Chapter 1414
Orion's relationship with Pharaoh had grown closer, and he was always happy to see him.
"Oh, Mom! I finished my homework too. Do you want to check it for me?"
Nina agreed right away. Kindergarten homework was simple, and Orion had done well, with hardly any mistakes, so she reviewed it quickly. Once Orion had put it away, he ran downstairs to watch TV while Nina played with Gemma nearby.
A while later, the doorbell rang. It was a delivery.
Nina hadn't ordered anything recently, so she assumed it was something Nash had bought and went ahead and opened it. Inside were a few bottles of supplements and a letter. She unfolded the letter and, with just a glance at the first line, knew who had sent it. Only Wilfred would call her "Ivy."
In the letter, Wilfred mentioned that he was opening a new hospital in Birkham and planned to stay and work here. He had personally prepared the supplements, known to be very nourishing, and sent them as a gift for her to try.
Nina texted him a thank you and put the supplements away, appreciating the thoughtful gesture. With Wilfred's expertise, the quality of his supplements would undoubtedly be top-notch.
Later, when Nash returned home, Nina briefly mentioned the supplements, and then the family enjoyed some quality time together.
The next morning, after dropping off the kids at school, Nina returned home, packed a few things for Gemma, including diapers, bottles, and formula, and then went back to pick up Orion. Together, the three of them headed to the hospital. Pharaoh hadn't expected them until the following day, so he hadn't hidden the liver cancer diagnosis report on his bedside table.
As the nurse entered to deliver his medication, she noticed the report right away. Her own father was around Pharaoh's age and had also battled cancer. She couldn't help but speak-up, "Even with late-stagez cancer, it's still worth pursuing treatment. My father initially refused too, but we managed to convince him as a family. He's already lived a year longer than the doctors
expected."
Although late-stage cancer often meant being close to the end, the actual timing wasn't set in stone. Children would always hope for more time with their parents, even if it's only a few extra months.
"There's no need to convince me. I'm
a doctor myself. I understand all of this." Pharaon had spent the previous night thinking things over again. He was still leaning toward conservative treatment, just taking some medication and letting things unfold as they would. He couldn't bear the thought of his family seeing him in such a weakened state.
The nurse wanted to say more but held back and left with a sigh.
As she walked out, she nearly bumped into Nina and her kids coming in. When their eyes met, the nurse's lips moved as if to speak but ultimately stayed silent. After all, it was a family matter. As medical staff, she could only offer advice. The final choice was up to the patient and their loved ones.
"Mom, is Grandpa sick?" Orion asked, eyeing the medication cart with curiosity.
Nina's expression grew serious.
Could it be that Pharaoh was hiding an illness from her on purpose?
