Chapter 125
Sena never really thought much of Dahlia; to her, Dahlia and Evelyn were pretty much the same people. Girls like them had no real background and were straight out of the slums. How could they ever be good enough for Charles?
But Dahlia turned out to be nothing like that troublemaker, Evelyn. At first, Sena treated Dahlia pretty poorly, but Dahlia was willing to stand up for Sena in a very dangerous moment. Thanks to Charles' quick save, that knife didn't touch Dahlia, but it could have been fatal.
If Dahlia hadn't pushed Sena away, it would have pierced Sena's heart.
Dahlia had saved Sena's life, but she never really used that as her leverage. She didn't expect anything in return. Even more, whenever Charles was about to punish her, Dahlia would always step in and defend her. With a comforting pat on the back, Dahlia gently urged, "Sena, be good, let's get in the car first."
Once the car door shut, Sena couldn't hold it together anymore and started sobbing uncontrollably. Through her tears, she recounted everything that had happened to Dahlia. Dahlia listened with an empathetic expression. As Sena cried, Dahlia's eyes welled up, too, showcasing the deep bond of sisterhood.
After Sena had let it all out, Dahlia handed her a wet wipe to dry her tears. "Dahlia, was I wrong?" Sena asked, feeling a pang of regret after her outburst.
"If I hadn't gotten Michael to drug Evelyn..." Sena wondered if things might have turned out differently.
"Sena, that's nonsense. How could this be your fault?" Dahlia interrupted, looking even more upset than Sena with red-rimmed eyes. She gently touched Sena's swollen cheeks, choking up. "You've loved Mr. Brooks for years and always wanted to marry him. You're meant to be, right?"
Sena had just gone through a major blow, and her mind was a mess. Her gut reaction, after such a terrifying experience, was to regret pushing Michael into drugging Evelyn, which had led to this mess. But after hearing Dahlia's words, it all suddenly seemed clear. What had she done wrong?
Brooks should have been hers if not
for Evelyn's flirty ways. Evelyn used to be with Charles, and now she shamelessly tried to steal Brooks away. How could she not have plotted against Evelyn? Evelyn was acting so low, so she deserved to be messed around by Brooks. But why did she run away from him? If Evelyn hadn't, none of this would have happened, and she would've gone through the suffering Sena went through! It was all that bitch Evelyn's fault!
"Evelyn!" Sena's eyes flared with a wild hatred.
Dahlia, seeing the hatred in Sena's eyes, softly soothed her, "Sena, come over to my place, take a
shower, and change your clothes et
Don't worry. Michael was drugged and does
doesn't know it was you. As long as we keep quiet, no one will find out, and you'll still the perfect
match for Brooks."
"Can I really still marry Brooks?" Sena asked, her eyes red and full of hope as she watched Dahlia.
"Of course, who else could be more suited for him than you?"
Those words hit Sena right where it mattered, and she nodded fiercely. No one else in this world but her could ever be good enough for Brooks.
...
Evelyn hadn't been out for long; the night's events had kept her on edge. Not long after Charles left the room, she slowly came to, openingcher eyes to a sea of white.
