The Brother of My Boyfriend: A Love for Two

Chapter 16

Jason and Mandy go to the sunny island for a peaceful beachside picnic. They laughed together, sharing stories and flavors. As they played, time passed imperceptibly. When they realized it, the tide had already risen, leaving them stranded. Mandy's phone remained silent, despair beginning to take over her. Trying to calm her, Jason called her to start exploring the island together in search of an exit or some sign of help. The landscape, now flooded, seemed unrecognizable. With every step, concern grew, but they supported each other, determined to find a solution. The sun began to set, painting the sky with warm colors, while they persisted in searching for an exit. Jason held Mandy's hand, trying to calm her.

"It's going to be okay, Mandy. We will find a way out of here, I promise," Jason said with a calm voice, trying to convey confidence.

Mandy looked into his eyes, seeking reassurance. "I'm scared, Jason. I don't know what to do."

He smiled gently. "I know it's scary, but we're in this together. Let's think clearly and find a solution. Maybe there's a higher place where we can signal for help."

Mandy nodded, feeling a little more confident with Jason's words. "You're right. Let's keep looking."

As nightfall enveloped the island, Jason and Mandy continued their search for an exit, but without success. The sound of the turbulent sea and thunder echoing on the horizon made the atmosphere even more unsettling. When hope seemed to fade, they came across an abandoned house, standing solitary on the coast.

Looking at each other with a mix of relief and uncertainty, they entered cautiously. The structure was weathered by time and nature, but it offered shelter. With the sea as its constant roar, they nestled in the dark and damp interior, seeking comfort and safety.

Jason lit a candle, illuminating the room with a faint light. "It may not be perfect, but at least we have a place to spend the night. We'll be okay, Mandy," he said, trying to keep up the spirits.

Mandy nodded, looking around. "You're right, Jason. At least we're out of the cold and rain out there. Tomorrow, we'll keep looking for a way out."

"Don't worry, this storm will pass, and in the morning, we'll manage to get out of here," he tries to reassure her.

"I hope my parents won't freak out. Despite everything, the outing was really good, this place is amazing."

"Yes, it is. I used to come here a lot to escape my problems, but I've never been stuck here, especially not with a beautiful woman like you," he says, embarrassed.

"Beautiful, me?" she laughs hearing him speak.

"Yes, you're beautiful. I know my brother must tell you that all the time."

"He does, yes, but with our busy lives, it seems like he's trying to make up for lost time."

"You two are so perfect together that I didn't imagine you had any problems."

"Your brother is an amazing man, a knight, but he's too focused on work. He can't find the balance. I know he wants to achieve his dreams and goals, and I'm all for it, but he already owns a company, he has financial stability, so I think there are more important things," she confides.

"Maybe it's because of the expectations my parents put on him. When my father died, he wanted to take charge of the house. I'm not complaining because he was a great support for me and my mother, but he became too focused on filling the void left by Dad, and you already know my mother, Mrs. Morgana, is not easy. She loved showing off to her friends, bragging about how her eldest son was always the best."

"It must have been tough losing him. Were you close?"

"We were, even though he was a bit tough mentally, but he was my best friend. He gave me some tough love, but he was always there for everything I needed," she replies. "How did he pass away? If you don't want to answer, that's okay."

"No, it's okay. I thought you knew. My father had a heart attack, even though he wasn't that old, he didn't make it."

"I didn't know. Dylan doesn't like to touch on that subject. He just says that your father passed away. I'm sorry. I couldn't imagine losing my father. We're very close, even more than with my mother. She's a good mother, but she puts a lot of pressure on me, and my father, he supports me in everything and lets me make my own decisions."

"I noticed that your mother is not far behind mine. She asked me many questions, probably to see if I'm as good as Dylan."

"It wasn't because of that. It was because I had a dream about you, and I ended up saying your name, and she overheard and got suspicious."

"And what do I owe the honor of you dreaming about me?" he asks, curious.

"The night we met, I dreamt about that day," she says, embarrassed.

"To be honest with you, I can't forget that night."

"Why?"

"Because I keep thinking about how it would have ended if you hadn't noticed that I wasn't Dylan, and because you're a different woman, and I know my brother is lucky to have you, the only person I was happy with won't come back anymore." "You loved her a lot, didn't you?"

"Everyone thought it was just a teenage crush, but it was more than that. I loved Emma very much. We got along so well. She was my first love, the first woman I discovered things with, and when she got sick, I fell apart because such a strong woman going through all that, I saw her suffer and couldn't do anything. Her vitality, strength, and joy fading away, but even so, I had to be strong and tell her that everything would be okay, even though I knew it wouldn't," he cries, remembering.

Mandy raises her hands to Jason's face and starts to caress it. Jason looks into her eyes, surprised by her gesture, and ends up putting his hands on the back of her neck, pressing his face against hers, and kisses her. Mandy tries to pull away and says, "We can't do this to Dylan," Jason realizes what he just did and says, "I'm so sorry, I don't know where my head was." He moves away from her and goes outside to walk around the island.

Mandy watches from the window of the house and sees Jason walking around, kicking everything he sees in front of him. She feels sorry for him since a storm is raging, so she decides to go after him to convince him to come back inside. She opens the door and walks to where he is, the heavy rain pouring down on her along the way, leaving her completely soaked. Jason sees her and shouts, "Go back inside, you'll get sick." She replies, "I can't leave you out here like this, look at how it's raining," he insists and says, "You'd better go in, can't you see that if I stay near you, we'll end up doing something we'll regret?"

At that moment, something propels Mandy, something stronger than her. She keeps going towards Jason until she stops in front of him and kisses him.
