Summer kills

Chapter Circle 1.7

As dawn kissed the sky, casting a golden hue over the calm ocean, the friends woke up to find their campsite bustling with activity. Jake had yet another surprise for them - he had arranged for an early morning surfing lesson. The excitement was palpable as they wolfed down their breakfast of tropical fruits and pancakes smeared in coconut syrup, fresh from the open fire.

They were introduced to their surfing instructor, Lilo, a vivacious woman with sun-kissed skin and a radiant smile. She carried the spirit of Aloha in her heart and on her surfboard. After some brief instructions, they took to the water, their boards gliding on the surface as they paddled into the azure abyss.

Their initial attempts at standing on their boards ended disastrously. They fell into the water, tumbling over and over in laughter and playful mockery. But under Lilo's patient guidance, they gradually found their balance and started to ride the waves. Each successful ride was cheered by the group; each wipeout greeted with hearty laughter resounding above the sound of crashing waves.

Their morning ended with them sprawled out on their boards, floating aimlessly as they watched a pod of dolphins playfully frolicking in the distance. It was a beautiful spectacle that added to the magic of their Hawaiian voyage. After bidding goodbye to Lilo, they returned to their campsite where a sumptuous brunch awaited them. Freshly caught Mahi-Mahi grilled to perfection over an open flame and served along with pineapple fried rice tantalized their taste buds. The meal was complemented with chilled Mai Tais that tasted like sweet summer in a glass.

Post brunch, it was time for Jake's next surprise - an afternoon spent exploring Hawaii's rich biodiversity in an ATV tour through Maui's lush forest trails. As they rumbled through uncharted paths, trailing dust behind them, they marveled at Hawaii's natural splendor.

The evening saw them arriving at a handsome plantation house owned by an old friend of Jake's. There, they were greeted with a traditional Hawaiian music session followed by a lavish feast of local favourites like huli-huli chicken and haupia. As the moon rose in the night sky and the melodies of ukulele filled the air, they found themselves engrossed in a riveting storytelling session. They listened to tales of ancient Hawaii, of kings and queens, warriors and gods, all narrated with such passion that it made their hearts flutter with awe.

As they retreated to the comfort of their luxurious rooms, filled with laughter and shared memories of yet another extraordinary day, they realized that this journey was far more than just a vacation. It was an immersion into a culture so rich and vibrant that it left them enchanted, longing for more of the beautiful island life that Jake had introduced them to.

Ruby, feeling emboldened by the days' events, and eager to explore the limits of her consciousness, suggested they try something different - an experiment with the controversial Isd drug. An initial wave of trepidation washed over the group, but ultimately her words ignited a spark of curiosity. The next day, they ventured to a secluded retreat nestled amidst the verdant Hawaiian foliage where their reservations slowly melted away in the face of their looming adventure. As dusk painted the sky in hues of amber and crimson, they each consumed a small paper tab. Initially, laughter filled the air as vibrant colors danced before their eyes and patterns swirled in rapturous motion. The lush tropical landscape pulsed with newfound vibrancy, and for a moment they felt a profound connection to the universe around them.

However, as hours passed, reality began to warp and distort. Jake was the first to descend into a nightmarish abyss as paranoia clung to him like an unwelcome shadow. He found himself locked in an internal struggle with his mind as he grappled to reclaim his sense of reality from the clutches of his unchecked fears and anxieties.

Ethan and Mia's experience took a similarly dark turn. Hallucinations turned ghastly, faces twisted into grotesque masks that were hued in unimaginable colours. What felt like centuries passed in agonizing slow motion as they wrestled with unseen demons veiled behind their closed eyelids.

Their laughter had faded into panicked whispers that echoed through the otherwise tranquil retreat. Ruby remained quiet amidst all this, consumed by guilt for suggesting what had become a terrifying descent into their own darkest corners. Desperately trying to navigate through this storm, Ruby managed to contact their guide who promptly called for medical help. As sirens wailed in the distance - an eerie counterpoint to the soothing serenade of nocturnal creatures - they found themselves torn between two worlds: the vibrant beauty of Hawaiian paradise and the chaotic labyrinth of their minds.

The retreat, once a haven of peace, had transformed into a place of torment as they battled against the tide of their subconscious fears. Their adventure, once filled with laughter and exploration, had become a harrowing journey that tested the limits of their sanity. As the emergency vehicles rushed them from paradise to purgatory, they prayed for a reprieve from their psychedelic ordeal, yearning for a return to the tranquil island life they'd swiftly taken for granted.
