Not His Type Of Mate

Chapter 190

Alpha Leo's POV

I was surprised to see her excited reaction. I was expecting her to hesitate or answer awkwardly, but her reaction was beyond my expectations, and it surprised me greatly. She hugged me so tightly that I found it hard to breathe, but breathing wasn't my priority at that moment. I was too surprised to even think about it. How could she be happy to get married to a crippled man? It made me wonder if there was any other woman in the world who would want to do the same thing for love.

After a few more minutes of hugging and screaming, she finally broke the hug and looked into my eyes. "I'm happy! I'm so happy that I don't know what to do. I can't believe you just proposed to me! You mean, we will get married? I will become your wife? Is this a dream? I can't believe this!" She kept babbling, and I couldn't help but chuckle at how cute she looked at that moment.

Her eyes sparkled with delight, and she kept smiling excitedly. I thought about her faking her emotions; I thought maybe she could be lying about how she felt at the moment. But I realized that wasn't right because the excitement she was showing to me was so extreme that I already knew she meant it, and she was truly happy. "Thank you very much. I'm so grateful. Thank you for forgiving me and accepting me back. I thought I would still have to beg for forgiveness for a long time before you forgive me and accept me back, but you are so kind. Thank you so much for accepting me back into your life and upgrading my position in your life. I'm so glad." She was finally able to control herself a little, so she appreciated my decision a lot calmer than earlier, but the big smile never left her face.

"It's okay," I replied and smiled back at her. Her face flushed, and she lowered her head as she covered her face, shyly. She turned her back. "I'm coming. I will be back," she said, and without waiting for me to reply, she ran out of the room. I couldn't stop myself from thinking about what she wanted to do, but most of all, there was something I needed to sort out as fast as possible, so I immediately reached out to Maddison through the mind link. "Can you come to my room? Let's see, it's urgent." I said to him. "I will be right there," he replied, and the mind link ended.

A few minutes later, Maddison entered the room and walked up to me. "What's up?" He asked, and I smiled. "I'm okay, but there is a problem," I replied, and he frowned. "A problem? What problem is that?" He questioned, and I sighed. I looked at the door, trying to sense if anyone was there, but there was no one, and I sighed in relief. "It's Ava. I asked her to marry me, and she agreed," I said to him, and his eyes lit up. "Really? She agreed? This is great news! Congratulations, man!" He said excitedly, and I grunted. "You know this wasn't my plan, Maddison. I expected her to reject me, but she accepted me instead, and now we have to get married. I didn't plan it this way, and you know it," I said to him, and his smile died down. He stared at me without saying a word for a while, which made me feel as if I had gone too far, and I let out a deep breath. "Don't misunderstand me. I didn't mean that I hate the fact that she said yes, but I'm just confused. I don't know what to do..." I added, and that was when his expression returned to normal. He must have really misunderstood me earlier.

"Do you love her? Do you want to be with her?" He asked me boldly as he moved closer to me, and my eyes twitched. I had never thought about it before. "I don't know, Maddison. I'm so confused about it," I said to him, and he sighed. "If you love her, then go for her. Don't miss this chance because of her past attitude. She might have changed for real, and I would like it if you give it some thought and make a decision after that," He advised, and I sucked in a deep breath. Thinking about it, I realized that my anger toward her had really clouded my feelings toward her, and I had no idea if I loved her or not, which was confusing me a lot. "I don't know, Maddison. I feel like I've been angry for too long, and I don't know what I feel anymore," I replied dejectedly as I sat up in bed and hung my head. Maddison was quiet for a while as he seemed to be thinking about something. "I think the moon goddess has a reason for bringing you two together. She must have done it for a very good reason. You should try to forgive her so you two can have a good life while you also look forward to finding the reason the moon goddess brought you two together, or what do you think?" He asked me, and I realized he might be right. I was about to reply to him when the door opened, and Ava came in with a big smile on her face. She bowed to greet Maddison and handed me a cup of water. "Have this," she said, and I collected the glass from her. I looked into her eyes, and I figured that she must have left the room earlier to do something to calm her heart. She must have been so excited that she had to do something to control her emotions, but thinking about that only made my feelings more complicated. "Do you need anything else? Is there something you would like me to get for you?" She asked me, but I only shook my head, feeling uncomfortable with the way things turned out. This wasn't how I had planned it, and it made me feel awkward about everything. Maddison tapped my leg, and I looked at him. "I'm leaving," he said to me, and I nodded before he walked toward the door and left the room, leaving me alone with Ava and increasing the amount of discomfort in my body. "Do you feel pain anywhere? Is your body aching anywhere? Your legs?" She continued to question as she looked at me with utmost care in her eyes, and I shook my head. "I'm not feeling pains anywhere. It's just that I can't feel my legs. I'm okay except for that," I replied, and she sighed. "Don't worry about that, okay? Not being able to use your legs doesn't mean you can't do anything else. There are a lot of things you can do without your legs, and you are a special person. Nothing can hold you down, not even some unknown poison. I believe you can do everything because you are you," She tried comforting me, but I just continued to stare at her without saying a word, while different thoughts ran through my mind.

"Is she aware that I'm okay and that I'm only lying about my legs?" I asked Ethan, as that was the only reason I could think of. How could someone be so excited to marry a cripple?

"She doesn't. She is just sincerely happy," Ethan replied to me, and that confused me even more. I just couldn't register what was happening in my head; it was totally like a dream to me.

"Why is she so excited to marry me, even when I told her I can't walk anymore? Is she naive or what?" I asked Ethan with a confused tone.

"She is not naive. I guess she just likes you that much. She likes you so much that she wouldn't mind marrying you even if you can't walk," he replied, but I still found it hard to believe that.

"What are you thinking about? You seem to be in deep thought," Ava asked, as she seemed to have noticed my silence, and I shook my head.

"Nothing. I'm just feeling sleepy. I want to sleep," I said, rubbing my eyes as if I was truly feeling sleepy, and she made an "Oh" sound.

"So, do you want me to stay or leave?" She asked sweetly, and I yawned.

"I would like to also think about some things alone," I said, indirectly sending her away, and I was glad she understood me immediately, as it would have been a hassle to start explaining everything to her again. She nodded her head and smiled, then stood up. "Okay then. Call me if you need anything," she said, and covered my legs with the duvet before she left the room.

I stared at the closed door for a while and groaned. "This is confusing, Ethan," I said out loud to my wolf.
