im couldn’t figure out how Timothy had seen right through him.
Tell me. Why do we Cooper men always seem to crash and burn when it comes to Minnie id Miranda?” Timothy asked.
im stayed silent.
Must run in the family, huh? Damn! What a load of crap,” Timothy said with a short, bitter ugh as he swirled his wine glass.
Right?” Sam gave a faint, self–deprecating smile.
Not hiding it anymore, huh?” Timothy asked.
am didn’t reply.
imothy continued, “As someone who’s been there, let me give you some advice. Walk way now before you get too attached. If you let yourself fall too deep, you’ll just get stuck, nd it’ll only hurt you in the end.”
I’ll pass on your advice. Not exactly a winning track record, is it?”
imothy fell silent this time.
hey didn’t get drunk, so they left the bar and went their separate ways.
You’re really not going home?” Sam asked.
No,” Timothy replied.
…Fine. When you get a chance, have your assistant pass a message to my mom. Don’t let
ings end so harshly. It would only look bad.”
imothy raised an eyebrow: “Bad for who?”
For me, for you, or the Cooper Group,” Sam replied.
Not happening.” Timothy turned and waved his cigarette dismissively. “I’m leaving now.”
am sighed. He had tried his best, and there was nothing more he could do.
firanda had no idea what was going on between the Cooper and Garrison families. She had

administration at Bedford College..
At the faculty office, Oliver said, “Another ‘Nature‘ sub–journal? Didn’t Miranda’s team publish one last semester? What’s new about this?”
“It’s a different one. They’ve got another research paper being published,” the associate dean replied.
“…What do you mean?” Oliver, who had been leisurely drinking tea, suddenly sat up straight.
The associate dean took a deep breath. “I mean, Miranda’s team just published another research paper in ‘Nature.‘ It’s a sub–journal, but the quality and speed of their output rival those of some of the country’s top research teams.”
He was impressed that they were just a team of three–well, four if he counted Joli.
Oliver spilled his hot tea all over himself and winced from the burn. Clinging to a shred of hope, he asked, “Which sub–journal?”
After all, some ‘Nature‘ sub–journals were far more prestigious than others.
The associate dean answered, “Nature Biotechnology.”
The cup slipped from Oliver’s hand, and his last bit of hope was crushed.
In the chancellor’s office, Hendrix sat in silence for three minutes before raising his head. He muttered absent–mindedly, “Another research paper in ‘Nature Biotechnology.”
Beckett was silent as well. After a long pause, he finally said, “Well, they major in bioinformatics. They’ve got the right expertise, so it’s no wonder they’re able to get their research paper published…”
He even hesitated and was unsure how to finish his sentence. There were so many students in the country majoring in bioinformatics, but none of their research papers were being published. Still, his point wasn’t entirely without merit.
Nature Biotechnology mainly focused on computational biology, especially algorithms and modeling. And that was exactly the area where Miranda’s team excelled.
At that moment, something clicked in Hendrix’s mind.
