Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 257

With a sudden crash, the car jolted violently, causing Selena's ultrasound photo to slip from her fingers and slide under the seat. The force of the impact sent her body lurching forward, and her forehead slammed against the back of the seat, making her groan in pain. Luckily, she'd instinctively buckled her seatbelt when she got in, which softened the blow-otherwise, she might have been thrown forward entirely. The taxi driver was caught off guard, not expecting to get rear-ended while parked. He turned to check on Selena, "Miss, are you okay?"

Selena managed a feeble wave to signal she was somewhat alright.

Just then, the car behind them opened up, and out stepped a woman strutting in high heels, her demeanor dripping with arrogance. The driver got out to have words with her, but before he could speak, she started shouting, "Do you even know how to drive? Why did you stop so suddenly-are you trying to kill someone?"

Even for a seasoned driver, her audacity left him speechless. "How can you talk like that? Didn't you see the red light? My car had stopped properly, and you rammed into it. Who doesn't know how to drive here?"

"Hey, old man, where's your proof that I was reckless? If you dare slander me, I'll sue you for defamation, and you'll live to regret it!" she snapped, growing even more domineering.

The driver, a straightforward and honest guy, noticed her designer clothes and jewelry, not to mention the limited edition sports car, and realized she was a spoiled heiress. Her threat of a lawsuit made him back down. He knew how adept wealthy folks' lawyers were at twisting truths. Ordinary people wouldn't dare take on someone so powerful, preferring to swallow their misfortune.

"Alright, alright, I can't win an argument with you. Let's just wait for the traffic cops to handle it."

He walked over to Selena's side, tapping on the window. When she rolled it down, he said apologetically, "Miss, I can't drive off right now. Do you want to call another cab?"

Selena nodded gently, realizing she couldn't just wait around. Plus, the impact didn't seem bad at first, but now she felt a headache coming on and her stomach felt a bit off... "Okay, I'll book another cab."

As she pulled out her phone to open the app, a hand suddenly snatched it. away. Looking up, she was

momentarily blinded by the bright sun before seeing Rebecca's sharp, beautiful yet hostile face.

"Selena, why is it always you? Like a bad penny! You bring trouble every time!"

Rebecca?! No wonder the voice sounded familiar.

Selena, too drained to deal with Rebecca, decided to ignore her taunts, her voice calm as she said, "Give me back my phone."

Rebecca's eyes locked onto Selena's

pale face, noticing the sweat beading on her forehead. She

s fragile

recalled the doctor mentioning. Selena's pregnancy

any shock or stress could easily lead to a miscarriage.

With a cold smile, Rebecca tossed the phone to the ground, "If you want it, come and get it yourself."

Selena's brows knitted slightly.

Rebecca's constant antics were exhausting, but she knew from experience that engaging only encouraged her. Pressing her lips together, Selena said nothing, slowly got out of the car, took a couple of steps forward, and bent down to pick up her phone.
