Chapter 1390
Adrian was struggling to find the right words, but Jennifer just looked on with an icy stare, unmoved by his explanations.
This made Adrian even more uneasy.
“You think someone staged this photo?” Jennifer asked with a hint of sarcasm.
Adrian nodded.
“I really don’t know her.
Someone must have arranged this.
Just trust me this time.
I didn’t do it.
”
Clearly, Jennifer wasn’t convinced.
“Adrian, do you actually realize how you come across? You haven’t changed a bit.
You’re still the player you once were!”
Adrian began.
“Stop! I don’t want to hear it anymore.
” Jennifer turned away.
She was tired of the disappointments and didn’t want to endure them anymore.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Jennifer stared out at the vast ocean.
“In a few days, my assistant will send you the divorce papers.
I’ve already signed them.
You just need to sign them when they arrive.
That’s the end of it for us.
”
As she began to walk away, tears welled up in Adrian’s eyes.
He moved quickly to her, grabbing her wrist, his voice cracking.
“I won’t sign them.
It’s all a big misunderstanding.
Just give me some time to show you, Jennifer.
You can’t end everything over a misunderstanding.
I don’t accept it!”
Jennifer now found his pleas meaningless.
She had once believed she could change him.
But she was wrong.
“You don’t need to say anything else.
It’s not your choice whether to sign the divorce papers or not.
If you refuse, I’ll see you in court,” Jennifer said firmly, shaking off Adrian’s hand.
However, Adrian unexpectedly lost his balance and stumbled back onto the rocks.
Just then, a massive wave surged over him, sweeping him into the sea.
“Adrian!” Jennifer cried out in horror, rushing to help him.
Despite her frantic attempts, she couldn’t reach Adrian as the waves pulled him further away, her shouts piercing the air.
“Help! Someone’s fallen into the sea! Help!”
Luckily, Jennifer was close to the crew’s campsite.
Her shout quickly got everyone’s attention.
Wilbert was the first to dash toward the sound, with Ariana and Holden close behind.
They arrived at the shore to see Jennifer dripping wet and staring blankly as she sat on the beach.
“Are you okay?” Ariana rushed to help Jennifer to her feet.
When she turned around, she saw Holden diving into the sea to save Adrian.
Adrian had only planned to feign distress to convince Jennifer to stay, but the situation quickly spiraled out of his control.
Despite being an accomplished swimmer who had won several competitions, Adrian found himself struggling to stay afloat.
The tide was high, and the waves were fierce that night, making it hard for him to come up for air after a wave.
The incident shocked everyone, leaving Jennifer terrified.
Thankfully, Holden acted swiftly and managed to rescue Adrian from the choppy waters.
Upon seeing Adrian safe, Jennifer felt her legs give way, and she leaned on Ariana for support.
