Rebirth In Divorce: My New Mr. Perfect

Chapter 271

Chapter 271

Irene's heart raced as anger boiled inside her, but she forced herself to suppress it, considering the setting. She glanced at Yonas beside her, recalling what he had discussed with her grandpa at home.

In a short while, the assistant brought over the contract, and within ten minutes, Dean was already shaking hands with Morgan after signing it. Although the Sanchez family's issue was resolved, the wine tasting event was still ongoing.

Yasmine, who didn't recognize any of the professional terminology the sommeliers spouted after tasting various wines, had of course encountered unfamiliar wines as the lady of the Sanchez family. Her father used to tell her about wine tasting back home. She remained sitting in the corner, with Bernard and Lucy accompanying her. Ignoring the beef jerky in their hands, the scene appeared quite harmonious.

Just as Yasmine was about to get up and leave, Irene called out to her. "Ms. Sanchez, don't rush off. I have a bottle of red wine I'd like you and Mr. Chavez to taste."

Yasmine chuckled, "Ms. White, you're trying to invite Mr. Chavez to taste your wine, but I'm not so sure about that for me."

"Ms. Sanchez, you're mistaken. I genuinely want you to try this wine," Irene said, motioning for the server to decant the bottle. She poured glasses for everyone, including Morgan. "Give it a sip and see what kind of wine it is." Bernard looked at Irene with a hint of confusion before picking up a glass and taking a sip.

Yasmine followed suit, first sniffing the wine and observing its color. Morgan took a sip and found it indeed to be an excellent wine. Yasmine also took a sip and nodded in agreement.

Bernard placed his bottle on the table, a slight crease in his brow "Could it be the Ciel d'Hiver?" Although not as famous as Romanée-Conti, Ciel d'Hiver is quite well-known and is a favorite among many Hollywood actresses. The waiter had already brought up a bucket of ice. Unlike regular red wine, Ciel d'Hiver is made from a mix of different grape varieties: Pinot Noir, Mourvèdre, and Chardonnay, blended in various proportions to create different flavors. Yasmine disagreed with that opinion, noting that Ciel d'Hiver comes in three varieties: the Red Label, Purple Label, and Black Label.

Irene asked mischievously, "Ms. Sanchez, can you taste the difference?"

"Ciel d'Hiver," Yasmine replied.

"Are you sure it's Ciel d'Hiver?" Irene asked.

Yasmine nodded, then shook her head. "I took a sip and found it sweet and very smooth."

Bernard nodded in agreement, but something still seemed off to him. It tasted like Ciel d'Hiver, yet something felt a bit amiss. He glanced at Yasmine.

"Ms. White, this really is Ciel d'Hiver," Yasmine said, trying to be patient. "Don't you all know that?"

Irene scoffed, "Ms. Sanchez, listen up. This bottle here is the world's most expensive champagne, 'Whispering Tides.' It was found in the remains of a sunken ship over twenty years ago, and you're mixing it up, Ms. Sanchez." "No, you're wrong," Yasmine insisted.

"What?" Irene raised an eyebrow.

Yasmine continued, "Whispering Tides may be a wine left in the shipwreck, but before it got lost, it was called Ciel d'Hiver. Even though it has a new name now, it can't change the fact that it's still Ciel d'Hiver."

Bernard looked at Yasmine with admiration. He knew she was right; while tasting the Whispering Tides earlier, he sensed something was off. Still, the way she explained it made sense. It truly wasn't the same as a typical Ciel d'Hiver. Being submerged in seawater for so long, it was bound to have an extra flavor.

Irene probably didn't expect her to answer like that and was momentarily at a loss.

Dean laughed, "Ms. Sanchez is spot on, and Ms. White isn't wrong either. Whispering Tides was Ciel d'Hiver before it sank to the seabed, but that's just its name."

Lucy watched as Irene's face turned pale, then pulled Yasmine away from the area with a smile. She knew that as long as Yasmine was around, Irene would find ways to confront her. Thankfully, until the party ended, Irene stayed occupied talking with Bernard, while Yasmine calmly observed Irene's every move

Many people attended this wine-tasting event; members of various prominent families were present, along with many heavily made-up women aiming to attach themselves to the elite. The wealthy young ladies wouldn't deign to speak to these. people and would even consider appearing at the same event with them as lowering their standards, suggesting the staff to escort them out.

On one side were complaints and exasperation, contrasting the calm drinking on the other side. Suddenly, she realized the lavish lives of the elites might be a dream that ordinary people could never reach.

On the way back, Morgan still felt a bit dazed thinking about what just happened. "Yasmine, why did Bernard agree to sign the contract with us?"

Yasmine shook her head, "I don't know, it all feels a bit strange."

Bernard has been in the wine business for decades; he must have seen all sorts of tactics. Businessmen prioritize profit, so she didn't think that just some casual criticisms of other wines and Lucy's antics with beef jerky could truly make this industry giant agree to sign a contract. "We need to investigate this slowly."

Yasmine nodded, and as they traveled back under a sparsely starry sky, she remembered a message sent by the private detective she hired last time. "Morgan, turns out Irene and Grady were classmates in high school."

Morgan thought, Grady? The same guy who was involved with Yvette in scheming against my cousin in the villa district last time. "What do you mean? Does it have something to do with Irene?"

Yasmine's gaze was icy. "I've suspected this since it happened, but I never had any evidence. Even though Yvette hates me, she loves Xavier. With Xavier so in love with her, why would she go to Grady for help? Besides, Yvette went to high school with Xavier, she never had the chance to meet Grady."

Morgan's expression turned serious, "So the person Grady really likes is Irene? Everything he did was for her, even making false testimony to help her get away?"

"I fear that's the truth, but Yvette definitely showed up in the villa area that night," Yasmine said.

Morgan's face was chillingly cold, "The horseback riding field, the villa, Teresa-she's involved in everything, sometimes directly leading. She's got her sights on you, Yasmine."

"I'll fight them no matter where they come from," Yasmine said confidently. "Even if it's just one thread leading to the truth, I'll climb it, and personally make sure she ends up in jail."
