Chapter DO IT
THIRD PERSON POV:
"Meet me at my cabin, 609. You have only a minute to prove yourself to me."
When Riley saw the message from Hazel, something inside him reignited. He showed his friend Ian the text. They were already dressed and in line for dinner, but he didn't feel the need to stay anymore.
"You should go for it. I mean, she's your mate, not just any random girl," Ian said, and Riley nodded.
He left the line immediately and made his way out of the food hall. Stopping at the snack shop, he bought some chocolates and snacks, then quickened his pace until he reached the cabin.
He came to a halt, taking a deep breath. Before he could knock, Hazel, who had smelled him from afar, opened the door, leading him into the living space, a small room with two sofas and a small fireplace. They walked past the dining area, where a small wooden table with five seats stood, and she opened the door to the room she shared with Bella.
Riley, on the other hand, admired the room, and it clicked that one of them had to be the Frost Pack Alpha's child or the Beta's child.
"Your father is Alpha?" he asked as they entered the bedroom, which had two beds placed side by side.
Hazel looked at him, her back against the door as she shut it.
"He's six feet under the ground," she replied, and Riley's face fell immediately.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that." He pleaded, while Hazel kept a straight face. "My minute is up, isn't it? I'll be on
my way then," he said, walking towards the door. Then Hazel pressed her lips against his when he got close.
His lips were so soft and warm that she didn't want to let go, but she pulled away after a moment.
"You're so cute," she said with a light chuckle, then grabbed his hand, pulling him toward the bed.
Riley followed her, clueless, and she made him sit on the bed.
"Ryder is the Alpha's son, and Finn and Kai are the Beta's children."
"So you're here because Bella is their mate?"
"She's Ryder's stepsister," Hazel said, and Riley's face contorted.
"Oh, they don't share a parent," she clarified, then chuckled at how she was confusing him. "So, want to see a movie?" she asked, and he nodded, his mind a little absent.
He looked at Hazel and couldn't wrap his head around the fact that she was both crazy and hot at the same time. The kiss they shared moments ago still lingered in his mind, and he wanted more. He wanted to know about her, including her parents, but he feared she would shut him out.
"Wait a minute. I heard Tyler's mum was the wife of the Alpha of Frost Pack. That means Ryder is related to Tyler the Beta's son.?" he asked, and Hazel nodded.
"See, you're getting the hang of the family tree," she said with a smile, then kissed his cheek gently.
She laid on her bed on her stomach, opening her tablet for a movie. Riley hesitated for a moment.
"The movie's on, Riley," she said, snapping him back to reality.
He took out the chocolates from the plastic bag, handing them to her.
"Thank you," Hazel said, accepting the sweet wrapped in a purple packet. Riley lay close to her, his eyes on the
screen.
A movie was the perfect escape plan for Hazel. She didn't want to discuss anything about them yet, because even Riley was nice, it didn't erase the fact that he was related to Fae. Fae had left a mark on their lives, one that would be difficult to forget.
They watched the movie in silence for a while before Riley spoke up.
"Why didn't you go to the hall for dinner with your friends?" he asked, tilting to face her.
"Because you're here," she replied simply, hoping he wouldn't prolong the conversation.
"They'll be back any minute, so maybe we should talk and clear the air between us, because I'd really love to know my mate."
Hazel faced him with a smile.
"They won't disturb us, so you have nothing to worry about," she said. He sat up, making her curse under her breath. "You're avoiding a conversation with me, aren't you?" he questioned, and Hazel tried to keep the smile on her face. The more she tried, the wider it grew, almost reaching her ears.
It hurt her cheeks, forcing her to drop the smile. She turned to face him with a huge sigh.
"Fine!" she said, turning off the movie and sitting up. "What do you want to talk about?" she asked flatly.
Riley looked into her eyes for a moment, then grabbed her hand, placing a kiss on the back of her right palm. This sent Hazel's stomach spiraling.
"I can't say I love you because I've only known you for twenty-four hours, but the feelings had when we first met are unmistakened. Your eyes are the prettiest things I've seen in a while, and I was drawn the moment I laid eyes on them."
Her face turned red instantly, and she withdrew her hand. She felt he was just flattering her, but Fae still haunted her thoughts. Therefore, it wasn't the right time to fall for flattery.
"Your fears about Fae are valid, and trust me, I've seen her in her full glory. I don't like Fae, but I don't hate her either. I can't condemn my relation who hasn't really wronged me, but I promise I'll never let her or anyone else hurt you." As he said this, Hazel looked at him. "You're my mate, and it's my duty to protect you, and I'll do that until my last breath."
The room fell silent for a while, and when Riley opened his mouth to speak again, Hazel cut him off.
"Shut up and kiss me."
Even then, he tried to speak again.
"Do it!" she raised her voice, and he cupped her face, pulling her into a kiss.
