Winning Back His Ex's Wife's Broken Heart

Chapter 21

Sarah's

POV

Over the next few days, things started changing quickly. Wesley wasn't just talking-he was making things happen.

Suddenly, Vitalé Wellness had more exposure than I'd ever imagined.

New clients, partnerships, and even investors were coming out of the woodwork, all wanting a piece of what we were building. And Wesley... he was there every step of the way. Helping. Supporting. In ways I'd only ever wished someone would.

I couldn't help but think back to Richard. When I was with him, I had always wanted this kind of partnership.

Someone who believed in my vision, and who saw the potential in my business the way I did.

But Richard was never really there. He was always focused on himself, on his own company.

He didn't even look at me twice, he had treated me like I was some kind of shit.

Wesley wasn't like that.

We were sitting in a meeting one afternoon, going over a new marketing campaign he had helped put together.

As we talked, I realized how easily he saw the same potential in my company that I did.

He wasn't just making suggestions; he was building a future with me, something Richard had never even tried to do.

"Sarah, look at these projections," Wesley said, sliding a stack of papers across the table.

"This is where Vitalé Wellness is heading. These aren't just dreams anymore. You're on the verge of becoming a major player."

I glanced at the charts. The numbers were staggering. "This... this is real?"

Wesley smiled. "More than real. This is just the beginning. You've worked hard for this, Sarah. It's about time you got what you deserved."

His words hit me in a way I hadn't expected. There was something so genuine about the way he said it.

He wasn't just giving me lip service; he truly believed in me, in us.

It felt strange, though, comparing him to Richard. I never wanted to do that, but I couldn't help it.

When I was with Richard, I used to crave this kind of partnership, where someone would take me and my dreams seriously.

But with Wesley, I didn't have to ask for that. He was already there, putting in the effort without me even mentioning it.

"Thank you," I said, my voice quiet but sincere. "For everything. I don't think I've ever had someone believe in me like this."

Wesley leaned back in his chair, watching me. "You don't need to thank me. You're doing all the hard work."

He continued. "I'm just helping guide things a little. But I have to be honest with you, Sarah. There's something more I've been thinking about."

I frowned. "What do you mean?"

He cleared his throat, leaning in. "This partnership, it's already been good for both of us."

"But I think we need to make it official. Vitalé Wellness and my company... we should merge. I know I've mentioned it before, but I think now is the time to seriously consider it." A merger? The thought sent a ripple of excitement through me, but also a hint of uncertainty.

Merging meant more control and more growth, but it also meant giving up a part of Vitalé Wellness.

"Wesley, are you sure?" I asked, my voice betraying the doubt I was feeling. "I mean, things are going so well right now. Do we really need to merge?"

"Look," he said, his tone soft but firm, "I wouldn't suggest it if I didn't think it was the best thing for both of us."

"This industry is cutthroat. You need more resources, more reach, and I can give you that. But we need to act now before someone else tries to take you down."

His words made sense. The competition was getting fiercer, especially with bigger companies looming in the background.

But Wesley had a point. If I didn't act soon, someone else might. And having him on my side, making sure I had the support I needed, felt... right.

"I'll think about it," I finally said.

He smiled, leaning back again. "That's all I ask."

As the days passed, Wesley continued to show up in ways I'd never experienced with Richard.

He wasn't just there when it was convenient for him; he was there all the time.

Late-night strategy calls, and spontaneous brainstorming sessions.

He never made me feel like I was bothering him or that my business wasn't important.

In fact, it felt like my success was just as important to him as it was to me.

One evening, after a long day, Wesley surprised me by showing up with dinner in hand.

"I figured you'd be too busy to cook," he said, setting the bags down on the kitchen counter.

I laughed, shaking my head. "You've got me figured out."

He smiled, a little softer this time. "Sarah, I'm serious. I want to see you succeed. Whatever it takes."

I sat down at the table, watching as he unpacked the food. This... this was the kind of support I had always dreamed of.

Someone who didn't just see my work as a side project but saw it as something worth fighting for.

"You know," I started, "I used to wish Richard would care about me the way you do."

Wesley's eyes flickered, but he said nothing. Instead, he handed me a plate and sat down across from me.

"He never really got it," I continued, unable to stop myself.

"He was always so caught up in his own company, in his own world. I thought maybe one day he'd show interest, maybe try to see me. But it never happened." Wesley nodded slowly. "It's his loss, Sarah. He didn't see what he had right in front of him."

I looked down at my food, suddenly feeling a wave of emotions I wasn't ready for.

But as I glanced up at Wesley, I knew one thing for sure: I wasn't going to let the past hold me back.

Not when I had someone who finally believed in me, in everything I wanted to build.

"I guess you're right," I said softly.

Wesley smiled again, that same confident grin that made me feel like we were unstoppable. "Trust me, Sarah. We're going to take Vitalé Wellness to places you've only dreamed of." Wesley leaned back in his chair, running a hand through his hair, looking more serious than usual. We had been talking about the partnership for a while, and things were moving fast. Too fast, maybe.

"I've been putting off the press," he said, his voice lower than normal. "But I can't keep doing that."

He grinned at me. "They're all over this. They want an official statement from the CEO of Vitalé Wellness."

I swallowed, feeling the pressure rise. A press conference? That was big. Bigger than anything I'd done before.

"When?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Tomorrow," he said, watching me closely. "We need to get ahead of this."

I froze. Tomorrow? It was so soon. "Tomorrow?" I echoed, feeling my heartbeat quicken.

Wesley nodded, his eyes locked on mine. "I know it's sudden, but it'll be fine. I'll be there with you."

I looked away, feeling a knot form in my stomach. The thought of standing in front of cameras, answering questions... It was overwhelming.

"I don't know, Wesley. I'm not sure I'm ready for something this big."

He stood up, moving to my side, his hand resting gently on my shoulder. "Sarah, you'll be fine. You've worked hard for this. We both have. And like I said, I'll be right there."

I took a deep breath, looking at him. He was calm, and confident, like nothing could shake him.

Maybe that's what I needed. His confidence. "As long as you're with me," I said quietly.

He smiled a soft but reassuring smile, and reached for my hand. "I won't let go of you."

His words hung in the air, heavier than they should've been. There was something about the way he said it, like a promise.

But it felt... too close. Too personal.

I forced a small smile, but the tension between us felt thick. I turned away, pretending to focus on the papers in front of me, trying to shake off the feeling.

"You don't need to worry," Wesley said, his voice lighter again. "We're in this together."

I nodded, but my mind was elsewhere, trying to figure out why that simple sentence-I won't let go of you-had made my stomach twist.

It was just business, right? Wesley was just being supportive. That's what I told myself.
