The Sweet Pursuit by Golden Autumn

Chapter 7

Enoah came back to their table right at this moment. She sat beside Suzy and said with a hearty smile, "I bumped into a high school classmate and had a short chat with her."

Then, the waiter came over with their entree. The three of them started to eat. Occasionally, Enoah would start a conversation and talk about school with Suzy.

Once they were done eating and went out, they happened to bump into Olive and her group. Olive was here treating her clients to a meal. The two groups of people met at the door. Olive raised her eyebrow at Suzy while the two pretended not to know each other. They merely passed by.

There were a couple of big shots who recognized George and greeted him respectfully.

The rain finally stopped, and the road was no longer congested. Jessie drove the car over, and the three got into the car. "Where are you headed, Suzy?" Enoah, who was sitting in the passenger seat in front, turned around and asked.

"If you'll be passing by the university, you can just drop me off at River U's gate," said Suzy.

"We're going there, so there's no problem at all. My uncle's quite flexible." Enoah smiled at her meaningfully.

Suzy chuckled dryly. She thought, 'If I hadn't heard how harsh he can be with his words, I would've blindly believed her.'

It was still a distance away from the school, so she continued chatting with Enoah. Meanwhile, George sat on the side and looked down at the document, completely taciturn. Nonetheless, his aura was simply too imposing and hard to ignore. Suzy and George were husband and wife. Now that they were in the same car together, Suzy could feel subtle but weird emotions surging within her.

They stopped at the gate of River University, and Suzy said goodbye to Enoah before getting out of the car. "Thank you, Enoah."

"You're welcome. Just buy me a drink another day." Enoah's eyes were incredibly charming and cute. They seemed keen as well.

Suzy responded to her with a smile. While holding her umbrella and bag, she finally said, "Thank you, Mr. Laine."

George did not raise his head and merely responded, "Mm."

Suzy turned around and got out of the car, waving goodbye to Enoah.

When their car pulled back into the traffic, Suzy went to the bus stop to wait for a bus.

Inside the car, Enoah eventually looked away and suddenly remembered something. She turned around and said, "Uncle, I'd like Suzy to be Ean's tutor."

Her parents were often away from home. They even went to Landon to hold an economic seminar a few days ago. Plus, this time around, they brought her grandparents along with them. As soon as they left, Ean Laine's tutor found an excuse to resign. Now, the task of tutoring Ean fell onto Enoah instead. She had to quickly look for someone else to share this burden with her.

George frowned slightly and raised his head. "Why not look for a professional tutor? What's the point of hiring a student?"

Enoah scoffed. "A professional can't control Ean! Besides, Suzy has had it rough. She earns money for her tuition fees from being a tutor. I want to help her out."

George had zero trust in a student who had yet to graduate. "You can simply hand her some money, then!"

"Everyone has their own dignity to uphold, okay?" Enoah laughed at his idea. "Just agree to it, Uncle. It's not a big deal to let her give it a shot. If Ean can't accept her, she'll voluntarily quit."

George sneered at the thought. Well, if she could manage Ean, she would indeed be considered quite capable. "Fine. Let her have a go at it, then!"

Enoah nodded excitedly. "I'll give her a call later!"

Suzy took the bus and got off at Secloud Road. She went to the dessert shop where she parked her electric scooter and chatted with the shopkeeper, Nelly Qualls, for a while. She only returned to the villa when it was getting dark. As soon as she walked through the door, Parsi rushed over and acted pamperedly with Suzy.

Parsi was a Samoyed dog belonging to George. When Suzy first came to the villa, Parsi was just three months old. She worked hard to raise Parsi until now when he was three years old. She had always felt like she was raising a son for someone else.

Inside the villa, there was also the maid, Ms. Wolly, who took care of Suzy, and the old butler, Uncle Lionel. These three people and Parsi had lived together for nearly three years. They were extremely close, just like family members. After cuddling Parsi for a while, she went upstairs to take a shower. Right after taking a shower, she received a call from Enoah.

