Don’t Fall for the Billionaire Lover

Chapter 732

Perhaps it wasn't perfect; it was filled with fears and insecurities. But it also brimmed with courage and strength, like their own little fairy-tale world. It was a past they shared, one he wasn't part of, yet felt deeply connected to.

While Connor was lost in thought, Chloe had already cupped his face and kissed him. Their kiss lingered, tender and sweet, like a conversation between souls. Not far away, Lucas watched from a cabin's balcony. Gavin had called him. From the moment they arrived on the island, he'd been keeping an eye on them from the shadows.

He had secretly read Chloe's wish in the wish jar. It said, "Chloe and Connor, together forever." Lucas suddenly remembered their kindergarten days. There was a bully in their class who always picked on Lucas, who was small and skinny back then. One day, the bully snatched the roast beef from his plate. Chloe went straight up to the bully, pushed him down, and started throwing punches. They ended up wrestling on the ground, both sporting bruises afterward.

That day, seeing the bump on Chloe's forehead, Lucas felt terrible. "Chloe-bear, why'd you fight for me?" he asked. "Because Chloe-bear and Lucas are the best friends in the world. I'll protect you forever," she replied. Lucas often thought about those childhood days. They had promised to stay together forever.

But now, Lucas found it all so ironic. Even more ironic was that the bully who used to pick on him was Cassie. After that fight, Chloe and Cassie somehow became inseparable friends. Lucas felt incredibly hurt. He was supposed to be the one closest to her, having been best friends for twenty years. But now, they were like the most familiar strangers.

He kept telling himself that as long as Chloe was happy, that was all that mattered. Just let her be happy. But every time he saw Chloe's face, he couldn't help but wonder if he still had a chance. If Chloe knew the truth, would she hate him forever, or would she come back to him? It felt like a path with two extremes, and he didn't have the courage to find out. Chloe, can I ever have you again...

Two days later, Connor had sorted out all his work affairs. Chloe and Connor were officially on a flight back to Eldridge City. By the time they landed, it was already evening. Instead of heading to the old mansion, they went to Figure Nine Estate, a garden villa owned by Connor. The community had only nine villas, each set on a large plot with man-made rivers for privacy.

Chloe said, "Now that we're back, should we visit the old place?" Connor replied, "We should, at least to tell them about the wedding. Let's go tomorrow night." Chloe wasn't too concerned about the formalities, but Connor insisted on having a grand wedding. Chloe suggested, "How about the day after tomorrow? I'm starting my job at QUEEN tomorrow, and a friend's throwing me a welcome party in the evening."

Connor agreed and casually asked, "Where's the party at?" Chloe raised an eyebrow and replied, "Pure White."
