Betrayed Luna's Fated Mate

Chapter 29: Punished

-Brendon-

The office was so quiet as I and the rest stood scattered in the room, with Jason right in front of his father, who was acting so calm, but we knew our leading alpha. This wasn't the first time we had ended up here all of us together and were being treated to his icy calm before his anger took over, and we were forced to run rounds around the territory until our legs broke. However, this time we had also given him a different story about his daughter. We had told him about what Celeste had experienced since her birthday, and I knew he was taking his time to process that information too before he most likely whooped all our asses. He was usually a calm alpha, unless we acted recklessly, putting a bad light on the pack.

"So," Jason began when the silence had gone on long enough. "Maybe we should go talk to Celeste?"

"I will talk to her," his father replied.

"Oh alone?"

"Yes, alone, because you will all be busy," he told us, and I could hear us all gulp as we knew the old alpha had something in store for us.

"Busy?" Jason asked, and while Jason wasn't one to be afraid, his voice broke a little this time.

"All of you, hand over your weapons."

We sighed, then began placing all our weapons on his desk. Tim was the last one, placing a fucking grenade on the alpha's desk, and we all stared shocked at him. He noticed and shrugged. "What?" he asked.

"Where the fuck did you get that?" I asked, but the alpha quickly cut in, telling us to be quiet.

We turned to him again, and a dark smile had spread across his lips as he watched us. We were fucked.

"Did you eat dinner yet?" he asked, and we all shook our heads before he turned to look out the window. "A storm is coming."

We gazed out of the window, seeing how dark the sky had become, and we all sighed.

"Off with the jackets, shirts, and shoes. No shifting, and you don't stop running until I tell you to."

We groaned but obeyed his command, knowing we had no choice. He could use his alpha powers on us if we didn't. We stripped, and then he pointed at the door. We all walked toward it with hung heads before the alpha called out to me.

"Oh, and Brendon," he said, and I turned to him.

"Yes?"

"You aren't allowed to even touch Celeste for a full day."

"WHAT?" I shouted and saw the old alpha smile.

"A full day," he repeated.

That was fucking torture, and he knew that, but I was the reason we had even gone to Zack's territory, and therefore, my punishment was harsher. I understood, but that didn't make it any less awful. understand?"

"Do you

"Yes, Alpha," I whispered before he snapped his fingers, telling us to go.

As we began running under the rain and thunder, I knew what we had done today was so stupid. We could have caused a fucking war, and so our punishment was quite mild considering how angry I knew the alpha was. However, knowing I wouldn't even be able to go back and touch Celeste, find comfort with her, and ensure she continued to know who she belonged to was even worse. -Celeste-

"Hey, Dad," I said as I poked my head into the office where both my parents were waiting.

A pack member had come to get me as I sat eating with Simone. I had heard Brendon and the others were back and being scolded by my father, but I wasn't sure exactly what had happened to them afterward. I thought Brendon would come find me, but instead I had been called here.

"Hey, I was just talking to your mom," my dad informed me, pulling my mother closer to him, which made her smile. They were true mates as well, and even after all these years together, they were still so in love with each other. "Okay," I replied, wondering if I was in trouble now too.

"Sit."

I did as he told me, sitting in front of him.

"So, Brendon and your brother, together with their friends, went on a little... trip," my father informed me, but when he said the word 'trip' and his voice was full of anger, I knew what that trip involved.

"I see... Where are they now?"

"Outside."

I turned my head just as a giant lightning split the air. "Now?" I asked and turned to my father.

"Yes, right now."

"Okay..."

"But that's not what I want to talk about."

"No?"

"Brendon told us something tonight. Something about you, and I have just informed your mother."

"He told you something?"

"Yes, and why everything suddenly went out of control. It seems you believe you lived another life," he said.

"Oh, well, that's..." I wasn't sure I could admit this to my parents yet. Brendon barely believed me. How was I going to prove this to my parents?

"Celeste, why didn't you tell us about this?" my mother asked.

"I barely understood it myself in the beginning. I even forgot how I became mates with Brendon. I have only started to remember, and I am learning to be mates with Brendon again. I went over to Zack's today because I needed to figure out more, and I did."

"You truly believe you lived another life?" my father questioned, and I could hear the skeptical tone, as could my mother, so she shoved him gently. "What?"

"Don't make her feel crazy. Can't you see she is having a hard time talking about this already?" my mother pointed out, making me smile a little.

My father sighed and turned to me again. "I'm sorry, dear. I just... am having a hard time believing this. Could you tell us some more?"

"I have these two sets of memories, as if I am remembering another life. I have the memories from this life and then from another where I was mates with Zack."

"Zack?" my father questioned.

"Yes, but I don't think our bond was that strong. It's nothing compared to what I feel for Brendon, but I needed to know what went wrong between us. You see, I remember..." I trailed off. "Remember what, sweetheart?" my mother asked.

"I... was killed."

Both my parents went pale and glanced at each other before focusing on me.

"I know how it sounds, but I remember it. I remember the feeling, the fear, and then... it all stopped. Zack wanted me dead because... because I wasn't enough. I know our pack is great, even if it isn't the largest, but he wants more. Even now, I think he wants more."

"Celeste, you understand you don't have any proof of this, right?" my dad asked.

I sighed. "I know..."

"It's going to be impossible to prove, and even if we could, it wouldn't change that in this life he hasn't touched you."

"Well..."

"Did he do something to you?" my dad growled.

"He tried to kiss me... twice."

My dad growled darkly, and my mother reached out, placing a hand on his chest to calm him. It worked instantly, and he pulled her down on his lap to keep calm. "Tell me everything," my father insisted.
