, say it tomorrow."
Since that was the case, he decided to let her cool off. "Alright, then sleep well. Goodnight."
After saying that, Alaric returned to his bedroom. It seemed like it would be another sleepless night.
Why were there so many troubling things? One problem wasn't resolved before another one came along, never allowing any peace.
Stellan didn't want to be so petty as to deliberately ignore Alaric, but she was just feeling frustrated. If Mia couldn't be found or something happened to her, Stellan wouldn't forgive herself, let alone Alaric.
The next morning, Alaric got up early to make breakfast. Seeing Stellan come downstairs, he said ingratiatingly, "Galatea, come and grab a bite."
Stellan said nothing and sat down at the dining table. The three also came down and joined her.
As they started eating, Alaric kept giving the three meaningful looks. They didn't want to help, but he was their dad after all.
Harry decided to try to help them reconcile and smiled, "Mom..."
"Shut up!" Stellan snapped before Harry could finish. "From now until you leave for school, anyone who says a word will have to leave."
The three quickly lowered their heads and ate in silence, avoiding Alaric's gaze. Alaric just sighed, feeling helpless.
The kids finished their breakfast as fast as they could, then put down their bowls and said, "Mommy, we're done!" "Then go to school."
The three exchanged looks and reached a mutual understanding.
"Daddy, Mommy, since you two are busy with treatment, we won't get in your way. We can stay at school." Alaric immediately protested, "Who said you could stay at school? Elementary students don't stay at school."
"Staying at school helps us grow more independent. We're willing, Daddy," Elisa quickly added.
Alaric was really frustrated. These little traitors, not only were they not helping, but they also wanted to escape.
"Caspian, you're the oldest. You decide," Alaric said, looking at Caspian pleadingly.
Harry and Elisa also looked at Caspian the same way. Caspian apologized to Alaric, "Sorry, Daddy. I think Harry and Elisa are right. Staying at school is good." These little deserters!
"Then we're off to school. Goodbye, Daddy, Mommy!"
The three grabbed their backpacks and ran out. Once in the car, they all breathed a sigh of relief.
"That was close. I almost became the scapegoat," Harry sighed.
"It seems Daddy really messed up this time. We can't help," Elisa said.
"Running away is a good idea," Caspian said seriously.
The three were usually Alaric's best helpers, but this time they were powerless.
Now it was just Alaric and Stellan, and awkwardly, today was also Alaric's treatment day.
"Finish your breakfast and then lie in the bed. I'll give you your injection," Stellan said coolly. Alaric nodded.
He had no choice but to comply, obediently lying on the bed in the bedroom. Soon, Stellan came in with the medical kit.
As she prepared the injection, Alaric said, "I'm sorry, Galatea."
"There's nothing to be sorry about. I also mishandled things with Mia. You're used to being independent and not having someone intentionally watching over your life. I understand." "No, it's not that," Alaric started, but before he could finish, Stellan injected him. This time it really hurt a bit.
"Don't talk after the injection," Stellan said, pulling out the needle. "If you feel unwell, let me know."
"Okay," Alaric replied.
Usually, he had reactions to the injections, and Stellan would get very worried. Was this a good chance to show some pain and make her feel better?
But why wasn't there any reaction this time? Was it the same injection as before?
"I'm in so much pain..." Alaric pretended to be in agony. "My whole body hurts, I feel nauseous, weak, and dizzy..."
"Stop pretending. Your acting isn't that good."
"Seeing that you didn't eat much this morning, I just gave you a glucose injection first. The treatment injection hasn't been given yet," Stellan said coldly.
