Chapter 1562
He immediately set down what he was carrying and came over to comfort her “What happened? Why are you so upset?” he asked with concern.
Maxwell had arrived with Aziel.
They had arrived together at the hospital’s entrance.
They were also business partners, which had strengthened their bond.
“Sonia…” Sarah managed to say through her sobs.
Aziel tried to calm her while glancing back at the closed door of the operating room.
“Don’t worry; she’ll be okay,” he reassured Sarah.
Maxwell felt a sense of unease.
“I thought she was past the critical phase.
Why is she having surgery again?”
Sarah appeared more composed as she dabbed her tears and said, “Maybe my words startled her.
”
Maxwell, though sympathetic, remained calm.
“That seems unlikely.
Sonia is unconscious; she shouldn’t be able to perceive anything from the outside.
It’s not your fault.
”
This slightly soothed Sarah, making her feel less burdened.
“If mere words could shock someone out of unconsciousness, we wouldn’t have cases of comas,” Maxwell added, trying to provide some perspective.
This further reassured Sarah, and she sniffled, saying, “But I saw her heart monitor.
Her ECG almost became a flat line.
”
Maxwell experienced a pang of worry at her words but kept quiet, staring at the closed door.
Aziel kept consoling Sarah, gently patting her back.
“Sonia’s tough as nails; she won’t let anything break her spirit easily.
There could be other reasons for this.
The doctors are taking care of this, doing their best.
Just try not to stress too much.
”
Sarah nodded.
Maxwell didn’t believe Sarah’s words were the cause, but he couldn’t help being curious.
“She’s
never been one to get startled easily.
What exactly did you say that you think rattled her so?” he asked.
Aziel was curious, too, but he refrained from pressing the matter, seeing how upset Sarah was.
Sarah felt a bit awkward, not knowing how to explain the matter about Sonia’s ‘idol’.
But under their curious gazes, she told them about what she had said to Sonia.
After listening to her, Maxwell was at a loss for words, and Aziel could only sigh and rub his forehead.
Given Sonia’s nature, it was tough to determine if the shock had anything to do with what Sarah had said.
The operating room’s lights quickly dimmed as the doctor emerged, looking serious.
Sarah’s heart sank when she saw the doctor’s expression.
She clung to Aziel’s hand tightly, her tears flowing uncontrollably.
“Doctor, is she…”
She tried to ask, but her voice faltered.
Aziel comforted her with a gentle touch on her shoulder.
Maxwell stepped forward, urgently inquiring, “Doctor, how is she? What’s the current situation?”
The doctor removed his mask, offering a small smile.
“Good news, she’s awake!”
