Chapter 238 A Master of Time Management
Alaric joined Stellan for a barbecue and then took her back to Reassuring Clinic.
"Make sure to hire a doctor soon, or you'll be swamped," Alaric said.
"I know, the job ad is already up," Stellan replied, adjusting his tie. "Is the entertainment center almost done?"
"Yeah, it'll be finished next month and open right after," Alaric confirmed.
"Then you'll be busy again, and your treatment will get delayed. I should contact Josep and work with the research institute on that special medicine." "That's too much for you," Alaric said, kissing her cheek.
"I want to treat you properly, but you're always so occupied," Stellan sighed. "Don't overwork, eat on time, and get enough sleep."
Alaric nodded. "You too. Let me know when you hire a doctor."
Stellan nodded. "Okay, Reassuring Clinic is about to open, so you should head to the company."
"I'll pick you up this afternoon."
"Okay," Stellan said with a sweet smile, kissing him before heading into the clinic.
On the first day of Reassuring Clinic's opening, Stellan felt both nervous and excited, hoping for a good start.
After getting in the car, Alaric glanced at Ambrose's house, then called Silas. "Tell Ambrose to meet me at Nexus Innovations immediately."
After hanging up, Alaric told the driver, "To the company."
"Yes, Mr. Knight."
It took about twenty minutes to drive from Reassuring Clinic to Nexus Innovations. When Alaric got to the office, he was told that Ambrose was already waiting in the reception room. Alaric admired Ambrose's energy. Despite being almost always at the construction site, Ambrose still found time to spy on Galatea and manage the project well.
Whenever Alaric needed him, Ambrose showed up quickly. He was a master of time management.
"Mr. Knight," Ambrose stood up as Alaric entered. "You told me not to come to Nexus Innovations, so I've been avoiding it. When Silas called, I was worried. Is there a problem with the project?" Alaric looked at him. "The project under your management is flawless. I couldn't find a fault even if I tried."
"Thank you, Mr. Knight," Ambrose said, pretending not to know. "If it's not about work, then I'm even more anxious. Why did you want me here?"
"It's not about business but personal," Alaric said. "I instructed the finance department to transfer the project funds to Far East International yesterday, including an extra fifty million dollars. Did you get it?"
"An extra fifty million dollars?" Ambrose was surprised. "I've been at the site and haven't checked. I'll call the finance department to return it."
"I already said, it's not about business!"
Seeing Alaric's expression, Ambrose was genuinely confused.
"What do you mean, Mr. Knight?" Ambrose asked.
"Mr. Vale, don't you think it's unfair to do good deeds without expecting anything in return?" Alaric said bluntly. "The money is for the shop Stellan rented and the house across from it. This is personal, so I had the finance department include it with the project funds to Far East International for convenience."
Ambrose's expression turned grave. He knew Alaric would eventually find out about the shop, but he didn't expect him to know about the house too.
"Mr. Knight, you're very generous. The shop and my house aren't worth that much," Ambrose said calmly.
"The extra is interest and my thanks," Alaric replied. "During that time, Stellan and I had a falling out, and I was too busy to help her. Thanks to you, she got the loan, the shop, and a low rent. You even dealt with troublemakers. It was a lot of favors."
Ambrose was shocked. Alaric even knew about the troublemakers?
"Alaric, since you've made it clear, there's no need for me to pretend," Ambrose said coldly. "Yes, I did all that. Don't you feel any shame? When she was at her lowest, it was me, not you, who helped her."
Ambrose's words were provocative. With the entertainment center project almost done, Alaric couldn't change construction companies now. Ambrose had planned to confront Alaric after the project, but it came sooner than expected. Alaric's face darkened, his eyes filled with a murderous glare. "So what if it was you?" he said with a cold smile. "You only did these things behind her back. Would you dare let her know? No, because if she found out, she'd be disgusted and might even call the police. And you should know, I'm now her legal husband. You have no right to boast in front of me!"
Ambrose clenched his fists. He knew Alaric was now Stellan's husband.
"You may be married to her now, but does that mean you've won?" Ambrose said defiantly. "It's not over yet. No one can tell who will win in the end!"
"Ambrose, shame on you," Alaric said, seeing Ambrose's audacity. "If you want to dig your own grave, don't blame me for being ruthless. Whether you give up or not is your business, but if you approach Stellan or pull any more stunts, I'll make good on my threats."
Ambrose sneered, "Fine, once the entertainment center project is over, we won't have any employment relationship. We can compete fairly."
Compete fairly? Did Ambrose think he could compete with Alaric for Stellan or in business? Was he even qualified?
Alaric found it amusing and didn't bother to respond. He picked up some documents and started reading. "Considering you've been busy with the project and haven't had time to pack, I've already sent people to help you move. No need to thank me."
