Chapter 698: Big Mistake
Hector saw that he was ready and wasn't going to talk too much to him.
Hall let Marian go privately and he was bound to make an example of her.
"In that case, this is the path you have chosen for yourself, and I'm mindful of the fact that you have followed me for many years, so don't take that arm of yours and consider it a lesson to you." Hector's words ring true and cannot be refuted.
Hall sat on the cold, damp ground and closed his eyes.
"Many thanks to the Prince..."
Hall was satisfied that it didn't kill him.
Seeing that he was ready, several men around him dragged Hall to his feet and stood opposite Hector.
Glancing coldly at Hall, Hector kicked Hall directly in the arm.
The sound of bones breaking should ring out.
Hall grunted and sweated coldly.
But he held on hard to this pain and did not scream out.
It's good, it's a man.
This was followed by a second and third kick ... all in the same place.
The sound of bones breaking continued to ring out, and several of the strong men pulling Hall along were worried for Hall.
At this rate, Hall's arm will be broken.
But look at Hector who still has no intention of stopping.
Who has the right to stop Hector when they are underlings?
Blood ran down Hall's arm, staining the already bloodstained ground.
Many of those who had seen the big game still couldn't help but gag a little, frowning tightly and feeling secretly unworthy of Hall.
Looking at Hall's miserable state, Hector's mind was unruffled.
He was not unaware of Hall's feelings for Marian, and he had thought that if Hall and Marian were to end well, he would throw them a big wedding.
It's just that Marian has really taken the path of death upon himself.
Hall is nothing more than a scapegoat.
Catching a glimpse of Hall still breathing, Hector said no more.
Sitting in a side chair, his right hand rubbed his brow, his voice faint but resounding, "Send someone to find Marian, whatever it takes, make sure you catch it!" With those words, Hector left.
Immediately afterwards the rest of the house went out one by one, leaving Hall alone on the floor to languish.
He could feel the blood trickling from his body's wounds, but his heart was at peace.
Back when he let Marian go, he knew this day would come.
However, he doesn't regret it at all.
It was all done willingly and he would have done anything for Marian.
Later in the evening, Hall's consciousness fades a little and he faintly hears movement coming from the doorway.
The door to the room was then opened and Thomas walked in.
He couldn't help but sigh a little at the sight of Hall's miserable state.
Hall's arm was broken, and the blood already at the wound had clotted, giving the broken arm a somewhat grisly appearance. There are no bandages here, let alone any painkillers.
Hector only called in afterwards to stop the bleeding and nothing more.
Because of the pain, his face was very bad and extremely wretched.
Seeing Thomas come in, a hard smile was pulled out.
"Don't you dare smile, it's worse than crying."
Thomas made a gesture to stop.
Hall didn't push it any further, as they had worked together for many years and knew each other well anyway.
Even when the other side sees this unpleasant look, it doesn't feel like anything.
"What brings you here? I don't believe the prince sent you here."
Hall struggled to speak in a flirtatious tone, but his voice was weak.
Thomas sat down next to him and gave him a look.
"You'd better care about yourself first, what are you trying to do when you've got yourself in this state properly?" Hall looked down, smiled, but said nothing.
When he didn't say anything, Thomas' eyes flicked to his injured arm and hesitantly said, "You have this arm..." "It's fine, it's been taken care of." Hall said carelessly.
Thomas saw the perfunctory bandage and thought, "How can you call this treated? It was just a piece of clothing wrapped up.
But there was nothing he could do, if he called a doctor for Hall now, it would be Hall's other arm that would be broken tomorrow. For Hector, he couldn't have known better.
There was a moment of relative silence before Thomas squared his shoulders and said, "Hall, you know how the prince is, why bump up against his bottom line. We don't have to make ourselves look like this for a woman, it's not worth it." It was because he knew Hector's character that Hall risked punishment by letting the man go.
He was a big man, how could he watch his beloved suffer.
"Talk." Thomas said seriously.
Hall lifted his head and said lightly, "Because I like her."
Thomas frowned at that, "Like it so much that you'd rather fold yourself in? Do you know that if the prince gets angry and locks you up for life. Or send you to some shithole, your life would be ruined! You know how hard it was to fight for this position in the first place!"
To ruin his life for a woman is something Thomas does not understand.
Hall looked at Thomas and sighed slightly.
"O old Gu, you don't understand that liking someone is not reasonable."
As he said this, Hall paused and continued, "There was a time when I despised, too, men who would die for a break-up, thinking how could it be so exaggerated. But it wasn't until I experienced it myself that I realised that love is the furthest thing from fair. I've seen the way a prince treats someone who betrays him, how can he stand to have those penalties come to her?"
Thomas was speechless for a long time after listening.
Love really does make people blind, it makes them moth-eaten, it makes them desperate.
At this moment, Thomas admired Hall's courage somewhat.
At least, he's a real man.
But he still had to worry about them.
"Hall, do you really think that by letting Marian go, she'll get away? That the prince would stop pursuing the matter?"
Even though he knew the words were cruel, he had to remind Hall of them.
Hall flinched, keenly aware of what was going on, and said in a deep voice, "What are you trying to say?"
Thomas looked straight at him, word for word.
"I'm just asking you, did the prince really stop caring when Marian ran away?"
At those words, Hall's face turned white and his uninjured hand was clenched into a dead fist.
That's not all, Thomas continued, "You've been with the prince for a long time, you should know his methods, there's no one the prince can't find."
Yeah, there's no one Hector can't find if he's looking for them.
At the moment Hall is dumbfounded.
He was really naive and very wrong!
After a long time, he said in pain, "I'll beg him, punish me any way you want, please let Marian go, I'll do anything if I can let Marian go!"
Thomas sighed, with a hint of pity in his tone.
"The prince won't agree, he values the young lady more than his own life, Marian is moving his eyes, do you think he can stand it? The man has not been found yet, but the prince has sent a lot of men out with deadly orders to search for Marian with all his might."
The result of finding it is roughly known in the mind without them having to say anything.
