CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1662

Previously, when Ben and Jamie were separated, they had both suffered deeply. In his desperation, Ben had even used the name Jack to get close to Winnie, a decision that nearly cost him his chance to be with Jamie.

Mrs. Lucas's voice was hoarse as she spoke, her guilt spilling out. "Even if we're moving forward, we can't completely forget the past. I've been a terrible person. Now you're both taking care of me, but I know how busy you are. You don't have to waste your time here with me. Focus on your own lives."

She genuinely didn't want to take up their time, but how could Jamie just leave Mrs. Lucas unattended?

And with Jamie determined to stay, Ben had no intention of leaving either. After all, the woman lying on that hospital bed was his mother.

"If we don't take care of you, who will?" Jamie said firmly. "Don't say things like that. Right now, the most important thing is for you to recover. And if you don't, who's going to watch over Charlie?"

Ben reached out, gently ruffling Charlie's hair. As Charlie had started calling Mrs. Lucas "Grandma," Ben found himself basking in the joy of their new life together. It was a life he both cherished and enjoyed immensely.

Mrs. Lucas nodded repeatedly, her eyes brimming with tears. "Alright, alright."

Jamie handed her a tissue, wiping away the tears. "Let's just focus on making the future better together as a family. That's all that matters."

For Jamie, this unity was already the greatest happiness she could ask for.

Meanwhile, on Winnie's side, she had made a decision that she was going to take their mother away. In her current state, their mother no longer needed to dwell on the past. What mattered now was her well-being, and staying here would only distract Jamie from her own life.

Jamie had already done so much-raising Charlie, managing the household, and sacrificing endlessly for the family. Now it was time for Winnie to take on the responsibility.

Winnie made a call to Jamie.

Despite Jamie's numerous attempts

to contact her in the past, Winnie rarely answered. But when Winnie called, Jamie always picked up immediately. en FindNovel

"Hello?" Jamie said quickly.

"I'm taking Mom with me," Winnie said over the phone. "You shouldz focus on living your life. I think we've made things clear enough already. Don't let the past weigh on you anymore."

"But where would you even take her? How?"

"I have my ways. Don't worry, I can take good care of her. You just focus on your own life. I'll call you often, and if I have the means, I'll come back to visit."

Winnie's voice was calm, but she

didn't share the full truth. She hadn't told Jamie that she was pregnant with the child of the masked man she had once plotted revenge with. Her life was already entangled with his, and if she left, she would take him with her. Leaving would be

better for everyone.

"When will you come back?" Jamie asked, her tone edged with worry. "We're family, no matter what. You can't just decide to leave like this."

Winnie gave a bitter laugh. "Of course I'll come back. I grew up here in Birkham. It's my home. Even if I die, I'd want to die here.

"But if I stay, I can't just keep meeting with you. What would people think if I showed up still holding onto the identity of Jack's fiancée?"

Ben had told her the truth and treated her kindly. Thinking it through, she realized he had never truly wronged her.

She didn't blame Ben. But she loved him.

Staying here and appearing in Jamie's life again-what would that even mean? What place would she have?
