The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles)

Chapter 724

"But she didn't volunteer to get sick. I had no choice myself all those years ago. Besides, Janet is perfectly fine now, and she's not like her mother. I've cared for her for so many years, and have you ever seen her harm anyone?" Milo's face was pale, and he looked like it

was a secret of his that had been revealed. "Besides, you should know that Janet is a kind girl who never means anyone harm."

"Oh?" Charles raised an eyebrow, seemingly still unconvinced. "Either way, she's still not someone I'd consider. If she's a younger sister of mine, I'd take good care of her and ensure she never has to worry about her basic needs being met. However, if she harbors any ulterior motive, the Hoffman family would never approve of it, even if I didn't express any opinion. You thought things to be simpler than they are," Charles said as he got to his feet, directing his gaze downward to meet Milo's eyes. "Treat this as a welcome gift from me to you, Uncle. If we ever get the chance to meet again, I'll make sure to give you another grand present."

Charles fiddled with the cufflinks on his suit. Ronald immediately hurried over when he noticed so he could take Charles' coat off the coat stand and hand it to him.

Charles took the coat and draped it over his arm, a radiant expression on his face as he gazed at Milo. "I've got other matters to attend to today and won't be able to spend more time with you, Uncle." Then, he turned to Ronald. "Get a tour guide to take Mr. Baker around the city. After all, Brookville is very different from Capiton, and he might end up bumping into an unsavory crowd given that he's not well-versed with the layout of the land!"

"Yes, Mr. Hoffman! I'll get to it immediately!"

When Ronald saw that Charles was gone, he turned and smiled at Milo. "Mr. Hoffman has instructed that you can let me know where you feel like visiting, and I'll see to it that you are accompanied to that place, Mr. Baker."

Milo was so angry now that his features had become all twisted. He gripped his teacup tightly, a look of fury on his face. When he directed his gaze upward to glare at Ronald, the look in his eyes made it seem like he was practically about to eat him alive. Ronald raised an eyebrow, the corner of his lips curving upward slightly. "Take your time, Mr. Baker. I'll have someone sent over immediately!"

Ronald immediately caught up to Charles. "Mr. Baker doesn't seem very happy, Mr. Hoffman!" He seemed far more than just unhappy-he looked like he was about to murder someone.

Charles frowned slightly, a sharp look glinting in his eyes as he met Ronald's gaze. "Take a look at the Baker family. Have they been discussing sales with the Sander family of Harborpoint recently?"

"Yes, sir," Ronald said as he retrieved a tablet and pulled up the information. "The Baker family has been experiencing turmoil in the stock market recently. I think they're having troubles within the company itself."

"Let's help them out, then. A

government must always be stable before the rest of the country can

function well. If things within theme

company are in chaos, he won't have any time on his hands to think about anything unrealistic."

"Yes, sir! I'll get to it immediately!"

As Ronald spoke, he could feel a surge of energy washing over him, and the temperature of his blood felt like it was rising as well.

Since Mr. Hoffman and Noelle had gotten together, he had done his

best to rein in his cold-bloodedness

and vicious nature. Ronald had thought he would never see Charles in that state again. He never

expected Milo Baker to voluntarily turn up at their doorstep.

"Three days. I'll give you three days to pull down Baker Group's stock price. What position does Milo Baker's son hold in the company now?"

"He is the general manager of their

project department. However, it seems that Milo does not

particularly care about Jace Baker despite the boy being his son," Ronaldsaid as he pulled up information on Jace on his tablet. "Jace is actually quite competent, but it seems that Milo is hindering his progress."

Charles glanced sideways to look at Jace's profile, and he narrowed his eyes. "He owns 50% of the shares in Baker Group?"
