Chapter 720
the UK as an exchange student next year. Her future was bright, and she couldn't throw it away on a fleeting impulse.
Chloe knew the procedure would take a toll on Belle's body. But what's done is done, and Chloe was firmly behind Belle's decision. Belle was just a college sophomore, still figuring it all out. She was at a prestigious university, excelling in her program, with plans to head to Chloe chimed in, "Riverbrook's too close-knit; everyone knows everyone. Head to Eldridge City for the procedure. I'll sort out the best private clinic for you. Just make sure to get a leave from school and then let me know." Belle hugged Chloe's arm, "Thank you, Chloe, you're like a sister to me." Belle truly felt grateful. She couldn't confide in her family, but Chloe was different. She knew Chloe would always have her back.
After a beat, Chloe added, "But you should tell Juztin. You two are a couple, and he deserves to know." Chloe paused, then continued, "But remember, it's your call. It's your choice whether to keep the baby or not. If he insists on you dropping out and keeping the baby, sacrificing your dreams, then it's time to reconsider the relationship." Belle nodded thoughtfully, "I get it, Chloe."
Leaving Belle's room, Chloe felt a bit heavy-hearted. She headed straight to the nursery, not expecting to find Connor there. The baby was fast asleep, and Connor was leaning over the crib, watching the little one snooze. Seeing him like that warmed Chloe's heart, and she felt herself relax. She walked in and naturally wrapped her arms around Connor's waist. "What are you doing here?" she asked.
Connor straightened up and pulled Chloe into an embrace. "I came out of the study and couldn't find you, but I figured you'd be here checking on the little one." They sat on the bench next to the crib, and Chloe rested her head on Connor's shoulder, "He's adorable, isn't he?" Connor had been gazing at the baby for a while. The child was indeed very cute, with fair skin and chubby cheeks, like a little cherub straight out of a storybook. "What's his name?" Connor asked. "Summer," Chloe replied. Connor nodded, "That's a lovely name." Chloe suddenly turned to Connor, her chin resting on his shoulder. "Do you prefer a son or a daughter?" she asked. Connor, with a straight face, replied, "I don't care about either. I only care about you." With that, he leaned in and gave Chloe a quick kiss. Chloe smiled, knowing full well that Connor did want a child. Last time, she had jokingly used a prediction from her mentor to spook him, saying having a baby might be dangerous for her health. Surprisingly, Connor, the rational thinker, believed it. Now he was more careful than anyone else. Chloe didn't press the issue further. The little guy woke up, stretching and opening his big grape-like eyes, quietly taking in the world around him. He wasn't fussy or crying, just calmly watching Chloe and Connor. Connor chuckled, "This little one sure is a calm soul."
