Chapter 158
Chapter 158:
? ? ? ? ?
Alicia felt her heart stop for a fraction of a second.
She wanted to move, to get away, but her body refused to listen, frozen in place as if some invisible force held her captive.
Caden's face was mere inches from hers, his breath hot against her skin and his chiseled features so perfect they seemed almost unreal. The mischievous glint in her deep eyes washed over her like an unstoppable tide, leaving her breathless.
Her breathing became shallow, each inhalation slow and deliberate as her chest rose and fell against his. She wasn't sure whose heart was pounding, his or hers.
Alice parted her lips, her voice barely a whisper. “Is there anyone who doesn't like you?”
The words seemed to catch Caden off guard.
Only then did she notice his ears, which were flushed bright red. With a mocking arch of her brow, she asked, “So, do you admit it?”
Trying to suppress the whirlwind of emotions swirling inside her, she replied with a defiant smile, “Hard not to, considering your… impressive skills in bed.”
For a brief second, Caden seemed at a loss for what to say.
His lips curved into a bemused smile. “Is that all you like about me?”
Her eyelashes fluttered as she tried to regain her composure, her voice regaining its edge. “What else is there to like? Your bad temper, or that sharp tongue of yours?”
Caden scoffed, “Who said my skills couldn't compare to a teenager’s?”
Alice gave him a serious look. “You must have worked really hard to keep up with me. Well done. “I think I like you even more now.”
Annoyed by her brazen comment, Caden slapped her on the butt.
The sound was sharp, echoing in the silent room, and he felt the soft give of her skin beneath his palm.
Feeling a little remorseful, she rubbed the spot she had just hit, although it was anything but comforting. Alice flinched and arched her back to avoid the jab. “See? You can't stand a little teasing. “How embarrassing.”
He had raised his voice, inadvertently drawing the pup's attention.
The puppy shifted on his short legs, his tail wagging impatiently.
Alicia took the opportunity to playfully shout, “Cade, help!”
Caden lowered his voice, his tone dangerous. “Cade?” I snapped.
Without warning, he quickly flipped her over onto her knees and pulled down her baggy lounge pants until the soft curve of her buttocks were exposed.
With a satisfied smile, she gave him another slap, this time even louder.
Alice screamed, “Caden, you moron! That hurts!”
At his feet, the tiny pup, Cade, grew up and lunged, his tiny teeth sinking into the hem of Caden's pants.
Despite Cade's "ferocious" attack, Caden barely flinched, never taking his eyes off Alicia's figure. Her voice, deep and mocking, felt a chill down his spine. "When did you name the little bastard?"
Alicia, her cheeks flushed from both irritation and the effort of blocking her wandering hand, covered her behind defensively. “I named him a long time ago. “He’s always been Cade to me.”
Caden's busy schedule usually kept him distant, leaving early in the morning and returning late at night, barely catching a glimpse of the lively pup.
Unbeknownst to him, Alice had been happily calling the dog “Cade” behind his back.
“Change Lucky’s name,” Caden demanded, the mirth in his tone fading into something darker. “Or I’ll give you a real reason to cry today.”
Alicia's eyes, watery with pain, blinked defiantly. "No. “His name is Cade!”
Caden paused, his hand resting firmly on her tender skin, the warmth of her body seeing into his palm.
He could feel the heat radiating off of her, a clear indication of how much his earlier blow had hurt.
Sighing, he changed tactics. “You're strong enough to withstand a spanking, right? If not, that's fine. “I’ll punish that troublemaker instead.”
As expected, Alice's reaction was immediate.
She turned around, eyes shining with unshed tears, glaring at him. “Why didn't you say so before?! Cade can take a beating better than I can!”
For a moment, Caden was speechless.
Before he could react, Alice broke free from his grip, quickly pulling up her pants with a huff.
Then she grabbed Cade and ran out of the room, leaving him alone.
He didn't bother to chase after her. Instead, he glanced at his watch, turned off his laptop, and headed into the living room.
As he rubbed his hands together, he enjoyed the scent of Alicia's floral body lotion on his palms. “What's for dinner?”
From across the room, Alicia poured milk into Cade's bowl with a satisfied smile, her tone mischievous as she replied, "Celery with meat."
Caden fell silent, wondering if she was pulling his leg. Unfortunately, she wasn't joking.
Sure enough, when he sat down at the table, three dishes greeted him.
One was a celery salad, the second a beef salad, and the third, the dreaded celery with beef, her least favorite dish.
He stared at his fork for an eternity, unable to take the first bite.
Alice's mocking voice cuts through the silence. "You don't like it? Don't worry. I can always make a soup with celery and beef, of course."
Caden pressed his lips into a thin line, eyes narrowing slightly.
“I’ll just have some bread,” he said, his voice flat, as if all food had lost its appeal.
As he turned to leave, his gaze fell on the soft cushion on Alice's chair.
“Does it hurt that much? “I didn’t even try very hard.” Alice's expression hardened, but she didn't say anything, her hands busy clearing the plates from the table. She didn't even bother to look at him.
“Let the maid do it,” Caden added lazily.
"Eat here."
"So that?"
“My tie.” He tilted his chin toward the couch. “Bring it here and tie it for me.”
Alicia glared at him, a flash of annoyance in her eyes. “You get her,” she snapped, clearly fed up.
Unfazed, Caden shifted his attention to the small pup resting nearby. “Lucky, go get my tie.”
Alicia frowned, frustrated. “I told you, his name is Cade!”
Obviously, the insufferable man was trying to irritate her on purpose.
Bracing a hand against the furniture, Caden watched her, his expression amused. “Are you crazy?” His voice was a mocking purr. “Why aren't you wearing your tie? Maybe you can strangle me with it.”
His jaw tightened and he let out a frustrated sigh through his nose.
He thought to himself, "The sooner this is over, the sooner I'll be rid of him."
With a sigh of resignation, she picked up the tie and stood in front of him, her fingers working carefully to knot the fabric around his neck.
The tie was in place in the blink of an eye.
Before she could back away, however, Caden's hand wandered over, caressing the curve of her ass. His tone softened, no longer playful. “Does it really hurt that much?”
Alice stiffened, her heart giving a little lust at the sudden change in her mood. The unexpected tenderness caught her off guard.
“I just… I mean, I'm fine,” she stammered, clearing her throat as she pulled her hand away from him. “As long as you don't touch it, it doesn't hurt.” But Caden refused to pull away.
In any case, his hand stayed, gently rubbing her bottom as if to comfort her.
Alice bit her lip, shifting her weight closer to him. “I’m fine now,” she added quietly, hoping he’d get the hint.
His eyes darkened and locked onto hers with a new intensity. Without warning, his hand slipped beneath her clothes, warm fingertips brushing against her skin.
“I’ll be busy this afternoon,” he murmured in a deep, almost intimate voice. “I might be back late tonight, so you'd better not fall asleep. “Wait for me.”
