Why deceive me??

Chapter 8. A plan for a new person

Damon goes home with the curious eyes of Alan all over him. "Spill it." He demanded.

Alan gulped and swallowed. "I was just curious as to why you didn't do anything to Katie. You seemed so cold toward her." Alan asked, hoping for an answer.

"She's my bride to be and I cant be nice toward her. I want her scared of me. And besides, that's who I am. Can't change it for nothing." Damon said. "But isn't that the essence of it? Her not being scaredof you so you two can work things out, besides, you still haven't found your mate." Alan asked. Damon looked uninterested in what Alan was spatting out of his mouth, not until he mentioned about mate.

"As for my mate, I'll find her anytime I want to. Besides I don't give a damn about this contract marriage between me and Katie. She was already bethroated to me since we were kids. And it's also good for business." Damon said with a firm voice which Alan noted as a note of finality so he gave up asking any more questions.

Ronnie craddles her mother in he arms and smiled at her.

"Mum, the doctor said you should be ok. And he also said you should stop all hars work you do. So from now on, you're not allowed to do anything that requires too much energy. You hear me." She instructed like the mother here. "But how can we cope of don't work. We needed money, Ron." Bianca said.

Ronnie sighed. She knew it was gonna be hard for her fending for the both of them and at same time, paying for her mother's monthly drugs. The pay on the thrift store can't go a long way. She had to find a way out. But she still managed to give her mum an encouraging smile.

"Don't you worry your head about that, mum, your little baby girl is gonna earn us some cash that would go by." She said, hearing the doubt in her own voice.

"You sure you can do this on your own, I could also try some few things to earn us money, you know." Bianca offered.

Ronnie shook her head in disapproval. "No way ma'am, all you just have to do is stay strong and healthy for me while I do all the money earning. You're gonna take your drugs regularly, sleep healtilly and all that stuff. You hear me?" She demanded.

Bianca smiled am hugged Ronnie through gritted teeth. "I'm sorry of this is causing any discomfort to your life dear."

Ronnie shushed her by putting her thumb on her lips. "Don't say that mum, you've done enough for me already, now it's my turn to pay you back." She smiled.

"That reminds me Ron, you've never for once told me about a mate yet." Bianca inquired.

Ronnie rolled her eyes at her mum. "I thought we were talking about your health just now, how can the topic change so fast?" She asked in a joke.

They both laughed.

Mrs. Phillips rushes upstairs to check out why Katie screamed. She reaches up to her door and gently knocks on the door.

"Katie, dear, what's wrong? I'm comin in dear" she gentl said and pushed the door gently open.

Katie is sitting in the bed in a mess. She has her hair turned upside down and is looking at the floor. She notices he mum in her room and stands to meet her.

"Mum, Damon embarrassed me in front of a lowly waitress." She whinned like the spoilt child she was.

"He did?"

"I bet you he did. You needed to see the scowl on that wrench's face."

Mrs. Philips sighed and gently patted Katie on her head. "You just have to cope with him. Try to do the things he likes and stuffs like that." She said as if trying to assure her of something she wasn't sure if herself. "Mum, what if someone else marries him instead of me. I already got accepted for the modelling contract I applied for some months back."

"What are you saying? How can you suggest that, you want to call off the engagement or what?"

"No."

"Then what are you saying."

"I am saying that I found someone who is fit for the job."

Mrs. Philips looks shocked as Katie explained about Ronnie.

"Katie, dear, I think we need to have a seat. Let's sit down." Mrs Philips said and motioned for Katie to continue.

"And she really looks like someone who needs money. I'm thinking I could pay her so she could cover for me. You know, before I come back from the states." She added.

"And what will happen if Damon gets to find out?" Mrs. Philips asked.

"Mum, you need to see this girl. She's one of a kind. Take a look at me. My face, cheeks and all. She's the exact replica of me." Katie said.

"So you're trying to tell me that there's a wolf out there who looks just like you?" Mrs. Philips asked.

"Yes, that's what I'm saying." She replied.

"How do you know if she hasn't found a mate yet?" Asked Mrs. Philips again.

"Well, even if she's found her mate, it's just a short term contract and it won't hurt for her to make a few dollars off something that won't take long." Katie said, assuring her mother.

"So you think it's gonna work if we find her?" Mrs Philips asked.

"Mum, like I said, she looks like someone in need of cash. She can't refuse such a tempting offer especially when it involves some thousand dollars." Katie smirked and imagined the smile on Ronnie's face when she sees the tempting offer. "And how do we find her" Mrs. Philips asked again.

At that point, Katie kept mute.

"That's the only problem I have right now, I don't know where she live as she refused me dropping her home the last time we met."

Bianca is sitting on the hospital bed, still taking her drugs with Ronnie by her side smiling at her. When the doctor on charge of her came in. He smiled pleasantly at the duo.

"Good morning beautiful ladies, I hope you had a splendid night." He said and smiled toward Bianca. "I can see you're getting stronger."

"Yes doctor, I have been getting stronger by the day. All thanks to you, and of course, my caring daughter here." She said and Ronnie smiled.

"Don't mind her. She means to say she's fine." She said to the doctor. "Mum, no need for the long speech." Ronnie scolded.

"Then how am I suppose to show my appreciation?"

"You can just say thanks"

"That's not polite"

"Than what's polite, you making a speech?"

"Jeez, girl, you need to know I'm still in a hospital bed. And I'm your mother."

The doctor, Daniel, listened and watched as the duo bantered at each other in amusement. When he thought he'd seen enough, he cleared his throat and they were brought back to reality. "Sorry doc." Ronnie blushed and apologizes.

"It's ok, she's your mother afterall. Mother's are tend to be like that sometimes."

"Are you implying that I'm old?" Bianca countered.

Jason was taken aback. "Not that, I meant you guys seemed pretty close." He defended himself from the verbal attack from Bianca.

Ronnie giggled.

"So, I just came by to tell you that you could be discharged but you have to come back every week to get the drugs needed for your health not to deteriorate again." He said and started writing on his tab. Ronnie could still feel her face burning red like a tomato as she tries to hide the blush that was creeping in.

Jason finishes his writing and smiled. "I think I should let you rest now. Miss Ronnie, would you mind if I speak to you alone?" He asked.

Ronnie was startled and smiled.

Jason leaves them and Ronnie also started walking out but was stopped by her mother's intensive stare.

"What?" She asked.

"How long has it been since I've seen that look on your face." Bianca said.

"What look?" She asked.

"You like him." Bianca said and smiled at her daughter.

"I guess you might have seen wrong then, mum." She said and walked out.