On the phone, Enoah said something about Suzy coming over to tutor her brother.

Did Enoah ask her to go over to the Laine family's manor to be a tutor?

Suzy thought about it and quickly shook her head to refuse.

"I'm not a professional tutor. I'm afraid of wasting Ean's time. You should hire someone from a tutoring company."

"We've hired countless professionals, but Ean despises all of them! Help me out here, Suzy. My family is not at home, and my uncle is always busy. Just think of it as you're lending me a hand, hmm?" Enoah chuckled softly and acted somewhat coy.

After being pestered by Enoah for a while, Suzy had no choice but to agree to give it a try.

"Come over tomorrow since it's a Sunday. I'll wait for you at home. See ya!" After Enoah was done talking, she was afraid that Suzy would continue to refuse and hurriedly hung up.

Suzy looked at the phone and blinked helplessly. What on earth just happened?

Soon enough, she received a text message. Enoah asked her: [Where's your house, Suzy? I'll ask the driver to pick you up tomorrow morning.]

Suzy replied: [I'll wait by River U's gate at nine in the morning.]

[Then it's settled!]

After placing her phone down, Suzy was absent-minded for a moment. Parsi jumped onto the sofa and bit her pajamas.

Suzy lay on Parsi's body and chuckled while saying, "I'm going to see your owner tomorrow. Do you have anything to say to him?"

Parsi looked up at her with a blank look.

Suzy raised her hand and patted his big head, saying mockingly, "The landlord's silly son!"

...

In the evening, Suzy chatted with Olive on the phone. Hearing that Suzy was going over to the Laine family's house to tutor George's nephew, Olive was too shocked to speak for quite some time. Finally, Olive said to her excitedly, "Sweetie, the opportunity is here. Now, you may openly enter his room and attack him! Pounce on him and sleep with him before the agreement is over. Then, you can throw that divorce certificate on his face! How awesome would that be?!" Suzy was silent for two seconds before she hung up the phone decisively.

She was afraid that she would be brainwashed by Olive if she were to listen to her further.

Nonetheless, Suzy still had to think about if she were to see George often in the Laine family's residence in the future. What kind of attitude should she put on to face him?

...

The next day, Suzy arrived at River University's gate at 8:50 a.m. After waiting for five minutes, a Mercedes-Benz stopped in front of her. The driver got down from the car and asked politely, "Are you Ms. Shirley?" Suzy nodded. "Yes!"

The driver became friendlier and said, "Ms. Enoah has asked me to pick you up."

Suzy thanked him and opened the car door.

The Laine family's manor was at South City. The outer fence was a black hollow iron fence that was full of vines. They drove along the fence full of vines for ten minutes before reaching the main door. After going through the black iron gate, one could see the detached villa and the garden.

The servant at the door nodded at her, opened the door, and invited her in.

Suzy changed her shoes before walking in. Before she had a chance to look at the interior of the villa, she caught a glimpse of a dark figure rushing toward her.

Suzy's face changed drastically in an instant. She quickly ran inside. Seeing someone coming down the stairs, she barely had a second to think before leaping over and hugging the man. She quickly jumped up as her arms wrapped around the man's neck tightly.

Suzy was afraid of all the dogs in this world except for Parsi!

"David!" The man's voice was low and filled with a sense of warning.

The dog that was dashing over suddenly stopped at George's feet. It raised its head curiously and looked at Suzy.

George turned to look at the woman hanging onto him, and his handsome face darkened. "If you don't come down, I'll sue you for harassment!"

Suzy blinked and looked at the man's tense face. Then, her eyes fell on a scar behind the man's ear. He must have gotten it many years ago as it was rather light, almost invisible. However, when such a scar appeared on a man who lived like a prince, it was still too much for the eyes to bear.

George frowned. He shook his hand to throw Suzy down.

Suzy was a step faster as she tightened her hands around his shoulders. She whispered, "Make him go away first!"
