Chapter 3229 Aelion Strikes
A few of the jade needles were deflected and shot back toward Aelion. With a swift motion of his white cloak, the needles vanished from sight. In the next instant, Mortimer launched himself toward Aelion, throwing a powerful punch. Aelion took a step back, his figure Aelion's expression suddenly changed as he was forced to retreat several steps to neutralize the overwhelming force from Mortimer.
ghostly and elusive, as his delicate hand reached for Mortimer's wrist.
"Impressive technique."
"Impressive agility."
The two exchanged compliments before their black and white figures clashed again. Aelion's movements were as swift and unpredictable as a phantom, making it difficult for Mortimer to land a hit.
Suddenly, Aelion struck with a punch aimed at Mortimer's back. Mortimer reacted just in time, stepping forward and turning to meet the attack with his own punch. Their fists collided, but Mortimer's face paled as he felt his right hand go limp from the impact. "Your skills are remarkable, but I'm not at my best today. We'll continue this another time," Mortimer said, turning to leave. But Aelion wasn't about to let him escape. He closed in swiftly, his white cloak swirling as dozens of jade needles shot toward Mortimer. Hearing the whistling sound of the needles cutting through the air, Mortimer grabbed Kurtis' body, using it as a shield while spinning rapidly. Kurtis' body was instantly riddled with holes, blood gushing out. As Mortimer defended himself, Aelion appeared right in front of him again.
Another punch was thrown, and Mortimer, gritting his teeth, was forced to use his left hand to block. The crisp sound of bones snapping echoed as Mortimer's face turned pale. He leaped onto the wall, glaring at Aelion.
"Don't burn your bridges, Tarian. I, Mortimer Zedler, will remember this fight!" he spat, before retreating into the night.
Aelion didn't immediately pursue him. Instead, he stood still in the residence. "Mortimer Zedler..." he murmured, committing the name to memory. He would have someone investigate the man and uncover his identity. Despite being old enough to be considered ancient, Aelion was out of touch with the world outside and hadn't even heard of Mortimer before this encounter.
Looking down at the two
unconscious women lying on the ground, Aelion sighed. "Your master is dead. Staying alive will only make you victims to others." With a flick of his wrist, two jade needles flew out, piercing the women's hearts.
Aelion brought his hand to his mouth and let out a soft whistle. Immediately, hundreds of Aerial Legion soldiers, dressed in their distinctive uniforms, swarmed into the courtyard, gathering in front of Aelion. "General Tarian."
"How is the roundup of the Gloam Division personnel?"
"Most of them have been captured. When they heard we were from the Aerial Legion, they didn't dare resist."
Aelion nodded and continued
ordering, "Tomorrow morning, line them up in front of the Aerial Legion command center and have them kneel. Let the people identify them. Those who have committed crimes will be handed over to the people for justice. Do not interfere,
understood?"
"Yes, sir!"
Aelion's words were effectively a death sentence for the remaining members of the Gloam Division.
Those who had avoided wrongdoing and survived had already been transferred to the Aerial Legion. In fact, in the oppressive environment of the Gloam Division, anyone who refused to participate in the abuse and exploitation of the citizens was ostracized and suppressed. The idea that one could uphold justice while everyone else committed atrocities was an affront to the corrupt members of the division.
Thus, after meeting with Aelion, Gadel had instructed Arnold to pull out the few Gloam Division members who had not preyed on the populace.
"And what about those still in the Gloam Division's dungeon?" Aelion inquired, causing the Aerial Legion soldiers to turn pale at the thought.
