Chapter 105
After this scare, Victoria's previously stable condition began to deteriorate again. Upon returning to the hospital, she started running a fever. However, her medical bills were unpaid, and after several reminders from the doctor to settle the fees, it was evident that his demeanor towards her was no longer as respectful as before.
Victoria was sensitive and fragile, and she cried loudly in the hospital.
With no help available, she desperately called Thea. "I kept my promise to you."
After seeing this text message, Thea's beautiful face revealed a hint of a determined smile.
"Nathan, Victoria, your doomsday is approaching."
When Nathan finished recording the third episode, he received a call from the hospital. The doctor informed him that Victoria was critically ill and criticized him in a somewhat harsh tone. "Mr. Nathan, your wife's medical expenses have been overdue for too long. You are not a person who lacks money, so please promptly pay the medical fees, otherwise the hospital won't be able to proceed with the rescue properly."
Nathan had never experienced the treatment of the poor before. When the doctor said a few words to him, his ears involuntarily turned red.
"Sorry, I was busy with work and forgot to make the payment," he said wearily.
The doctor admonished him again, "Mr. Nanthan, I understand that you are busy with work. However, you are the patient's family member, and you have a responsibility towards the patient. The patient has been frequently experiencing emotional instability lately, and even secretly leaving the hospital, causing her condition to fluctuate. I hope you, as a family member, take this seriously. Do not blame the hospital for negligence after any unfavorable outcomes."
Nathan dragged his exhausted body to the hospital.
I haven't seen Victoria for nearly twenty days, and when I saw her again, she was as thin as a piece of paper. Her whole body seemed skeletal, and she looked like a ghost. Her once attractive facial features now had sunken eye sockets and deep hollows on both sides of her cheeks. Her skin was rough and waxen yellow, making her look like a forty-year-old woman.
Nathan stood still, and in that moment, his mind inexplicably went blank. He couldn't figure out his feelings towards Victoria. Was it pity and sympathy, or a hint of disdain?
Victoria saw him and tears flowed before she could speak. "Nathan, you have finally come back."
The heartfelt call awakened Nathan's love for Victoria completely. Nathan dropped his luggage and hurriedly ran over, tightly holding Victoria's hand, feeling extremely guilty. "Victoria, what happened to you?"
Victoria's eyes flashed with anger. "It's all Thea's fault. It was her who ruined me like this. She framed my dad and sent him to prison. After my dad disappeared, no one cared about me anymore. Sob... Nathan, you have to stand up for me."
Nathan had loved Victoria all his life, and when he saw Victoria crying so sadly, a sudden anger rose in him towards Thea.
"Victoria, don't be sad. I will find a way to rescue Dad," Nathan comforted.
Victoria shook her head in despair, "It's useless, Nathan. Don't waste your efforts. Thea has Theo backing her up, and now you are the abandoned child of the Hill family, you can't compete with Theo."
Nathan was most afraid of people saying he couldn't do it, which instantly angered him. "Who does Theo think he is? When I was hustling on the streets, he hadn't even grown a single hair."
Victoria's eyes sparkled with intelligence, "But Nathan, the elders of the Hill family would not allow you to offend their business partners. If you go against Theo, would the elders of the Hill family strip you of your rights in the Hill Group?"
Victoria's gentleness and understanding completely triggered Nathan's protective instincts. He caressed Victoria's head and gritted his teeth, saying, "If I, Nathan, can't even protect my own wife, what use is the power of the Hill Group?"
Victoria was deeply moved and said, "Nathan, you have been so kind to me. I must have done a lot of good deeds in my past life for the heavens to let me meet you."
Nathan loved being admired and looked up to by Victoria. He embraced Victoria and said affectionately, "Victoria, you must take good care of yourself, eat well, and not make me worry. Only then can I focus on my work and strive for a happy and fulfilling future for us."
Victoria blushed and said, "Um. I would obey."
After settling Victoria, Nathan returned home, took a shower, and went to sleep. Then, the next day at dawn, he cornered Thea at her doorstep.
Thea looked at Nathan quietly and jokingly said, "Prince, you've lost weight. It seems being an actor is not easy."
She was bringing up the issue that Nathan didn't want to talk about, which made him very unhappy.
Nathan glared at her fiercely, "Thea, I didn't expect you to be so malicious, to actually go after your own biological father?"
Thea laughed recklessly, "Are you here today to plead for my father?"
Nathan's heart inexplicably surged as he watched her call him "dad" so naturally, as if she wasn't the
same daughter who had once wanted to separate from the Moore family.
Thea has always been innocent, and her emotions would always show on her face.
But Thea, who appears to be smiling on the surface, actually wants to kill you a thousand times in her heart. People who are two-faced like this are the most terrifying.
"Thea, I was the only one who ever
hurt you. It was me who schemed to deceive you and bring you back home. It was me who persuaded you to donate a kidney to Victoria And it was me who went back on my word and failed to fulfill my duties as a husband. It's understandable that you hate me, but you shouldn't have to suffer because of my actions."
Thea smirked wickedly, her smile sending chills down one's spine. "Nathan, do you think you can escape? Don't worry, it will be your turn sooner or later."
Nathan's complexion gradually faded as he stared at Thea in disbelief. The once youthful, bright, gentle and kind girl now wore the disguise of a devil, smirking proudly at him.
Thea approached him and gently hooked his tie with her hand, her actions ambiguous, but her words sent chills down one's spine.
"Nathan, haven't you noticed that your days have been getting worse and worse?"
Nathan had just woken up from a dream, and ever since Thea went back to her country, his bad luck had been following one after another. It turned out that all his misfortunes
were caused by Thea's mischief.
He was always unwilling to believe that Thea hated him.
"Do you hate me that much?"
QUMS
Thea said lightly, "You have asked me this question many times before. Today, I will answer you seriously:
yes, I hated you. I wished you were dead."
Both she and her daughter died young, how could he die of old age?
Nathan froze and said, "Isabella, you could hate me, you could seek revenge on me. But you shouldn't let your twisted thoughts affect Victoria."
Thea looked at him sarcastically and said, "Nathan, you are nothing but a paper tiger. Don't just talk big, if you really have the ability, then protect her well."
Nathan confidently declared, "Just wait, I will soon rescue your father."
"Based on you?"
Nathan always felt that Thea
underestimated him. He, the prince, thought it would be a piece of cake to rescue someone from prison. Besides, what Master Moore had done was not a big deal.
Thea smiled knowingly.
"I waited with bated breath."
After Thea finished speaking, she left without looking back.
Nathan watched her resolute figure, feeling no trace of attachment towards himself anymore. He was somewhat perplexed.
What is the so-called "the deeper the hatred, the deeper the love"? Why can't he perceive even a hint of love from Thea towards him?
