Can't Win Me Back (Isabella and Nathan)

Chapter 51

Nathan's face turned ashen, and he shouted at Isabella in a low voice, "Isabella, your Sis is this sick, and not only do you not care about her, you still try to take me away. If I leave, who will take care of her? Are you seriously trying to get her killed?" Isabella furrowed her brows. "You're not a doctor, and you're not her direct blood relative. I don't understand how your staying here would help my Sis's condition."

Victoria suddenly broke into loud sobs. "I understand now, Bella, you came here to fight me for Nathan. I, a patient, can't compete with you. You can take Nathan away."

"I won't leave you, Victoria. Don't cry," Nathan turned to fiercely scold Isabella. "Isabella, how can you be so heartless?"

Isabella couldn't help but laugh at Nathan's double standards.

How many times in the past had she been sick with a high fever, yet Nathan would abandon her to go climb mountains with Victoria to watch the sunrise? When she complained to him about his coldness and indifference, he would impatiently scold her: "Isabella, I'm not a doctor. It's useless to come to me when you're sick."

Isabella spoke each word clearly: "Nathan, when I was sick with a fever, when I had to undergo kidney donation surgery, when I..."

And when I struggled to get pregnant...

"Where were you then?"

Faced with Isabella's accusations, Nathan felt a pang of guilt. He lowered his voice, "I know I neglected you in the past. I won't do it again." Isabella turned to him, her voice cold. "Nathan, there's no 'we' in the future."

She left those words behind and turned to walk away.

Nathan stood there, stunned. The words she had just spoken echoed in his mind: *There is no future for us.* What did that mean?

Isabella left the hospital, pulled out a recorder from her bag, and kissed it lightly.

"Nathan, all the favoritism you've shown Victoria will eventually backfire."

Victoria's condition continued to fluctuate, and several times, the doctors even issued life-threatening notices. Nathan nearly gave up all his work to stay by her side. Naturally, he had no time or energy to deal with what had happened at the banquet.

But the best hospital in the capital, with the best doctors, eventually stabilized Victoria's condition after a month. However, when Nathan returned to his career, he realized the landscape in the capital had already changed. Taking advantage of Nathan's neglect of his work, Theodore had taken over several of his nearby projects.

Nathan's performance took a sharp dive.

After a temper tantrum, he began reflecting: *How did I lose to Theodore?*

A young, inexperienced boy?

The saying goes, "Know yourself and know your enemy, and you will win every battle."

In order to find the reason for his crushing defeat, Nathan humbly instructed his assistant: "I want all the data on Theodore's acquisition of the company's projects." Not long after, his assistant brought in a thick stack of files.

Nathan stayed up late, going through the documents. His focus shifted to the projects Theodore had taken from him.

When he saw the design projects that Theodore had bid on, for the first time, he found himself losing with a sense of begrudging admiration.

In the past two years, he had been especially focused on Victoria. To support her career, he had entrusted her with many of the company's important design projects. There was no doubt that Victoria had talent. She had won many profitable projects for him at first.

But her talents...

When compared to Theodore's design team, they seemed lacking.

Whether it was the craftsmanship in the design drafts or the innate talent of the designers, Victoria appeared to be falling short.

Nathan sighed. "That kid Theodore... He may be young, but his vision is so sharp. He actually managed to recruit such a hidden gem of a designer."

Nathan couldn't help but feel a mix of envy, jealousy, and hatred toward Theodore, which soon evolved into a base thought-*to poach Theodore's chief designer.*

He spoke with great seriousness to his assistant, "I want the designer's information from the other company. Get it to me as soon as possible." "Understood."

As the assistant was leaving the office, he suddenly remembered something. "Oh, and Mr. Hill, the chairman has stopped the company's financial assistance to Miss Moore... her medical bills are overdue." Nathan's face darkened immediately. After a long silence, he muttered through clenched teeth, "Deduct it from my personal account."

The assistant hesitated and then added, "This month, you missed three company meetings. The chairman was furious and, in front of all the shareholders, announced that all of your bank cards have been frozen." Nathan was stunned. He felt powerless and simply said, "I see."

In the evening, Nathan returned home, dragging his tired body in a dejected manner.

At the entrance of the house, he saw his father-in-law and mother-in-law, walking hand-in-hand, unusually harmonious, as they joined forces to confront their mutual enemy-Isabella.

Mr. Moore anxiously said, "Isabella, your Sis is seriously ill. She needs a lot of money, and we don't have the funds to treat her anymore. You have to help us."

Isabella stood on the high stairs, looking down at them.

Mr. Moore's silver hair and his anxious expression were not fake. He truly cared about his eldest daughter. But the more he cared for Victoria, the harder Isabella's heart became. Her father's favoritism made her feel a physical disgust for the concept of paternal love for the first time in her life.

"Reason?"

She slightly parted her lips, coldly uttering two words.

Mr. Moore, furious, rolled up his sleeves and raised his fist. "Your Sis is sick. As her younger Sis, it's only natural for you to support her financially. What more reason do you need?" Isabella looked at him with disdain. Did he really think she was still the same little girl he could control?

"The law doesn't say that a younger Sis has an obligation to support her elder Sis," Isabella replied.

Mr. Moore gritted his teeth. "How did I end up with such a heartless and ungrateful daughter? If I'd known you would turn out to be so vile, I should have strangled you when you were born!" Isabella suddenly laughed a laugh full of tears.

Mr. Moore's worry for Victoria was written all over his face, but his disdain for her was just as clear.

Isabella sneered. "Regret having me, don't you? Well, I also regret it. I regret not opening my eyes when I reincarnated and ended up with such a negligent father."

Isabella didn't want to waste any

more time on him. "If you want money, hire a lawyer to study the Civil Code carefully. Someone

me, a bird in a wealthy famil

cage,

should be paying how muchin support fees?"

After saying this, Isabella turned and left, her steps light and carefree.

Mr. Moore was on the verge of breaking down. "Isabella, if you don't help your Sis, she won't live much longer. I'm begging you... If you're willing to pay for her treatment ..... I will allow you to return to the Moore family."

Isabella looked back at him, smiling brightly. "No thanks. I've been there before, and that was... my personal hell on earth. I never want to return to that place in this lifetime. Sozin order to avoid that hell, I absolutely will not spend a single penny on Victoria's treatment."

Nathan watched as Isabella happily skipped into the villa, her steps lighter than he had ever seen before.

A sense of inexplicable heaviness sank in his chest.

This Isabella was so unfamiliar to him now. She had once been the most filial girl.

How had she become so cold-hearted, so indifferent to love?
