Chapter 2407
Initially, Sheldon thought that after he had reported the events to Tremaine, he would take his leave. However, he stopped and looked at Tremaine.
A flash of hesitation appeared in Tremaine's dark eyes. Then he asked, "How is she doing?"
He was clearly referring to Yesseca.
Sheldon said, "She is doing really good. I saw how ruddy Miss Cowell's face was, she was smiling too. She is happy!"
This was an exaggeration.
However, it did not look like Yesseca was in a bad state either.
"Is that so?" Tremaine murmured, "So long as she is happy."
After a pause, he said, "When she mentioned me... was she unhappy?"
Sheldon was shocked.
He could clearly feel the anxiousness in Tremaine's voice when he asked that question.
Sheldon could not help but feel a sharp pain in his heart.
He had always been a powerful and fearless individual! He was always so sure of himself.
However, now he could barely conceal the emotions on his face.
Mr. Tremaine should not be showing such emotions!
"Mr. Tremaine, she is happy!" Sheldon repeated, "When Preslie suspected that we're lying, it was Yesseca who convinced Preslie otherwise. She said that you weren't lying, because you valued your pride more than anything else!" Sheldon initially did not want Tremaine to know about those words that were said about him.
However, he still did so at last.
He wanted to let Tremaine know that Yesseca did not hate him that much.
He too hoped that Tremaine would not show such cautious expressions whenever he was mentioning Yesseca.
Tremaine was somewhat stunned.
His dark eyes were filled with astonishment, "She really said that?"
Sheldon nodded.
Suddenly, a strange emotion flooded Tremaine's heart.
Yesseca actually said that.
Was... was she praising him?
That day, Tremaine returned to Quartley Palace quite early.
Once he returned, he entered his bedroom.
A portrait of him and Yesseca hung on the bedroom wall. Tremaine stared at it for several hours.
When he left, Tremaine reached out and stroked Yesseca's face in the painting, "Yesseca, it turns out that you still know me. Thank you for your understanding. I... I really am happy."
He leaned his head on the Yesseca's face in the painting. The real Yesseca knew nothing about it.
She did not know that this simple sentence from her was enough to make Tremaine happy for a long time.
In Quartley Palace.
Even though Tremaine still came back late, he did not leave early.
Unlike before, he did not leave Quartley Palace before dawn anymore.
Every day, Tremaine would have breakfast in the palace before he left.
The breakfast he had was the dessert which was provided by Madam Quartley.
Tremaine specially told the housekeeper to give him one every single day.
At first, Rorita had no idea about it.
After all, if Tremaine did not leave as early as before, she still thought that he left too early, as she got up late and even ate late.
She only knew about this after a servant told her that.
The next day, Rorita got up early too.
She went to the dining room and saw Tremaine there.
He was having breakfast.
He was having croissants, toasts and a pot of black tea.
This was what Tremaine had for breakfast.
Rorita walked over and said softly,
"Mr. Tremaine, these are all
ē
desserts. Don't you think it is a little
greasy? Would you like me to send
some breakfast that is suitable?"
Even though the black tea was good, Rorita had been staying in the
Quartley Palace long enough
understand Tremaine's main preferences.
Tremaine looked at Rorita and told her, "There's no need for that."
