Forsaken betrayal

Chapter 12

Episode 12

The drive was silent, with Lennox's eyes fixed on the road ahead and his jaw clenched. Gealic sat quietly beside him, scared of his anger at the mess she got herself into. "Why did he need to save me? I didn't need him, I could have escaped on my own."

She raised her head to protest when she saw that he was driving in a direction farther from his place.

"Where are we going?"

When he gave her no answers and didn't even spare her a glance, she realized he was just taking the drive to ease his anger, like the speed could take his wrath away. When he turned a corner into a dark and desolate street, her heart started to beat loudly.

"Is he taking me to my grave?" Gealic's mind raced with terrible thoughts, scenarios of how horrible her death would be clouded her mind. The way her husband and his wife would laugh at the news, the happiness in the faces of Amelia's family if they saw the news, the way Amelia's grandfather would be broken. An image of Lennox looming her, his eyes bloodshot and hungry, an axe in his raised hands, ready to strike.

The thoughts dissipated with a terrified whimper escaping her lips as the car came to a screeching halt in a dark alleyway that Gealic's heart thumping. Lennox stepped out of the car and walked to her side of the door, opening it. She knew his gesture meant she should come down but her eyes were sealed shut and her lips muttered prayers for safety.

As she hesitated, paralyzed by fear, Lennox grabbed her by the wrist, pulling her out himself. She could only whimper softly as her breaths came in soft gasps.

He pulled her out and immediately closed the door before pushing her against the car. Her left hand wrapped around her wrist tightly while his other hand grasped her face, his fingers boring into her skin. Her whimper turned to little sobs. "Trying to get yourself killed, uhn?" His voice echoed in the quiet street. "Were you trying to get yourself killed, Amelia?"

Her body shook in fear.

"You know what I have to lose so you're toying with me, right? Need I remind you that when you married me, you gave up your life to me? I told you this was the price you'd pay, I told you this was your cross before we got married. Amelia, I own you now, and nothing I ever own dies."

"Let me go!" She cried through clenched teeth, trying to get out of his grip.

He pushed her back, locking her in place with his body. A scream escaped her lips as her body hit the car. His lips were dangerously close to hers

He tilted her face up to meet his as his lips crashed into hers in a ferocity that knocked the breath from her lungs. His mouth was hot, demanding with his tongue thrusting into hers in a fervor that made her heart leap. She struggled against him but his body was too big for her feeble attempt to push him away. This kiss was different from what she was used to, a far cry from the soft kisses she had shared with Ethan and an even harder one than the last time Lennox had kissed her. It was an intent declaration of his dominance. He has meant it with all fiber of his being when he told her that he owned her.

He broke from the kiss and looked into her eyes. "I own you, Amelia. You cannot run away from that."

"I am not your Amelia." She sobbed softly, letting go of his hands and resigning to his torture.

She jumped slightly when he banged a fist on the car, "I wish I could just knock you out cold and lock you up somewhere." His voice went soft, "Amelia, you won't gain anything from being so manipulative. I could care less if not for your grandfather."

"You brought me to a dark street to tell me that?" She asked, her voice heavy with the stress the day had brought.

"These days, you've been messing with my head. Your tricks are working on me but I warn you not to go further, there's little I can do when I lose control." He released her and opened the door behind her, "Get in the car, let's get you to a hospital."

She obliged, "Let's just go home."

"You want me to be your Amelia, I'll be your Amelia just until I can run away from you." She thought to herself.

Lennox stopped the car just before the walkway leading into the house. He turned his face to the sleeping woman beside him, someone who had caused him so much just because he was married to her. She had always clung to him before they got married and he had always pushed her away. When he needed the help of her grandfather, she had pushed herself at him as a price for what he wanted and her grandfather approved. The old man couldn't deny his favourite child and Lennox could not deny the man.

Since then, just to get his attention, she had played different dirty tricks, making him hate her the more. But this woman sleeping on the passenger seat next to him felt different. She pissed him way more than she ever had, but he wasn't sure what he felt was hatred for her. She amused him in some kind of way.

He rapped his cheek, "Lennox, she's getting to you, don't let it happen."

He glanced at her again before getting off the car, walking to her side of the car. He opened the door and proceeded to wake her up but stopped when she winced.

"Let me go, please." She muttered in her sleep.

All the resolve to hand her over to any guard and lock her in her room melted, instead her carried her in his arms, careful not wake her up till he got to her room. He placed her slowly on the bed and covered her with her duvet, his thoughts panning to the way he had dragged the same duvet off her, the way they had rolled together on the same duvet the night before.

He stepped out of the room and shut the lage doors behind him, facing Mrs Rachel who had concern all over her face.

"Is she okay?" She asked.

"Tend to her wounds and get her any medicine she would need." He walked a short distance and stopped. "Clear her schedule for the rest of the month. She is to remain in the house throughout. Lock her up if she tries to leave." "Y-yes Master."
