The Other Part of Me

Chapter 45

Eva/Cassie

She found Elsbeth dirty and disheveled standing next to the lake. She looked emaciated with sunken eyes. Eva could smell old, rotting fish in the vicinity.

Eva growled, the sound causing Elsbeth to turn. In response, Elsbeth released a wicked laugh looking back towards the lake. "Half-breed, fancy seeing you in my kingdom." She turned back to Eva with a menacing stare, "Funny though- you are the last wolf I'd want to see here."

Eva slowly walked towards Elsbeth, baring her teeth the whole time.

Elsbeth rolled her eyes. "You don't want to do this, half-breed. I've been fighting my whole life," she grabbed a rock from the ground and threw it towards Eva, narrowly missing her face. "Get away from me."

"You killed everyone that would have loved me," Eva communicated. "You will suffer like I have suffered."

She laughed again. "You know what my biggest regret is?" She removed the coat she was wearing. "That I didn't sink my teeth into your neck in the back of your mom's car." She pulled the dress she wore off as well. "Or any of the years I saw you walking to school. I should have known you'd turn up here ruining my life again like that filthy blood you carry in your veins always has done."

Amaya emerged. "Your tainted bloodline ends here," she growled before jumping towards Eva.

Eva side-stepped Amaya, snapping her teeth at Amaya's hind legs and failing to land a bite.

The two she-wolves circled each other again, Eva was able to see the skill in Amaya's moves but Eva had rage burning through her veins. "What did Diana ever do to you?" Eva asked.

Amaya snorted. "That bitch needed to learn a lesson for thinking she would be worthy of forming a family with a descendant of gods. She was nothing, much like that pup you were going to have. I was disappointed when I found out all the Bloodstone pups made it out of the fire I started," she managed to get her wolf-features to form an evil smile, "but learning the only casualty was your pup more than made up for my disappointment." She snapped her jaws towards Eva's neck and missed. "I hope it hurt you as much as it hurt Braden."

Eva ran straight to Amaya, sliding her body under Amaya's belly, and standing up, knocking her off balance. While Amaya tried to right herself up, Eva bit into Amaya's neck, sinking her teeth into her jugular vein, making sure to have a nice, strong grip before tearing it wide open. Her fangs bit her again with a vicious growl, containing a counterattack. Eva's mouth filled with the taste of warm, liquid iron. Blood spurting over her like water from a hose.

Amaya breathed her last breath as Elsbeth's form took over.

Weary but satisfied, Eva returned into Cassie's mind, letting her human-half deal with the aftermath.

Cassie remained still as she hovered over Elsbeth, looking down at her human form, bleeding profusely but too shocked to move. Elsbeth's breath began getting more and more shallow until there was no more of it. Her head fell to the side, her emerald green eyes remained opened and aimless.

Cassie slowly began to look around the scene. Both of their bodies were covered in blood; probably the same blood she tasted. She tried wiping away at her mouth, only to smear more blood on her face since it was all over her hands as well. She sat back on her haunches, using any abled part of her body to wipe away at the blood on her tastebuds.

When she saw the torn open flap on Elsbeth's neck, Cassie tried closing it, "Oh, Elsbeth," she pressed down on it, hoping it would seal with the wolf-gene magic. "Wake up," she lightly caressed Elsbeth's cheek. "Come on, please," Cassie started to cry. There was no coming back from taking a life-- she couldn't live with that. "Elsbeth, wake up, please wake up, wake up."

A tan-colored wolf slowly approached them. With her eyes clouded by tears, she recognized Christos. Talon quickly assumed his human body and knelt close to the women with a horrified look on his face. "Awww, Cassie," he whispered. She began sobbing, feeling a shower of guilt overcome her with the realization that Elsbeth was dead.

She had become a killer.
