Chapter 215 Can't Get Bad Luck
After Galatea left the hospital, she waited in the car. As Cormac and Alaric talked, she felt particularly anxious, constantly looking towards the hospital entrance.
After a while, she saw Cormac come out first. Seeing his expression, Galatea felt bad. Then she saw Alaric come out.
When Alaric got in the car, Galatea hurriedly asked, "How did it go? Couldn't you persuade him? Is Cormac still determined to leave the hospital?"
Hearing Cormac's words earlier, Alaric felt extremely upset and guilty.
Alaric was no longer so resolute in his decision. "Galatea, did I make a mistake in this matter? Was I too heartless? Too uncompromising?"
If it were just Griffon, Alaric wouldn't be so conflicted. But now, the person most hurt was Cormac, who was innocent from the beginning.
"You didn't want this either." Galatea understood Alaric's thoughts. "Ravenna and Orion's deaths were unexpected and unwanted by anyone. But it happened, and it happened just as Griffon was caught. It was truly unforeseen." Yes, everything happened too suddenly. Alaric just wanted Griffon to face legal consequences for his wrongdoings.
Even though Alaric knew that Orion was aware of everything, he never intended to harm Orion, and even more so, he hoped Ravenna would recover.
But unexpectedly, on the same night, both Ravenna and Orion passed away. Was this really a coincidence? Was it fate?
Just as he thought of this, Alaric suddenly felt dizzy. Galatea quickly supported him and asked, "Alaric, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"
If Alaric experienced significant emotional stress, it could trigger his condition, so Galatea was particularly worried.
Alaric comforted her, "I'm fine. Maybe, I didn't rest well last night."
Galatea advised, "Then let's go back and rest. You've been busy non-stop since morning."
Alaric said, "It's okay."
Compared to Cormac's situation, Alaric's condition seemed insignificant.
With such a major incident in the Nash family, Alaric was really worried that Cormac might do something drastic. Since Cormac didn't want to see him, he could only have someone secretly watch over him. Alaric pulled Galatea close and said, "You didn't sleep much last night either. Get some rest."
Galatea couldn't sleep at all, but seeing Alaric's bad mood, she decided not to ask anything and let him have some quiet time.
"Okay," Galatea responded and closed her eyes in Alaric's arms.
After Galatea fell asleep, Alaric looked out the window, recalling Cormac's words.
Reflecting on their friendship, he understood that Cormac always took the initiative. He realized he was wrong for not treating Cormac as an equal.
Unfortunately, now that he knew his mistake, it seemed too late.
The Nash family had so many issues to deal with, and the reporters didn't spare Cormac. When they couldn't catch him at the hospital, they blocked him on his way back.
"Regarding my father's matter, I apologize to the public on his behalf. I am willing to accept any investigation. If the investigation finds any issues with me, I will bear all consequences. If not, please stop talking about it. I will not respond to any more questions about the Nash family." Cormac firmly told the reporters, and seeing his interview, Marigold was in disbelief.
Marigold sighed, "The Nash family was a leading entertainment company and internationally renowned. It's shocking how it collapsed overnight."
"Isn't it?" Joe quickly added, "The Storm family was the same. Brennan was a globally famous entrepreneur with vast influence. But the Storm family also collapsed overnight."
"The Storm family? The Nash family?" Marigold shivered. "Stellan and Cormac are both close to Alaric. What if they bring bad luck to the Knight family?"
Thinking of this, Marigold became extremely anxious. "No matter how big the company, if bad luck strikes, it collapses. The Knight family must stay vigilant and avoid these unlucky people. Otherwise, we'll be doomed too. The witch said so." Marigold started looking for her phone. "I need to call Alaric immediately. The Nash family is like a plague now; everyone avoids them. He must not stay close to Cormac."
Just as Marigold was about to dial, Joe quickly stopped her. "Mrs. Knight, you know Mr. Nash and Mr. Knight's friendship. Mr. Knight was already upset with you because of Stellan. Now, with the Nash family's troubles, Mr. Knight hasn't had time to talk to you. Please avoid provoking him further."
Marigold insisted, "But this is serious. The witch said bad luck is contagious. One Stellan wasn't enough. Now there's Cormac. If these two keep clinging to Alaric, how can the Knight family be okay?"
"You need to hold back. Don't call now. Mr. Knight is surely in a bad mood. Stay away from him for now." Joe took her phone away.
Reluctantly, Marigold gave up the idea. "Fine, I won't call. But this news is so annoying. I'm going to see Caspian. I miss him so much."
"Alright, let's go see Mr. Knight," Joe said.
Marigold went to Tranquil Valley mansion to see Harry, while Alaric and Galatea returned to the company's lounge. They had planned to take Caspian and Elisa out for a relaxing weekend, but now they were in no mood. They let Mia and the maid take them out instead.
Galatea comforted, "Haven't you arranged for someone to watch over Cormac? Don't worry too much. Get some sleep."
Besides sleeping, Alaric didn't know what else to do. He was very troubled.
Following Galatea's advice, he went to sleep, but soon he started having nightmares. In his dream, Cormac was standing on the rooftop of a sixty-story building.
Cormac kept pacing on the edge of the rooftop, then suddenly jumped off.
Alaric woke up from the nightmare, and Galatea quickly asked, "What's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?"
