Shattered Vows Shining Comeback

Chapter 55

Chapter 55 I Won’t Watch From the Sidelines

With the tripartite collaboration between Quantum Corporation, Hall Group, and Savant Group nearly finalized, the next step was to address the details of the agreement.

As both Savant Group and Hall Group were investing significant resources, it was crucial to confirm every aspect. A small oversight could lead to millions in lost profits. No one wanted to see their money wasted.

The moment Gwen opened the project file, she frowned. “Why is Savant Group’s personnel list missing from the exchange project?”

It was standard practice for the three companies to share strategic information. The documents clearly indicated that Quantum Corporation and Hall Group were to share resources, yet Savant Group had been excluded.

“These projects were previously managed solely by Hall Group and Quantum Corp. Adding Savant Group’s personnel now would slow down progress. We’ll inform you once we have results.”

The speaker was Priscilla Pearson, a female director sent by Quantum Corporation. She looked to be in her 40s and had aged well, though the stiffness of her smile suggested she might have gotten Botox.

“Oh, really?” Gwen nodded, seemingly agreeing with Priscilla’s reasoning-

She closed the project proposal and smiled sweetly. Then, Ms. Pearson, could you explain why, even after signing the contract, our side still hasn’t been allowed to review the core technology for the nanorobots?”

Priscilla took a sip from her water glass. She was prepared for this question. “These matters should be discussed once Mr. Duncan returns. We wouldn’t want any accidental leaks of technology that could harm Quantum Corporation.”

She cast a sidelong glance at Jake. Upon realizing he had no intention of speaking up, she felt a wave of reassurance wash over her.

She wasn’t worried that Jake had any opinion about the commotion today, with the divorce drama in the air, he was likely relishing the chance to make Gwen look bad.

Gwen smirked coldly. “So, what you’re saying is that as long as Mr. Duncan is abroad, Savant Group won’t have access to the core technology? If he never returns, does that mean we’ll just be throwing money to watch from the sidelines?”

“That’s not true, Ms. Lawson. We’re just acting out of concern for confidentiality.” Priscilla smiled at the department heads. “Isn’t that right?”

Everyone remained silent, clearly siding with Priscilla.

Meanwhile, Jake sat quietly, observing Gwen like a bystander.

Just then, Gwen casually said, “In that case, I’ll withdraw my funding.”

Priscilla’s expression changed instantly. Her earlier intimidation tactics had caused Savant Group to withdraw funding. Once Ashton returned, she knew she wouldn’t be spared from the repercussions.

“Don’t make such a joke, Ms. Lawson. We’ve signed a contract, and withdrawing now would constitute a breach.”

“That’s fine. Consider it a breach of contract,” Gwen replied nonchalantly.

Priscilla nervously set her water glass down. “Savant Group would be liable for substantial penalties!”

“That money is a drop in the bucket for us. Instead of just watching from the sidelines, we’d rather toss that money away,”

Gwen’s eyes glinted with a hint of threat as she continued, “Besides, we can easily make that money back by obstructing your medical research projects.”

Priscilla felt her scalp tingle with anxiety. Cold sweat even broke out on her forehead.

Quantum Corporation needed Savant Group’s funds and the vast medical network they offered. If they terminated the

contract, it could lead to serious consequences, possibly even shutting down the nanorobots project.

Priscilla had meticulously used Carson to attract Savant Group’s investment, and she couldn’t let it all fall apart over such trivial matters.

At this moment, she regretted being swayed by Carson’s provocations. The idea of trying to suppress Gwen to gain more profit had turned out to be a complete joke.

“Please don’t be upset, Ms. Lawson. We can negotiate this. Let’s stick to the contract. I’ll have someone handle it immediately.”

“Since it’s negotiable…” Gwen’s gaze swept over the various department heads, who had varying expressions. “If you think adding personnel to the project is a hassle, raise your hand. Feel free to resign after the meeting.”

At once, the room erupted into chaos. Everyone had refrained from including Savant Group’s personnel at Priscilla’s insistence. Why was the blame falling on them now?

“The contract clearly states that Savant Group has the right to appoint or dismiss department heads involved in the project. Am I wrong, Ms. Pearson?”

Priscilla felt utterly vulnerable, and her smile grew increasingly strained. “What about the remaining projects, Ms. Lawson?”

“Deputy heads can take over. If you lack this basic level of staffing, it makes me question Quantum Corporation’s capabilities.”

Gwen looked at Priscilla with an ingenuine smile and continued calmly, “That would only reinforce the need to breach

the contract.”
