Chapter 854: OK, OK, OK, here you go
"All right!"
The old man raised his hand against his lips and coughed a few times, one hand behind his back, acting like a majestic elder.
He looked askance at Rupert and grunted softly, "For Eloise's sake, let you pick whatever you want!"
Hector looked at the old man's pretend serious expression with a smirk.
He knew no one could resist his daughter-in-law's pampering.
No, even a serious old boy like his grandfather could not help but loosen his tongue.
Seeing that Hector was laughing at himself the old man glared at him in a bad mood, like a child having a tantrum.
Turning his head, he put on a kind smile again and spoke softly to Eloise, fearing that a louder voice might frighten her.
"Take your pick of anything you like, girl! Grandpa can still give you this."
"Grandpa, I see that blood jade in your shop is..."
Hector spoke up at the right time, he deliberately trailed off and looked meaningfully at the old man.
The old man's smile froze on his face as he snapped his head around and scolded Hector, "You brat, you've really been thinking about that blood jade all day! I tell you, no! No way!" Eloise couldn't hold back her laughter as she watched the grandfather and grandson bicker.
Grandpa is so serious, but he is so cute in front of Hector.
"Ahem."
Realising that the image might be gone for good, the old man blushed and simply ignored Hector and said seriously to Eloise, "Girl, go and choose!"
At the end, he added, "If you really like the blood jade, you can just take it."
Eloise smiled and nodded her head in response, "Yes, thank you Grandpa."
It would be a lie to say that the heart is not moved.
The old man treasured that blood jade so much, but as a result, he even said the words to give it to her.
It is enough to see that there is a real heart for her.
"Come on, brat, go and play chess with me."
The old man gave Hector a tug, fetched the board and dragged him out into the courtyard to sit down.
Once the two had walked out, Eloise also wandered around the shop.
The antique shop is quite antique in style and things are neatly arranged.
The shop has a good selection of jade, paintings and calligraphy, as well as a number of things that are difficult to see in the market.
There were so many things that Eloise didn't know exactly what to choose for Master Khan for a while.
She regretted a little that she had not asked Master Khan about his preferences in a sideways manner when she met him yesterday.
Eloise suddenly remembered something, took out her mobile phone and dialled Edgar's number.
The phone was answered after a few rings.
"Eloise, what can I do for you?"
"Well, cousin, I want to ask, what does Grandpa like better?"
Eloise opened the door and asked.
Although she had gone with Edgar yesterday to pick out a meet-and-greet gift for Master Khan, she still didn't know much about Master Khan's preferences.
In the rush yesterday, I took Edgar's advice and bought the string of Buddhist beads straight away, without having the time to ask more questions.
Edgar on the other end pondered for a moment, "The old man is quite fond of things related to medicine."
"Medicine?"
Eloise was a bit baffled, and Edgar gave a definite "hmm".
She froze slightly, said thank you, and hung up the phone.
Words related to medicine...
Eloise couldn't really think of anything to do with medicine for a while.
All she could do was hang her head and wander carefully around the shop.
No corner is left untouched that might be overlooked.
Eloise was surprised to find a small bookshelf in her grandfather's antique shop.
There were not many books on it, and as she looked through them, most were treasured books left over from many years ago. Eloise got excited and simply checked out the small bookshelf.
The sky is the limit.
She looked at it for a long time and actually, by mistake, found a book related to medicinal herbs.
The book covers are made of a material like parchment and, although well kept, they are old and look very dated.
No other fancy stuff on the cover, just three blurred fonts.
It should have been stored for too long, so it is not clear what the writing is.
If it had anything to do with medicine, wouldn't that be what she was looking for?
Eloise flipped it open with interest and read it.
She could read the first few, which were herbs and descriptions of their uses and so on.
The further you go down the page, the more obscure the technical terms on it become.
Eloise simply stopped reading and held the book out in her hands.
She walked over with her books in her arms, "Grandpa, I've chosen them."
Eloise sits on the other side of the chessboard from the pair, then hands out the books with her hands.
The old man fixed his eyes and his surprise was overwhelming, "Good job, girl, you picked something good as soon as you chose it." Hector raised an eyebrow.
He did not look down on the books because they were unremarkable, but waited for the old man to say more.
Often the more insignificant something is, the more valuable it is.
"The book is called The Book of Ten Thousand Medicines."
The old man took the book and gently rubbed his fingers over the blurred three words on the cover.
"It's from an old friend's collection and is said to have been passed down for hundreds of years."
For the average, this collection of 10, 000 medicines may not be of much use.
But for those in the know, it's priceless!
Eloise blinked and looked at the old man and smiled, "Originally treasured books, then I thank Grandpa!"
The old man shook his head with a helpless smile and waved his hand, "OK, OK, OK, here you go."
"You two have taken away all my treasured treasures, so you'll have to come and spend more time with me in the future."
He took the opportunity to demand it.
Eloise smiled in response and got up after placing the Vanilla Collection next to Hector, "Grandpa, I'll go and make you some tea while you continue down." "Good."
The old man agreed with a smile.
Eloise walked into the inner room of the shop and fetched the old man's special tea set and the jar of tea he used to drink from inside.
She cleaned the tea set and boiled water in a small pot.
This was followed by the flowing action of making tea and finally, Eloise walked out with the teapot.
A cup of tea was poured for each of the old man and Hector and placed in his hand.
And then, she sat quietly watching the two play chess.
Both Sr. and Hector are chess players.
This game has been going on for a long time, and it is not yet possible to see the biological father.
The old man's face carried the excitement of a chess match, and the stubborn seriousness of wanting to win the game.
The hours ticked by and soon it was close to noon.
Eloise and Hector simply stayed for lunch together at the old man's place.
"Haha, Hector, you've improved again! I'm sure it's better to play with you!"
The old man had so much fun playing that he couldn't resist a small drink at lunchtime.
He had wanted to drag Hector along for a drink, but Hector refused.
Hector glanced at the treasured book Eloise had selected and smiled deliberately, "Thank you Grandfather for the compliment, it is mainly because you have been generous to Eloise." The old man glared at him in exasperation and rambled on, "You don't know, those little old men play chess when they can't beat me, and it kills me to play with them."
Hector and Eloise laughed together.
"Later on, when you're not doing anything, you two can bring Sweety and the girls to keep me company."
As he left, the old man also gave a very reluctant exhortation.
