Winning Back His Ex's Wife's Broken Heart

Chapter 14

Sarah's POV.

Later that night, as I sat on my balcony overlooking the city lights, I thought about Wesley's offer. He had come into my life just when I needed someone, a guiding hand in this vast, unfamiliar city.

It felt almost too good to be true, but I pushed that thought aside. I couldn't afford to second-guess every opportunity. Not now, when things were finally starting to look up.

For the next few days, I threw myself into work with renewed energy. I followed up on Wesley's suggestions, refined my business plans, and started preparing for the upcoming mixer. The more I worked, the more confident I felt. Madrid was beginning to feel less like a foreign land and more like a place where I could belong.

The day of the mixer arrived, and I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting my dress.

It was a simple yet elegant outfit, something that said I was here to make an impression but not trying too hard.

My stomach fluttered with nerves. This was an important night, a chance to really make some headway.

Wesley picked me up, looking sharp in a tailored suit. "You look great," he said as I got into the car.

"Thank you," I replied, trying to steady my nerves.

He gave me a reassuring smile. "Relax, Sarah. You're going to do just fine. Tonight is about making connections. Just be yourself."

I nodded, taking a deep breath. "Okay. Let's do this."

The mixer was held at an upscale venue, and the room was filled with well-dressed people mingling and chatting.

Wesley guided me through the crowd, introducing me to key figures. I listened, shook hands, and engaged in conversations, following his lead.

As the evening went on, I started to feel more at ease. People seemed receptive to my ideas, and Wesley's presence by my side made it easier to navigate the room.

He knew exactly when to step in and when to let me take the lead, striking the perfect balance.

By the end of the night, I had a handful of new contacts and a sense that doors were beginning to open.

Wesley drove me back to my apartment, and as we said goodnight, I couldn't help but feel grateful.

"You did great tonight," he said, his smile warm. "I knew you would."

"Thanks to you," I replied. "I wouldn't have even known where to start without your help."

He shrugged casually. "That's what friends are for. Remember, I'm here if you need anything."

As I watched him drive away, I felt a mix of emotions. Gratitude, hope, and a touch of uncertainty.

Wesley was proving to be a valuable ally, but a small voice in the back of my mind reminded me to stay cautious.

A few days later, I was running late for a meeting. I rushed out of my apartment, my hair still damp from the shower.

As I reached the elevator, I saw Wesley waiting outside. He was holding a coffee cup, looking relaxed.

"Morning, Sarah," he said with a smile. "I thought you might need this."

I blinked, surprised. "How did you know I'd be running late?"

He chuckled. "You mentioned last week that you're always in a rush in the mornings. I figured you might need a pick-me-up."

I took the coffee, feeling a warm flutter of appreciation. "That's really thoughtful. Thanks."

"No problem," Wesley said, holding the door open for me as we got into the elevator. "I've been there too, so I get it."

As we drove to the cafe where my meeting was scheduled, Wesley kept up a light, friendly conversation.

He talked about his own experiences with starting businesses and offered practical tips. His advice was always spot-on, and it made me feel more confident. When we arrived at the cafe, Wesley held the door open for me, a small but considerate gesture that made me smile.

"Thank you," I said, stepping inside.

"Of course," Wesley replied with a grin.

And since then, Wesley really showed he was truly a friend, he would FaceTime anytime I was working late.

He would bring me a bag of pastries anytime I was working too hard, I was touched.

Simple things mattered and I couldn't help but think about how different this felt from my past with Richard.

Wesley's little gestures-remembering my favorite coffee, holding doors open, bringing me pastries-were things I hadn't experienced in a long time.

Thanks to Wesley's support and the connections he helped me make, my business began to take off.

But as my company grew, I realized that I needed a more substantial space to really make things happen.

One afternoon, Wesley dropped by my office, his usual confident smile in place. He was holding a folder and looked more excited than usual.

"Hey, Sarah," he greeted, setting the folder on my desk. "I've got something to show you."

I looked up from my computer, curious. "What's this?"

Wesley opened the folder to reveal pictures and details of a building. "I've been looking around, and I found a property that might be perfect for your business."

I blinked in surprise. "A property? But how did you find this?"

Wesley shrugged, looking casual. "I have a few contacts in real estate. When I heard you were looking for a new space, I thought I'd see if I could help."

I studied the pictures of the building. It was spacious, with modern amenities, and in a prime location. "This looks amazing. But I don't have the funds to buy something like this." Wesley's smile remained unchanged. "Don't worry about that. I can help with the financing. We can set up a loan or discuss other options. I just want to see you succeed." I felt a wave of gratitude and disbelief. "Are you sure? This is a huge help."

Wesley nodded. "Absolutely. You've worked hard, and you deserve this opportunity. Plus, I think it's a great investment."

With Wesley's help, we quickly made arrangements. He connected me with a real estate agent and a financial advisor who could help with the loan process.

Within weeks, I had secured the building, and it was like a dream come true.

As I settled into the new space, I began to focus on the direction of my business. I decided to pivot towards the ladies' skincare and cosmetics industry.

It was an area I was passionate about, and I saw a gap in the market that I was excited to fill.

Wesley continued to be a great support. He would drop by occasionally, always bringing a small gift or a thoughtful gesture.

One day, he brought in a basket of high-quality skincare products.

"I thought you might like these," he said with a grin. "They're from a local supplier I've been working with."

I was touched. "This is so thoughtful. Thank you, Wesley. These products are fantastic."

He shrugged modestly. "Just doing my part to help. And I've heard good things about your new direction. It sounds like a promising venture."

With Wesley's encouragement and the new resources at my disposal, I dove into the skincare and cosmetics market.

I worked with a team to develop products, designed a marketing strategy, and started reaching out to potential clients and retailers.

One day, Wesley called me with some exciting news. "Sarah, I've set up a meeting with a major distributor. They're interested in carrying your products."

I could hardly believe it. "That's incredible! Thank you so much for making this happen."

Wesley's voice was warm. "It's all you, Sarah. You've got a great product, and people are starting to notice. Keep up the hard work."

As I prepared for the meeting, I couldn't help but reflect on how much Wesley had done for me.

His support, from helping with the property to arranging important meetings, had been invaluable.
