Chapter 750
Grant walked over, his face set like stone, his voice sharp as a knife. "Isaac, I thought I made myself clear. If you come near, I won't hesitate to break your legs." Isaac felt a chill run down his spine at the sight of Grant. The man's presence was colder than even their eldest brother's.
Quickly, Isaac plastered on a smile, trying to play it cool. "Hey, bro, Taylor and I-it was love at first sight..."
Before he could finish, Grant's foot landed square on his chest. Isaac staggered back, coughing hard.
Taylor rushed over, clearly shaken. "Grant, what are you doing?"
Grant sneered, "Did you really think I was kidding about breaking his legs?"
"Grant, this isn't fair."
"Taylor, this guy's a player, a smooth-talker who's breezed through life without a care. I can't let you be with someone so slippery."
Isaac, holding his chest, stepped forward with a serious look. "Grant, I'm serious about Taylor. All that past stuff? Just messing around. I promise I'll be there for her, I'll marry her." Grant shot back, "Like my sister can't do better? Your promise means nothing."
Isaac replied earnestly, "Then let me become part of your family."
A crowd had gathered by now, including some of the Eldridge Elites, who were familiar with Isaac. Many were snickering at him, but Isaac stood firm, unfazed.
Grant's expression softened a bit, but he didn't let up. "You know exactly how you two got together, fooling my sister with your tricks. If you can take three punches from me today, I'll let it slide." Isaac nodded quickly, "Alright."
Taylor looked worried, "My brother's a pro at boxing, how can you handle it?"
Isaac smiled, "For you, not just three punches, even thirty wouldn't be too much."
"If I didn't know today was Mr. Grant's birthday, I'd think we were at some Kind of fight club," a teasing voice chimed in from nearby
Chloe lit up with surprise. She hadn't expected Connor to arrive so fast.
She hurried over, "How'd you get here so quickly?"
Connor, with a gentle voice, wrapped an arm around Chloe's waist, "I was just nearby at another event."
Connor approached Grant, "Mr. Grant, on such a happy day as your birthday, maybe we can skip the fighting, don't you think?"
Grant's expression hardened at the sight of Connor, "Mr. Connor, this isn't your concern."
"I'd rather not step in, but my wife's taken the Shaw family elders as her godparents. If their second son gets hurt while she's around, how could she face herself? Or the elders?"
Hearing Connor repeatedly mention his wife, Grant's eyes darkened.
Chloe chimed in, "Yeah, Grant, Isaac even said if they marry, he'd join our family. I think his feelings for Taylor are real."
Chloe had been caught up in the drama, almost forgetting Isaac was her godbrother. But given their ties, she felt she had to step in.
After Chloe's words, Grant's
demeanor softened noticeably.. Finally, he said, "Isaac, if you ever let my sister down, I'll make sure you're really sorry."
